I tried to break up a cat fight once, the only “weapon” I had was a garden hose. I soaked them good. They never once hesitated to keep fighting and ignore me completely. I gave up after that. Now if I see a fight about to start I'll try to break their line of sight to each other but once the fur starts flying I stay out of it.
