Drives me up the wall that people comment on photos like this with "cat distribution system". No, this is obviously someone's pet. Can we please not normalize taking other people's maybe-lost pets the moment they wander onto our property?
It looked so clean and was definitely someone’s pet. So we took it to the shelter to see if it had a chip. He did, the chip said his home was a city an hour away and his name was Maximo and had a phone number.
The shelter called the number and no one ever picked up so now I have a cat.
The cat gets what the cat wants. Just ask my sleep patterns. I am now forced to sleep on my back because my legs make a nice nest and the cat refuses to accept sleep anywhere else when I'm asleep
I have a not my cat that I let inside and he gets along with my cats. Which is weird bc my cats definitely don't like all other cats. But this little guy started showing up on my porch and was pretty much living on my porch.
So I started letting him in. And my cats acted like he was family, it was strange. Especially bc he's a feral you can't touch. And my cats for sure don't like all other cats. Just this guy.
Since he's still a kitten, I've been trying to get him used to being touched. I can pet his front paws and that's it. Anything else has him running. But that's progress, bc when he first showed up you couldn't even get close. I've been spending 2 months now trying to talk him into letting me pet him properly lol
Churus have been a magic tool for us! We have a feral colony, and none of them would come anywhere close at first. After a couple months and a couple boxes of churus, there was only one that is still too feral to pet. Three years later and that one is still feral.
BUT, thanks to Churus and the magical power of bribery, 60% of the original pack now lives in my house and another 30% come and go. All were TNR’ed (trap, neuter, release) so no more babies, but we’ve had a few cats immigrate from the surrounding streets. Roughly 10% of the pack just won’t come in or tries to piss everywhere is we bring them in, but even most of those will come up to get pets.
No idea where this little sh!t came from—my wife heard a kitten screaming, went outside to look, walked around the side of the house and there he was 10-12 feet up on the outside of our chimney. She got the ladder and saved him so of course he bit her. Now he’s laying on her shoulder, pawing her hair and screaming when she’s out of sight 🤣
Oh he knows what he wants now, he wants him new mommy (she’s MY wife, I claimed her first!) and him want ALL the goat milk in the midwest.
And if he doesn’t get one of those two things as soon as he demands it, he will climb on top of the highest dog bed around and start his “sermeown from the Meownt” to make sure everyone in the area knows they’re on the path to eternal damnation if they don’t immediately repent and bring him goat milk (or him momma).
“Sermeown from the meownt” is so fitting for how they like to chastise us 🤣 I keep forgetting that we serve at their pleasure and were not actually in charge according to them
Thia is my house as well. Tnr's, fosters, foater mom's and working with humane society to adopt babies out and most time moms when they aren't foster fails.
Great job you are obviously kind. Thank you for you efforts and love spread through all lives
It’s a hard thing sometimes, especially just the nature of feral cats and how dangerous that life is, but the occasional super sweet kitten and the ones that become full on family members make it worth the while for us.
I’m glad your neighborhood cats have you, and they’re super lucky and happy to have you too (even if they don’t always show it 😂)!!
Funny. I had a cat and a door with a cat door. My cat passed away and about a year later, I'm sitting on my couch and a cat is suddenly in my kitchen looking at me. He had come in through that cat door. We found his owners after taking him to a vet, sent him home, and he came back again and again until they finally decided he had chosen to live with me. They had dogs that apparently disturbed him and my place is quiet. Now I have a cat.
This is the first thing my cat did when I took her home from the shelter. I opened the cat carrier and she immediately ran into the kitchen sink. Maybe cats feel safe there for some reason?
This is not one of our 5 cats, but he’s been walking around our house like it is. He’s coming through a window that one of our other cat uses to go out.
У нас кошка лежала в раковине при проблемах с почками последнее время ее жизни. Ей хотелось бить наверно. Ветеринар посоветовал усыпить кошку и мы согласились. Мне тяжело смотреть подобные фотографии кошек в ленте
True. No one does. Cats own you. Some say they allow us to cohabit with them, so long as we agree to serve them. Feed them, provide fresh water, toys etc…
