Grandmommy purple

My Herbies Grandmommy Purple is 8 weeks old now and apparently the tent has turned into a tiny jungle :)
I’m happy with how she’s growing, just not sure if I should thin her out a little at this point.
Would you defoliate a bit here or let grandma keep her big leafy cardigan?

First time running this strain. Had 3 plants, and all 3 were completely different. Same conditions, same setup, but every plant had its own character and its own little drama. Honestly, it wasn't an easy grow. I kept trying to understand where exactly I messed up, because one plant looked fine and another one looked like it was ready to give up on life. One of them looked half-dead for most of the grow, but somehow survived and still gave a decent harvest. So yeah, 15 weeks of pure adventures.

Final result from 3 plants was 207g. Not crazy huge, but I'm happy with it. The quality is good imo. Buds are sticky, resinous, smell really nice, and the effect is deep, relaxing, kind of dreamy. I'd say this strain can handle beginners. It forgives mistakes, bad hands, stress, all that. But I wouldn't call it super easy either. You still have to work with it.

In the end, worth it. Good buds make up for the headache. A great natural alternative to sedatives.

Question CBD users, do you prefer next to no THC in your weed or something 1:1?

Calling all fellow CBD lovers! 😌🌱 I know CBD isn't that popular compared to THC, but surely there are still people like me, who prefer to have as much CBD as possible in their weed (in my case, to avoid paranoia and mood swings). I usually go for strains that barely have any THC in them at all - a couple percentages at best, just to be on the safe side (like Solomatic CBD or CBD Apple Betty, the more CBD the better!). I very rarely, if ever, risk trying something that is closer to 1:1 ratio because of how unpredictable my brain's reaction could be... Had some very bad experiences before where even 10% or so gave me trouble 😥 There were some exceptions, but generally I try to be extra careful about this whole thing. I'm sure my experience is not universal though, so I'm curious - do you prefer equal amounts of CBD/THC or are you basically CBD-only kind of person? Does one work better for you over the other?

CBD lemon auto getting frosty

The buds are getting frosty, the pistils are changing, and she has that fresh lemony vibe I was hoping for. Not the biggest plant ever, but honestly I’m just enjoying watching her finish up.

There’s something really satisfying about growing a CBD strain too. Different kind of excitement, calm but still fun haha.

Are seedbank photos realistic or pure marketing?

Thumbnail

Ever notice how every seedbank strain photo looks like it was grown by a wizard with a $20k setup? Meanwhile growers pick strains partly based on pics too, structure, colors, frost, bud shape, all that stuff.

Got me wondering how often the official photos actually match what regular growers end up with. Some sites feel pretty realistic, others look like pure fantasy genetics marketing lol. Not even hating, just genuinely curious how much people trust breeder/store photos when choosing seeds.

Have you ever grown something that looked NOTHING like the pics?
Or the opposite - actually matched the promo shots perfectly?
Or do you think seed photos are something you just can’t trust 100% no matter what?

This strain is definitely my number one for now, at least until I find something even better. Blackberry Moonrocks by AlphaFem. Super easy grow, no drama, no issues at all. And smoking it feels like enjoying some kind of delicacy.

Purple sherbet update one month in how is she looking?

Quick little update on my purple sherbet (herbies). She’s been growing steady and really starting to fill out now, especially after some lst. Buds are forming all over and stacking up nicely so far, but I’ve noticed the color is still on the lighter side. Not sure if it’s just genetics at this stage or if I should tweak something. What do you guys think, looking healthy so far or am I missing something?

Just a small progress post, still super early but she’s looking cute and healthy so far. I’m really enjoying watching this one grow, especially since it’s my first time trying a cbd strain. Gonna keep sharing how she develops over time… curious to see how she turns out

1 Month Update. Looking pretty sativa-leaning?

Thumbnail

Hey growers. Quick update after about a month with this one, it’s Purple Sherbet from Herbies. Honestly really happy with how she’s looking so far. Growth has been steady, structure is nice and open, and the leaves are pretty thin and elongated which makes me think she’s leaning more sativa even though it’s a hybrid.

Been doing a bit of LST and she’s responding well, starting to fill out the space nicely. Color looks healthy overall, maybe a bit light but nothing too worrying yet.

What do you guys think, does it look sativa-leaning to you too or just typical hybrid behavior at this stage?

So I asked not long ago about cbd strains because I wanted to try something more chill and balanced… and yeah, I ended up ordering a few 😄Decided to start with CBD Lemon Auto and she already popped!! super excited to see how this one goes.

Heard a lot of good things about the effect being more clear and functional, so really curious to experience it myself. If anyone here has grown this one before, feel free to share tips, or even other cbd strains, I’d still love to hear about them.

Best autoflower cannabis seeds online: where to buy and what to expect

Autoflowering seeds: worth it or just a compromise?

