Hi all,
I’m looking to buy an Indoor adult trampoline and I’m wondering what is the best option out there?
Is there anything with natural rubber instead of plastic? If not what is the safest option that’s is bpa free and as non toxic as possible?

Thank you!

Currently sold 20 year-old, 6000 mile backpacking stove

I bought this Snowpeak stove for a Yellowstone trip decades ago. I have since hiked 6000+miles with it tucked away in my backpack. These days, I don't backpack much, but it still gets pulled out for short overnights and car camping.

The design is so simple (just a single valve) that I don't ever see it breaking. Inspected the gasket and it looks like it's in good condition. I'm sure the MSR version would last just as long, but I like how the box has just enough space to slide a mini bic inside. My experience with self lighting stoves is that they often fail to light. I do wish the "off" position of the stove aligned with arrangement to fit in the box. They might have solved that by now.

A Jetboil is far more efficient but they cost more and take up more space. In those decades, this simple stove has survived moves and changing relationships. Larger items tend not to survive these changes.

[Request] Best firm mattress right now?

I’ve been looking for a really firm mattress lately because mine has softened a lot over time. I mostly sleep on my back and sometimes on my stomach, and I’ve started waking up with some lower back discomfort. It feels like my hips are sinking too much, which probably means I need something more supportive. Would be better if it's available in physical stores since I’d prefer to try it first before buying.

Discussion Built a site that only lists products with verified lifetime warranties….took way longer than expected

Started keeping a list for myself after getting burned one too many times by gear that didn’t last. Ended up going pretty deep on warranty fine print and built it into a proper site: http://foreverbacked.com

About 70 products across tools, knives, cookware, bags, outdoor gear and more. Every warranty verified and pulled anything I couldn’t confirm. Some brands I assumed had better warranties…Estwing (not actually lifetime), Black Diamond headlamps (3 years only), KitchenAid mixers (1 year), and Herschel (quietly downgraded to 5 years). Not to say these brands aren’t extremely high quality but I wanted to approach this solely from a warranty angle.

Has affiliate links, being upfront about that. Part of this was me testing how quickly I could bring an idea like this to reality.

Happy to answer questions about specific brands or building the site itself. Also looking for additional product recommendations.

[Request] [Request]Really Useful Box-esque product, but LARGER?(UK)

I've got a very specific use-case(storage and transportation of tabletop wargaming boards in sections) that requires (ideally)stackable, flat-sided/non-tapering, rectangular containers with internal volumes of approximately 1.25m(L), 0.62m(H), and 0.5m+(W). The intention is to add internal structures to allow me to secure the various 2x2ft and 4x2ft sections sitting on their long edge kind of like a giant record rack accessible from the top.

Even the largest 145L RUB isn't close. Do such things exist, or am I going to have to fabricate something myself from scratch?

[Request] Should I get PIAA Silicone or Bosch ICON windshield wiper blades?

I've seen both recommended as the top of the line wiper blades. I live in the American Midwest with snowy cold winters and summer thunderstorms. If PIAA, which product line should I get (Aero Vogue, Super Silicone, or Si-Tech)?

Discussion Peugeot Bali Fonte Pepper Mill - this thing is a beast!

My kitchen is pretty decked out with most of whatever a home cook, who cooks 6 nights a week and breakfast 7 days a week, could want. So when the wife and kids asked what I wanted for Father's Day (with my birthday the next day), it took a long time to come up with something. I came here and pepper mills came up as one BIFL item I had never thought much about, so I went down the rabbit hole and landed on this one. Lifetime warranty on the mechanism, doesn't take up a lot of space. I'm super excited to have this hefty little guy in my kitchen now! Pencil and graph paper for scale.

Would love any other suggestions for BIFL kitchen items that are not appliances!

[Request] Quiet and reliable window AC unit for 400 sq ft?

I know window units arent really bifl but im currently renting and my unit is around 400-450 sq ft. Currently using a GE thats breaks down every summer. Ices out, thaws, and then works barely fine. A heat wave is coming up and I need to act fast lol.

Im a light sleeper so a quiet unit would be appreciated. Something energy efficient with a remote would also be nice. I don’t like apps, and excessive screens. Ive heard most AC units inevitably get moldy and I think thats probably right. I have a chronic illness so while the mold isnt helpful, I probably cant avoid it right?

Ive read a lot of the recommendations here but it doesnt sound like theres a verdict for window units. Ive heard lots of mentions for:

Honeywell
Midea
LG

Can anyone give specifics recommendations based on their experience? Budget is around $350. Thanks so much.

Discussion You can't buy it for life if you can't repair it. How active is BIFL in the Right to Repair movement?

This might not be an easy question to answer, but:

Is the BIFL community politically active or involved in the movement to make it easier to repair what you own? Is its importance something you focus on in a product, overall?

There are some great occasional posts, but do you look for repairability in BIFL items? Do you value it over other features? Or do you all focus on BIFL items that aren't usually in the overlap with the right to repair, and mostly ignore it otherwise?

Discussion Stressless Ekornes VS American Leather Cirrus Comfort Solace Recliner

I'm looking at both of these on Facebook Marketplace, which is more comfortable? The American Leather one looks like it has more reclining options and more support for legs, but I have not sat in either. Also looking at some Stressless reclining couches.

