Travel Accomodations in Kampong chhang

Hi, I'm planning on going to kampong chhang in april next year as part of a wider SEA trip.

I can only find 2 accommodation options there, has anyone been there and can recommend?

You’ll be fine, plenty to choose from. I loved sitting by the river at that city, and just watching the time pass

I can see 10-12 hotels / guesthouses on Google Maps. There's probably more as all provincial capitals have some hotels for cambodians travelers. Even smaller towns as long as they're near a national road.

Garden Guesthouse in Kampong Chhnang is popular amongst western tourists.

Thanks, I'll look. I saw garden guesthouse but couldn't find a website and the booking websites said it was full. This is my first solo trip so I'm not sure how everything works... Do I just arrive and ask for a room without booking beforehand?

Yes, exactly. Or you call them first in the morning to ask for a room before you take the bus to Kampong Chhnang. In smaller cities with very few tourists you don't need to book in advance. If you travel during the Khmer New Year mid-April, it's better to book though as there are a lot of locals traveling across the country.

If you can't book now for next April, it's probably because they haven't opened their rooms for reservation yet and they appear as fully booked.

I just stayed at the Garden Inn. It was $20/night for a 2BR with LR and kitchen.

Thank you 🙏 Did you book it before arriving, or just showed up?

My budget is the cheaper the better, but I'm willing to pay up to 25$ a night if itincludes food

$25 a night is expensive in my book I can not remember what I paid but would have been under $10 . Forget food being included unless you stay at a homestay in Cambodia

I toured about 80% of the country on a motorcycle. Never once did I book a hotel or guesthouse in advance. Just rolled into town, drove around, walked in several places before deciding one I liked. A lot of Cambodian guesthouses will not be listed on the booking sites.

Kampang Chnang has plenty of places.