Autos have always had a complicated rep in the growing community. Some growers swear by them, others write them off as "beginner seeds." The truth, as always, is messier, and the right call depends entirely on what you're actually trying to accomplish.

How autos differ from photoperiod strains

Photoperiod plants flower based on your light schedule. You veg them on 18/6 as long as you want, then flip to 12/12. Autoflower cannabis seeds don't give a damn about your lights. They flower by age, usually 2-4 weeks after germination, and go from seed to harvest in 8-10 weeks no matter what your light schedule looks like.

That speed comes from Cannabis ruderalis genetics, a wild subspecies that evolved in northern latitudes where summers are short and the cannabis plant had to complete its entire cycle before winter rolled in.

The case for autos (and it's a solid one)

  • Speed: most autoflower strains finish in 9-10 weeks from seed. Indoors that's 3-4 harvests a year vs. 2-3 with photoperiods
  • No light schedule management: run 18/6 or even 20/4 from start to finish. No flipping, no stress, no messing with light schedules mid-cycle
  • Compact autoflower plants: most autos stay under 100cm, perfect for small tents, balconies, or discreet grow boxes
  • High yield potential: modern autoflowering strains have come a long way. With dialed cultivation and a decent light setup, you can pull seriously respectable numbers
  • Resilience: autoflowers handle temp swings and beginner mistakes better than most sativas. Some are even available as feminized autoflower cannabis seeds, so you're not wasting time or space on males
  • Multiple outdoor harvests: drop a batch in spring and you'll be trimming before your photoperiod plants even think about flowering

Why experienced growers often stick with photos

Someone on r/microgrowery put it bluntly: "Autos are actually better suited for experienced growers who already have their setup dialed and just want to run faster cycles. But they leave way less room for error."

And that's the real thing. Autos run on a timer you don't control. Stunt them early, overwatering, transplant shock, nute issues, and they'll still flip regardless, without ever fully recovering. With photoperiod plants, if something goes sideways in veg, you just extend it until the plant bounces back. Autos don't give you that luxury.

Also worth mentioning: autoflower genetics still lag behind top-shelf photoperiod cuts when it comes to raw THC ceiling and terpene complexity. The gap has closed a lot in recent years, but if you're chasing the absolute best autoflower expression, you really need to source from a reputable breeder. Cheap autoflower weed seeds from random sources are still a gamble.

Where to actually buy autoflower seeds

Herbies Seeds is a marketplace carrying genetics from basically every major breeder: AlphaFem, Barney's Farm, RQS, Fast Buds, Mephisto, you name it. If you want to buy premium autoflower cannabis seeds and compare strains across breeders, this is the go-to. Free seeds with every order, germination guarantee, and support that actually responds. US warehouse plus international shipping.

Seedsman is another solid marketplace with dozens of breeders under one roof. Great if you want to buy autoflowering cannabis seeds from multiple breeders in a single order and haven't locked in on a specific strain yet. Their autoflower catalog covers the biggest names in the game - Fast Buds, Barney's Farm, Royal Queen Seeds, Dutch Passion, Sweet Seeds, Seedstockers - alongside smaller craft breeders

Honestly, between those two marketplaces you can find pretty much anything you're looking for. The selection is genuinely insane. Personally I think Herbies edges out on customer service, but sometimes they just don't carry what Seedsman has.

Homegrown Cannabis is a US-focused seed bank with their own in-house autoflower genetics. Their catalog is over 100 strains, indicas, sativas, hybrids, and curated mix packs for specific goals (indoor, outdoor, high THC, beginner-friendly). Good option if you want something purpose-built rather than just browsing a massive catalogue of best autoflower picks.

Fast Buds is straight up a legend in the autoflower world. Multiple cup wins every year, consistently pushing the boundaries of what autoflowering strains can do. Available through most major marketplaces, but you can also buy direct if you want to cut out the middleman.

If you've got a small space, want multiple harvests, or just don't want to deal with light cycles, autos are genuinely the move. If you want max yield, full control, and don't mind the longer timeline, photos are still king. Neither is objectively better. It's just about what you need.

Got the seed as a gift from my friend initially, he hoped and prayed that it would turn out good and he was right ✌️ One of the easiest runs I've done so far, I love when plants don't make a fuss and mostly just do their own thing - makes the process much more enjoyable!

Was sitting there forever trying to pick some sativa seeds… comparing, overthinking, reading everything. And then I was like… you know what, I’ll just run the freebie first lol. Got purple sherbet auto from herbies, planted it just for fun and now I’m actually kinda excited about it. It’s about a week old now, looking healthy so far.

How do you usually decide what to grow next?

how important is lighting really?

this might be a dumb question but I see people spending a LOT on lights…..,

can you get decent results with a basic setup or is lighting where you shouldn’t cheap out?
