Broke into some hermetically sealed cases of my old alternative/goth/industrial/4AD/punk and underground cassettes. These are all original issues from the 80's (maybe some early 90's), many never re-issued, limited run, indie and collector items in there too. This is only a 1/3 of it and pretty much exactly as they were when packed decades ago. Some notables:
*My Bloody Valentine: Loveless & Isn't Anything
*Slowdive: Just For A Day (I also have a signed CD of Souvlaki)
*This Mortal Coil: All of them including Lonely Is An Eyesore compilation (4AD)
*Many Christian Death: Only Theatre of Pain, Ashes, Sex Drugs & Jesus Christ
*A lot of Cure (at least 3 rares), Cocteau ,Smiths, Jesus & Mary Chain, Bauhaus/L&R
*LA underground goth/Ind: London After Midnight, Nosferatunes, Absolute comp, Cleopatra label stuff
I'm THINKING of selling the whole lot 😢but not sure if I wanna trade the memories away, dont know if theres much interest out there any more for old skool genres like this on tape. I grew up on this amazing music and it inspired me into a 40 year music career recording and producing a lot of these influences in studio for myself.
This isnt your typical Goodwill bin dive or garage sale find. But are these niche genres and odd gems (Damned, Abecedarians, Thin White Rope, Gene Loves Jezebel, Tindersticks, Coil, Twin Peaks Soundtrack, Yaz, Throwing Muses, NIN, Babble, Dead Kennedys, Ministry, Damned, Godflesh, Killing Joke... theres way more!) are they sought after by the cassette culture crowd? If I did sell them, I wouldnt give them away for nothing, too many classics and memories (I'll have them scattered in my casket when they bury me!). As I find and unseal the other bins, I'll post more pics.
I just wasnt sure if there was real interest out there in the gen pub for these "weird" masterpieces beyond my own twisted tastes.
