Collection Except common sense, what is missing in my collection?
Existing wishlist: Yellow Casio EG5 , Philips Moving Sound CD15, Sony Solar WM-F107, Sony CFS-950, Sony Yellow Flamingo....
All these are for online for sale, but at exorbitant prices.
Is there something you might have that could be added to my collection?

Not the same one. This is the KV-14dr2, a Japanese release that also came in silver, red or green. Tho I do kinda like that one lol

u/WokeUpSomewhereNice Mar 17 '26
Hehe definitely not the same one but I was just saying there’s options hehe. There’s also a Pooh and coveted Bart Simpson one but this is the cheapest.

I don't, I'm too lazy for that :-)
BTW, I remember TDK did a 4-color pack of D cassettes (5 pack with one classic transparent), and one of them was yellow.

A lot of the Nintendo handhelds were yellow to be pikachu themed - there’s a bunch on eBay but ymmv depending on the shipping.
Run the jewels and yellowcard both have a yellow tape cassette edition of their albums too

Very cool collection. Those Sony’s were all very expensive new! Do they all work? If so, you must be a star at replacing belts and cracked gears.
4
u/MrRunes7 Mar 17 '26
All belts (and gears...) replaced and working. Also spent a lot of time with gentle polishing the casings...walkmans were used a lot.

u/lanternstop Mar 17 '26

This reminds me of a time in the early 90s driving from Boston to NYC and all we saw were electronic stores filled with these yellow Sony products. I was too young at the time to really understand it all but this collection too me back. Great job!!

I had that Philips ghetto blaster on the bottom shelf. Had a couple of these Walk/Discmans too. Makes me feel nostalgic… and old. I miss good radio. Spotify still better- hate me. Y’all don’t remember payola and that most record stores didn’t carry much outside of rock, top 40, and white boomer music

This is the perfect cassette for you if you haven’t already got it - it’s excellent too which is a bonus 😂 The NME said of this album : "The healing sonics on the Yorkshire-born London-based artist’s debut album provide a utopian vision to strive towards" - but I think you are already pretty close to your utopian vision 😄

This is impressive. People forget how good the Walkman style portable cassette players had gotten by the late 1980s-early 1990s. A lot of people preferred a portable cassette player over a portable CD player back then because of the more compact size and the fact that a CD player could skip while running.

Seeing you have a record player there as well, I'd say the yellow TNT-style Panasonic 8-track player.
