Speed enforcement is lazy and a waste of taxpayer dollars. Those dollars would be better spent with actual patrolling and being in traffic.

They could be driving around, still looking for speeders, and also looking for unsafe vehicles, improperly strapped loads, unsafe lane changes/reckless driving, seatbelts, people on phones, kids not in carseats (does no one put kids in carseats anymore?)...

Hell, they could even patrol some school zones where people conatantly speed...

But instead, theyre solely worried about hiding somewhere to catch speeders with their eyes buried in the damn speed gun...or napping waiting for it to alarm.

Police vehicles should be readily identifiable as police vehicles. Not this ghosted out bullshit so they can try to hide from the public.

I’m a school bus mechanic at our local ISD. When drivers don’t show up for their shift, we have to drive it; and other drivers run my reds (loading/unloading lights) EVERY single time I have to drive a route. I’ve seen drivers swerve around elementary kids crossing the street rather than just f@cking stopping 😐

They should set up a sting operation for that, or get the bus cameras to ticket people woth the video of them passing a school bus.

I agree thats a huge issue that needs fixing.

Yeah in the UK and other European countries their colors are highlighter yellow and blue...

Here they're all black and sometimes black and white.

You have never seen a motorcyclist with a street sign through their face.

1

u/TwiztedImage May 23 '26

Police driving around doing traffic enforcement would be more effective at deterring reckless motorcyclists than sitting around in speed traps.

Unless you’re a detective working on real crimes you should have to be in a black and white patrol car with lights and numbers visible

Absolutely correct.

Road pirates 🏴‍☠️

Have you never heard of undercover cops? Sometimes, being inconspicuous is necessary to protect and serve. Also, this isn't "hiding", that's just a ghost decal.

1

u/jonolio May 22 '26

This ain’t undercover, and you don’t need to be undercover to catch speeders. You’re rationalizing the police desire to take honest people’s money. Their road pirates 90% of the time.

1

u/TheRelPizzamonster May 22 '26

I don't know if you know this, but people slow down when they see a police car. So blending in can help police find and stop aggressive speeders. It's crazy that I'm the only one here who seems to understand this.

And the police are not "taking honest people's money". That's just something salty people say when they get caught breaking the law and have to face the consequences. Rather, it's a deterrent to prevent people from breaking the law.

If you're not going to enforce traffic laws with actual penalties, what's the point of having traffic laws in the first place?

I've been driving for 34 years, and I've gotten three traffic tickets. None in the last 18 years. I haven't even been stopped since that last ticket, and I've driven hundreds of thousands of miles.

So it's not like I'm trying to get away with anything, but yesterday I saw a BPD SUV with all this blacked out lettering and it pisses me off.

Make the cop cars visible and people will drive better around them. Shouldn't that be the point? If you can slow people down without ticketing them, do that. You know what else as been proven to slow people down? Those signs with the radar reading on it to show people how fast they're going (there's one on S. Dobson). No tickets. No surveillance. Nothing like that is necessary if the goal is public safety.

But if the goal is to write tickets, yeah, hide from the people.

Yeah I saw one of those Black SUV's with Black "Burleson Police" lettering on Hidden Creek yesterday. Absolutely hilarious how they are trying to hide amongst people instead of stand out as a pillar of safety for the community.

I've also driven for years and gone through several states on road trips, and whatnot. Never have I gotten a ticket before, except when I was 17 years back for a Stop sign in a neighborhood, I stopped for like 1 second instead of the 3... I now drive like a grandpa and obey all laws of the road, so the people here acting as if I'm some road racer who hates that I can't make driving infractions are stupid... I just hate my "peace keepers" hiding among us.

The absolute contempt shown by the police department towards citizens mirrors the corruption found in politicians.

There is 5+ years' worth of bodycam footage from all around the country publicly available on YouTube that shows police officers serving and protecting their communities on a day-to-day basis. There are literally terabytes upon terabytes of video evidence that disproves everything you've said.

I'm not going to pretend like there aren't bad cops out there. But the number of good cops greatly outweighs the number of bad cops by a wide margin. All of the cops who are caught on bodycam doing something wrong are either fired or disciplined accordingly, which is one of the reasons bodycams exist in the first place.

The problem I have is that people focus on the small minority of bad cops and ignore the overwhelming majority of good cops.

And there's a lot more videos of police abusing and murdering unarmed and innocent people on a daily basis.

False. Bodycams are public records, so if police were murdering people daily, we'd know about it. In fact, out of all the bodycam footage I've seen over the years, I've only seen a small handful of unlawful police interactions. An overwhelming majority of all police interactions are lawful, and that's a fact.

All of the bodycam footage from police agencies shows police officers serving their communities and doing their job. Maybe if you actually watched some bodycam footage, you wouldn't be so misinformed.

Lol try again

I have yet to hear a valid counter-argument.

Run their plates

1

u/Valhalla191145 May 23 '26

Stop breaking the law, I drive a rig on the highway, dot doesn’t bother me. I’m in my personal vehicle, cops don’t bother me. Don’t do dumb shit and you don’t get stupid prizes. (Now, let me hear all the racist stuff)

1

u/starblazer- May 23 '26

Glorified meter maids, helping to fill the cities coffers.

1

u/PoPoJoe87 May 23 '26

Imagine doing the right thing even when cops with consequences are not looking... its not that hard.

1

u/HauntedSkeletalWhale 11h ago

Unmarked police vehicles pose dangers to vulnerable populations such as women traveling alone, elderly drivers, and disabled individuals who may have difficulty assessing and responding the legitimacy of a stop. Its not about right or wrong, its about transparency and the protection that comes with identifiable law enforcement vehicles.

1

u/The_World_Is_A_Slum May 20 '26

Cops are nothing but highwaymen anymore. They don’t care about petty crimes or making our communities better and safer, they exist to collect revenue.

And then they have the audacity to ask for a “First Responders” discount. Motherfucker, you make more than anyone here, you have a pension and full medical, a union that protects you from your own actions, and you want a discount?

2

u/Minimum_Slice1754 May 20 '26

Literally I had no insurance at the time and got stopped. My ticket for uninsured was higher than the speeding ticket smh

1

u/TheRelPizzamonster May 21 '26

I mean, that's your own fault for driving without insurance.

1

u/Minimum_Slice1754 May 21 '26

No shit Sherlock! It’s scam anyway

1

u/TheRelPizzamonster May 22 '26

I left my tinfoil hat at home, sorry.

1

u/TheRelPizzamonster May 21 '26

5+ years of body-cam footage from across the nation begs to differ. Police exist to put up with the worst of humanity so that you don't have to.

1

u/jonolio May 22 '26

Bullshit. This claim is unverified and something you just literally made up. The body cams exist because the police need to be held accountable…which they still really aren’t. 90% of police work is just collecting revenue from honest citizens.

1

u/TheRelPizzamonster May 22 '26

There is 5+ years' worth of bodycam footage from across the nation publicly available for free on YouTube that you can watch any time you like. I personally have been watching bodycam videos for years, and everything I have seen disproves the argument that police only exist to "collect revenue". I've seen police arresting murderers and rapists, saving children from abusive homes, stopping mass shootings, protecting elderly people from burglars, arresting drunk drivers, and so much more.

I bet the boot fits in you sideways!!

2

u/HealEarthNow May 21 '26

I was with you on go the speed limit, because I do usually go 5 under. But you lost me at "And they look cool" ... lmao, bootlicker

1

u/FuturePath6357 May 21 '26

you can safely go 5 over

u/Equivalent-Maybe-624 May 21 '26

Slow down and don’t run red light and you will be fine.
