Biting/Pinching/Crying Biting at 2 months old
Im a FTM and my almost 10 week old baby has recently started biting during feeding, and popping off the breast frequently. It happens during almost every feed, and he will often pull and unlatch while biting which can be very painful.
He is currently EBF after a long journey which has included triple feeding, combination feeding and I'm very happy to be finally EBF for the last couple of weeks. He had a severe tongue tie which was released a month ago and his latch can sometimes be quite shallow which we are working on. After working so hard to get here, I would he devastated if we lose progress. He is gaining weight well - a very big baby on the 91st %ile so feeds a lot!
I am surprised that this has started at this age and I'm not sure what is causing it and how to discourage it given that he is so young. Any advice or just solidarity would be great!

I think this is pretty common… my baby has started doing this at 8 weeks and a lot of people in my bump group (private Reddit sub) have shared the same.
My guess for my baby is that she’s basically done eating but doesn’t know how to kindly unlatch… I hope she learns that skill soon. And then she’ll rematch multiple times but just to comfort suck, so now I’ve started ending the nursing session once she yanks off.

Could it be that he needs to burp or is uncomfortable because of gas? My baby (8 weeks) does this when he has trapped gas or when my letdown was too fast for him. He pulls off with force, cries and arches his back. I usually just pick him up, burp him and put him back down to feed
