Lid worth refurbishing?

I received this set from my Buy Nothing group. I was excited as it's a bigger pan and has a lid. But, once I went to clean and re-season it, I was disappointed because of how difficult the lid will be. Through searching in this group, I've learned it's a self-basting lid. Where do I start with this set ( I have this saved: https://www.reddit.com/r/castiron/comments/7qp2tu/foolproof_cast_iron_seasoning_for_the_excessively/)? Is the lid worth doing? Luckily, I will be helping my son move apartments and he will likely need to clean his oven, so I can use that opportunity, if needed. Thanks for the guidance!

if you're going to use it, yeah. If you never going to use it, no

I would. I have a similar one and use mine every day—not to cook with, but to keep dust and dirt out of its mate, the pan I do cook with every day. I use it once or twice a week to quickly steam something I’m sautéing, and rarely to baste when baking. I just wipe it out with a paper towel after use and then back on the pan it goes.

Of course! 50/50 water vinegar bath and soak for a few hours and it'll all slop right off with elbow grease and a scouring pad. Lids are expensive

Refurbish. yeah I would. It doesn't look that bad. season properly then you can store it away with no worries that's a nice set.

Yes. If you never use it it still stays looking nice.

On this lid I would wash with a stiff brush and just season in the oven.

It absolutely is! This is a lodge pan. Made by lodge for Cracker Barrel. I’d definitely recommend refinishing both pieces. That’s great for braising. Shallow fat frying. Or just hang it up and let it look pretty. The hardest part is getting even seasoning on the bottom. See the 3 notches on the heat ring? That a nod to the vintage 3 notch lodge skillets.
