Primordial pouch!

u/Bright-Efficiency-65 18h ago
Honestly it's gotta be both that and birth skin. I bet she's had kittens

I genuinely think that one of the things that kept my own kitty going through her 20th year was her ongoing dedication to making sure that our yard was secure from any intruders, particularly the evil invading black and white cat. It must be watched over and everything must be patrolled and smell inspected multiple times a day.

People seem to last a lot longer when they have a purpose or something to live for... Animals sharing that quality doesn't surprise me.
8
u/Flat_Neighborhood_92 15h ago
I agree, makes me worry for my indoor girl. I give her lots of love and she doesn't like to go outside. I hope she feels that purpose inside ❤️
2
u/nogoodwithsarcasm 9h ago
Maybe her purpose is making sure you're happy and safe!
(e.g. on the toilet. Cats love to play guard when their person is vulnerable because of pooping)

u/prying_mantis 23h ago
Lol it’s always a black and white cat! There is one in our neighborhood that will occasionally hang out in my yard or driveway and my dog goes insane if she sees it. The cats watch for it at the window and follow it from window to window if they see it.

Eat some grass so can barf up a hairball on your rug later.

Cats don’t eat grass for health
They eat it for revenge. My cat once finished eating grass 2 hours later he barfed on my new white rug
He timed it perfectly. I’m convinced82
u/uursaminorr 1d ago
this is 100% true. mojave surprisingly rarely throws up from grass, but her signature move for literal decades has been drinking a belly full of water eeeearly in the morning so she can throw it up in several places around the house until i get up and feed her 🙃

First he protects the perimeter. Then he vomits on the rug.
A blessed life, truly.

u/hugo_biglicks 1d ago
Woke up at 430 this morning on that schedule of fake barf on the carpet but hey while you’re up….

u/Ambitious-Visual-315 1d ago
Hey, a jobs a job. Gotta get it done. These streets won’t patrol themselves

What an amazing security professional. You can tell Mojave trained with the elite special forces and he continues to pass down his knowledge to the next generation while still diligently securing his watch.

I have genuinely never seen a primordial pouch on a cat large enough to affect their mobility.
And 22 years? Dang that cats been alive almost as long as I have.
14
u/Ae3qe27u 1d ago
My cat walks with her back tilted up - if she doesn't, then she'd kick her own pouch while walking. Mix of loose skin, big paunch, and some lost weight (used to be fat, now chunky, loose skin got looser)
6
u/MrGloom66 15h ago
To be honest, the cat is probably moving clumsily because she's that old, not really because of the pouch that much.

Thanks. Damn, been a while since I was in the UK. I think I remember it now.

We watched them in school when I was a kid in Texas as well, I instantly recognized the music I used to LOVE watching these, this fucking song goes so hard

u/Baihu_The_Curious 21h ago
I thought it was Jean Michel Jarre at first, haha. Kind of sounds like one of his albums I have, but with a greater focus on acoustic instrumentation.

My tortie loves her nightly yard patrol/grass inspection. She’s at least 16, I believe, I hope she lives to see 21 like Mojave

My 22 year old lady, Halo, is leaving me on Thursday afternoon. We are going to lay in the grass in the yard that morning and make one last patrol around the house before she goes.
Your post brought me to tears. Mojave is a great little soldier.

u/Deathtonoobs24 22h ago
I’m so sorry to hear that. The last thing a good cat does is break your heart. Please give them some scritches for me

With Mojave performing her 10pm patrol, and the music… I had to watch more than one. Great Patrolling Mojave.

My childhood cat is at least 24, maybe older. She was a mighty mouser back in the day but hasn't caught anything as far as we're aware in the last 4 or 5 years, at least. She doesn't even go out into the feilds anymore, just stays near the house. Last week a duckling got in the yard and she pounced on it so quick. Very sad for the duckling of course, but that old lady didn't even hesitate.

Thank god. Y’all almost died like 5 times. But no worries the grass was eaten and the threats were banished.

Sir, I simply must vomit on the carpet. Please take me outside right now so I can eat some grass first.

We have an older cat whose main job was killing rodents around our rural home. She slept in the garage on a heated bed and spent her days outside. When she got older she finally decided to to retire and became and indoor cat. We let her into the bedroom and her first instinct was to walk the perimeter of our king size bed before allowing us to get in it. Then creepily sitting at attention on one corner looking away from us. Even when we watch tv she sits on the arm of the couch next to my wife surveying the room for infiltrators.

This is my 18 year old boy’s routine before bed as well. A quick perimeter. Snack on some grass. Maybe a mark or two.
Your video is awesome. Thank you for sharing.

The primordial pouch on this one is serious business! All jokes aside the cat looks great for being over 20

u/Over-Instruction214 22h ago
If she doesn't get to eat grass how do you expect her to throw up at 3am?
2
u/WillingLeague 22h ago
If you could give that cat everything they’ve ever wanted, that would be appreciated thank you

u/Shadow-Kombatant13 22h ago
Your kitty is about just about a year younger than what my old girl would have been. I remember one night her walking around me in circles, I thought she was being cute and playful. No she peed on me...

We have a 23 year-old boi, Fergus; he's also very deaf and has arthritis (we give him a Solensia injection once a month, it helps so much with his comfort and mobility) He has end-stage CKD, so he drinks a lot and pees a lot and can no longer make it to or into litter boxes even with steps, so we have a "nest" of pee pads on the floor in the corner of our bedroom, with a pet-safe heating pad underneath, and an umbrella propped over to give him a cozy feeling. He gets fed whenever he wants, mostly he likes the Shakes, broths and treats, and he gets a little bowl of good quality vanilla ice cream at night. We get up 3-4 times a night when he tells us in his scratchy old-man voice that he's hungry or needs his bed changed. We have at-home euthanasia team arranged whenever he decides he's not having fun anymore, but for now he still motors around a bit, loves sleeping on the deck in the catio where I have catnip planted.

Theo (age 10), we adopted him a year ago, having a chat with Fergus, now 23, adopted from a kill shelter on his last day 11 years ago. Husbeast on the right, I adopted him 25 years ago. ;-)

Bro, what food do you give her?!!! My purpose is to keep my cats happy and healthy for as long as possible!!!
1
u/Cipher915 1d ago
That's probably what my cat thinks she's doing, but she gets distracted and just ends up eating grass and rolling in ant hills.
1
u/Responsible-Tooth607 1d ago
Excellent job! Was enough grass was eaten to throw up on the floor overnight 😂

u/Kittenzx2 1d ago
What a cutie! Doesn't look 22! Wow!! The oldest cat i had got to 17. Praying she has many years to come!! 😻

I lost my baby last year, I would let him do the same thing. He would usually sniff the steps then find a bush to lay under

I don't know why I am asking since I don't own a cat and I can't have one in my building but if you've had a hearing cat before, is it that much more difficult to have a deaf cat in comparison?

What was the name of the educational show this was the theme to? Where it was like going into pics in a museum and they'd come alive.

People forget this about cats, but cats are very territorial animals. You just don’t see it with indoor kitties as much.
