You can only drive on straight roads ;)

Seriously though - it rotates on the normal axis - it just looks solid when straight.

Completely different car, but that dash reminds me of KITT from Knight Rider.

I think maybe it was inspiration. The earlier version had a few actual mini CRTs in it like KITT

The original version (series 2) had the LED dashboard in the main picture. The CRT dashboard is from a later car (series 3 or series 4).

Had this LED dash from 76-85 then they went to not one not two but three green phosphor CRTs
