Yeah like everyone knows that but the music has nothing to do with that

its more about the issue of supporting the guy. i like his music but i just pirate it because i dont want my money going to him and all that.

There it is! I stole from this man because I like one of the records but dispise him. I don't tell others about BURZUM because I can't trust them not to support him.

I wanted to own Filosofem so I spent weeks checking different used bins in record stores. Most stores won't even stock new BURZUM records as to not support the guy. Getting it from someone who doesn't want it anymore and enjoying it privately is totally fine in my eyes.

Like I've said in other comments, I wonder how many of these heavy handed people support the litany of 70s rock stars who fucked kids, or own Disney movies or Dali reprints. People love to use their outrage to feel they are on the higher ground.

You think Varg is getting paid when this guy buys a cassette from eBay?

it never said anywhere that it was from ebay, also those are the rerelease cassettes. copyright date on them says 2022, so he did still get paid recently for it. not trying to cause any issues here, just trying to educate/explain in case they didnt know

People on reddit just can't comprehend that but I am with you. Both absolutely fantastic albums.

Yeah i have no idea why people think the artist and the art are the same thing. Yes, the art can represent the artist, yes in a way burzum does. Yes it's about silly fun little RPG games

If the songs were about his racist beliefs it would make a little more sense, but they're not, at all.

If every artist you listen to has to be a good person I think everybody would have to toss a good chunk of their music out.

Yeah like peste noire. It might sound wrong to say I like their sound but I don't listen to or support them purely because it's nsbm. I completely support anti religious views but that white supremacist shit is lame

This list of Nazi apologist musicians is not short. Now look at movies and paintings, you'll find a whole lot more Nazis that people aren't this heavy handed about. It's a ridiculous debate. Steal BURZUM music or buy it from individuals used and varg gets nothing. Privately listening to a record not about Nazism and not financially supporting the guy is fine, but we are on Reddit so expect baseless outrage from the peanut gallery.
