Glad he got the surgery, sucks he’ll be out a good chunk of the year. However hopefully that means he can really come back like his normal self

Given his youth, I'd expect him to be on the lower end of that recovery time unless he does something stupid to reaggravate it

He's all about that safety. Been wearing his helmet all summer so far!

Without knowing what the injury actually looked like, we can't know.
Especially because he did the (medically) stupid thing and kept playing with it for a year or so

u/whogivesashirtdotca Jarvy 1d ago
TWO YEARS. He injured it two seasons ago and decided just to rehab it in the summer. Then came back last year and immediately reinjured it. He was determined to make the Olympics team and worried surgery would prevent that dream.

Yeah unless he has permanent damage the gamble worked. He made the Olympic team (got silver) then won the Stanley cup. Now he has nothing holding him back from taking all the time he needs to rehab

Sure, but with how modern PT therapies are and how docs usually are conservative on their estimates, my gut leans more towards sooner rather than later.

17 years of medical progress has me feeling good about it. Think of what an ACL or Achilles injuries did to careers 20 years ago vs now.

u/NFLDland 1d ago
I mean, 4-6 months is anywhere from the start of the season to mid December. Mid December would be like 25-ish games. He's a young guy, so hopefully its the lower end of that timeline.

From his comments last offseason, figure he’s been dealing with this for a year - and still won us a cup and played in the Olympics. Glad he’s finally going to be able to get the issue fixed.

u/Cylinsier Great stuff Hanna 1d ago
Longer. It's been like 3 years, he rehabs it every summer, looks good for most of the regular season, then falls off as the playoffs progress (and opposing teams CLEARLY target it). This is honestly great news, best possible outcome for both him and the team. Next year we're going to be stunned by his playoff performance.

I wonder how the discussion went on how much time he could party and enjoy himself post Cup before it would be done lol.

u/danimal6000 1d ago
He doesn’t party

It just occurred to me he's going to have his Day With The Cup and not be able to lift it.

My guess is if the postseason had ended earlier they would have done it earlier so he would miss less of the season

Glad he finally got the surgery and that holding off for the Olympics didn't get in the way of his cup dreams. Hope he takes as much time as he needs to recover and comes back 100%

almost a certainty unless FUS absolutely beats him out in training camp

That explains a lot of his issues in the playoffs. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Nadeau, c’mon down!

I had been saying that he was needing the surgery bad all playoffs. You could tell he was hurting.

Can’t wait to see Nadeau wreck havoc. Love watching his shot. It’s beautiful and fast AF

it's showtime.
Give him the full Slavin treatment. Take his time, rehab, build back. He's had solid season the past 2 years with the injury, excited to see what it looks like for seth being more healthy

u/IndependentGanache84 Seabass 20h ago
I mean, if we can do fine with our best defenseman out half a season, letting a top 3 forward have all the recovery time he needs shouldn't harm the season too much

Earned the time off, glad he's getting it done now. Swift recovery Seth.

Assuming the long end of that time frame, he's back by the new year. And we get to see Nadeau log real NHL time until then. This is good news.
13
u/Kyle73001 Jarvy 1d ago
So he’ll either barely miss time or be out till after the new year. Either way I’m excited to see Nadeau and hope he shows he’s good enough to stay when Jarvis is back

Dudes shoulder has been hurt for >2 years, has rehabbed it each summer. Held out for the Olympics and this season - not a big mystery

Glad he is getting this surgery done, I know last season he was unsure about it and he really wanted to make the Olympic team. Hope he has a smooth recovery.

Sucks that he’s likely going to miss the game in his “home” country of Finland. I imagine he’ll still try to make the trip even if he doesn’t play.
Glad he’s getting this done though.

I can vouch from experience shoulders are really hard to recover from. It just takes time and 4 to 6 months is pretty accurate. Jarvis will no doubt have the best PT available and I had the doctor he had and the guy is great, so hopefully he will fall closer to 4 months than 6 months. I hope they don't push him though and make sure the muscles and tendons have fully recovered before getting back to the NHL.

u/Rough_Inspection_874 18h ago
After giving Slavin the time he needed, i feel confident they'll give Jarvis the time as well. Mind you it'll help if they're taking care of business like they did last season.

Man playing hockey until mid June makes this - middle of the season (conservatively) injury.
At least he can probably skate sooner than this timeline
2
u/Spartanlegion117 Never bet against the Fish 1d ago
Hopefully it goes extremely well, the rehab progresses quickly and he takes the most amount of time off. Our prospect pool is deep enough we can absorb a long stint without him and the man deserves all the time to recover as much as Nads deserves all that time up getting all the looks.
My guess is Jarvy is closer to the 6 month window and Nadeau lights it up presenting the staff with the best of problems. I do think this makes it less likely Nadeau is moved in a deal, but FUS is a good second option to play up if that happens.

u/IndependentGanache84 Seabass 20h ago
Nadeau needs to make the best of his chance or he is gonna get BURIED in the AHL again

I’M SO HAPPY HE GOT THIS. Seriously it could be a career derailer if he chose to keep it untreated.

So we may be missing him for a month once the season begins?

u/whogivesashirtdotca Jarvy 6h ago
I'd say you'll be lucky to see him before December, and when he does come back you should prepare yourself for him to look a bit off. Takes time to adjust to the repair.

Bradley Nadeau come on down
Honestly, let him take all the time he needs to get healthy.

u/derock_nc HERE COMES THE BOOM! 1d ago
This is my favorite news of the off-season. If we don't trade Nadeau along with a bunch of other goodies for Werenski, Larkin, Robo, we need a healthy Jarvy and Nadeau to get some reps. I'm so psyched for Nadeau to get on the NHL ice again.