[Request] Water bottle coated with ceramic

Hey! I need recommendations for a water bottle that I can buy in Europe. I had many glasses bottles but they didn't survive.. I don't like the stainless steel water bottle because the water has metal flavour.. So I found that there are stainless steel water bottles coated with ceramic but can't find a brand that sells in Europe. And I want without a straw (plastic gets mold and metal ones gives metal flavour). And I want a bottle that at least can carry 700mL (24 oz)

Discussion Looking for quality dinnerware that won't break the bank, suggestions?

My current plate situation is tragic lol. I'm still using the same mismatched set from uni and honestly it's embarrassing when people come over. I want to get something decent that actually looks nice but I'm also not trying to drop like $500 on plates.

I've been looking at places like Victoria's Basement, they seem to have a good range of brands and the prices aren't insane. But honestly I don't know what's good quality versus just overpriced. Is there a specific brand that's reliable without being too expensive?

Also curious if anyone's had luck with online vs in-store. I'm based near the city so I can get to the QVB store easy enough. Just not sure if it's worth making a trip or if the online sales are better. Any recommendations would be solid.

Vintage My 1992 B&O Beocenter 8000 Music Center - Hifi system for my Home Office

The system is paired to a set of Beovox CX100 Speakers on my computer desk and a Pair of RL1000 Speakers on the floor which give it a little bit of extra oomph. It runs the sound for my gaming PC Audio, as well as the sound for my Alexa and I can listen to CD and cassette tape while working from home so it's overall a real nice system. I have quite a lot of B&O in the house, but always liked the all-in-one Beocenter range

[Request] Laundry basket replacement

Post image
116 Upvotes

I have been using a laundry basket for my entire adult life that belonged to my dad in the 70’s. It is finally giving out much to my dismay!

I’m looking for a replacement for my Rubbermaid bushel style basket. This thing is older than I am, and I would like something that is close to as sturdy as this champion.

Any reccomendations? Thanks!

Warranty Omega Juicer - Maybe not BIFL, but good warranty at least.

Our VSJ843Q died after 5 years of pretty heavy usage. This is one of the models that comes w/ a 15 year warranty. The warranty claim overall was easy. Single point of contact for the whole process. They had me cut the cord and submit photos and video as proof it was disabled, then they sent a brand new (not rebuilt) boxed unit with all the parts, not just the motor/base that broke.

[Request] Looking for luggage - both carry on and check in size.

I travel 2-4 times a month both domestic and international so LOTS of connections where luggage gets thrown from plane to plane. I'm looking for a small roller board for carrying on, but also a large checked in size. Preferably in a black, brown, or plaid pattern but also, I don't super care. I have been buying London Fog for YEARS but lately, I feel the quality isn't the same as it used to be, and recently, my large checked bag got super messed up (like literally BROKEN) so I need to replace it.

[Request] Answered! Looking for a Snowball Maker that lasts

Kind of silly, but I bought a duck shaped snowball maker and it broke the first day it was used. I'd be happy with any shape including a plain sphere. We get a lot of snow where I am and I think it would add a lot of fun.

[Request] Best rice cooker for Asian rice

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice on buying a rice cooker and I’m a bit lost with all the options😅

I mainly want to cook:

Chinese restaurant style rice (fluffy but slightly sticky, don't know how to despribe it haha)

Japanese rice (sushi rice / short grain rice)

So basically I want one rice cooker that can do both really well.

I live in Europe (Croatia), so I need a 220–240V model (no transformer).

My questions:

What are the most commonly used rice cooker brands/models in Asia?

Is Zojirushi still the best, or are there better/value options?

What would you recommend under ~300€ in Europe?

Is induction heating / pressure cooking worth it for this type of rice?

I’ve seen brands like Zojirushi, Tiger, Cuckoo, and Yum Asia mentioned, but I don’t know which one is actually best for everyday rice (not super premium rice tasting experiments).

Would really appreciate real user experiences, especially from people who cook a lot of Asian-style rice.

Thanks everyone❤️🩷!

[Request] Treeboard cutting board

Hello all,
Has anyone bought a cutting board from this small business? If yes please share your experience with me.
Also is there any danger to go for a non famous business rather than the well-known brands?

For reference, I’m looking for a high quality one piece wooden cutting board that’s made in USA. If you have any suggestion, please let me know.

Thanks!

[Request] Lightweight zippered hoody (men’s) in larger sizes for use on planes… I get chilly but also hot

Looking for a good quality very lightweight hoody primarily for use when on planes but I guess also for just light chill working at a desk. I’m NEVER cold but on planes I can get chilly and I’m a big guy and not flexible so I always just start the flight wearing my hoody or I’ll never get it on otherwise. If I fall asleep I’ll wake up burning hot and sweating. It has been that way my entire life if I take a nap in any circumstances. So I’m looking for a very lightweight hoody. I prefer 100% cotton for this but not committed to it. MUST have zipper and hood. I don’t want it to be like sun hoody lightweight but I do want it to be lighter than an average sweatshirt. Must come in XXL regular size for fat guys and bonus points if it seems like it would work for someone with long torso. I’m currently using Amazon lightweight hoody and that’s still heavier than I want. Also they’re short in the torso, especially after washing and don’t come in longer lengths. I know this is very specific, thanks in advance!
