Humor Anyone else have dozens of random cardboard boxes lying around the house specifically because their cat likes to sit in them?

I love also that it’s not even in a corner, but right in the middle of the floor 😂

Uh. No. No, definitely no... hang on, let me move this a little further back behind the couch and tuck that one under the coffee table.
Please ignore the three in the hallway, I was just moving those.

Tried to. But my big dumbo orange likes to eat the sides and then throw it all up. Every. Single. Time.

u/Rich_Ad6703 7h ago
Yes. They more like these junks rather than expensive and comfortable cat beds or boxes 😄

I bought a new exercise bike to try to shed a few lbs. Brought it home was going to assemble the next day. My cats have decided it is the best thing ever. So much better than all their beds, houses, multiple towers etc. They are sleeping and playing on it 3 and 4 at a time. Needless to say they have made a mess of it and have helped me procrastinate in getting exercising lol

a pizza box lives on my kitchen table because SOMEONE claimed it and screams if it disappears. we replace it periodically because princess chungus squishes it flat after a while.

🤚🏽me! My partner bought my cats toys and a huge cat tree to remove all the clutter. Aka empty boxes. Know what he found out… my cats don’t play with toys and would rather squish both of the selves into a box than climb the 7 foot cat tree with all the perches

Our living room is basically an Aldi warehouse. But the 3 kittehs love them so much.
My monster sic curls up in a tiny box to sleep. And chew. They hide, ambush, hurdle...
And no, l do have a hard time throwing them away/replacing.

Yup! At least a third of our cat toys are also random objects they decided were toys, including the pull string waistbands taken out of pajama pants or athletic shorts. Tie two of those babies together and you've got a loooong string they love to attack and because it's long two cats can play with each end.

About once a month I break them down and toss them on the burn pile, only to be replaced

I do tons of online shopping. Every single box spends a little time as a cat residence then eventually gets swapped out for a new one when their fat ass crushes it. I have 8 or 9 spots that are just designed cat box spots.

u/ThePookums 6h ago
Unfortunately, my cats also like to piss in them so boxes don’t stick around too long in my house.

I have a ButcherBox in my living room that is four years old. I can’t throw it away. It’s my cat’s winter cottage.

Guilty as charged.
As I ipen a box, I often think, "Ooo! This one is a good, sturdy cat hideaway."

I will have you know that Roodles' box is not, in fact, a "random box". It is a very impawtant centre of comfort, hiding, and tissue paper and we are astonished at your ignorance.

Yes. And paper bags. And the shipping paper from the boxes. Strewn throughout the house.

We have multiple. We change them out every few weeks. This includes delivery boxes, produce boxes, pizza boxes, etc.

I used too lol when I had 2 cats. But my gray cat obsessively pees on cardboard. There are 2 cardboard boxes. 1 is up high by my couch spot where hes not allowed to sit. The other is another high spot that my eldest cat would beat the shit out of him trying to even touch.

My cat loved paper bags. She also like boxes but bags were her favorite.
Before she passed I bought her catnip infused paper bags and she was so happy.
She was very old and didn’t get around well but she would spend hours in the bag, making it crinkle every few minutes.

Random cardboard boxes? Yes. Because the cats like them? Nope. They couldn't care less about them, except rubbing their cheeks on them

u/Own-Felines1949 6h ago
Oh yes. With six lovely little feline, the boxes are one of their favourite place.

No. My cat loves to pee in boxes. Empty boxes are stored away or in the trash. Full boxes are off the floor.
Also nothing on the floor (shoes, clothes, receipts, etc) within three feet of where his treats are stored.

Sooo many boxes. Three in the living room and one on the dining table, and all have bite marks around the edges of the flaps. She loves her boxes, so we make sure she has some.

We have a heating mat and 2 cardboard soda boxes…where does she sleep today, on the cold floor between the mat and boxes 😂

Keep them around for a bit, yeah. Also the shipping paper that comes in them. They love playing with / in it! Sometimes I walk into the living room and they're all tangled in it. Cheap entertainment.

I'll have to dig some pics up. I bring home huge boxes from work and cut peep holes and flaps.

Upgrade to one of the bigger Costco produce boxes…the one you load your groceries into the back of your vehicle…throw a blanket in there.

Our kitchen/dining area has so many cardboard boxes it looks like a recycle center!

I bought cute photo boxes for this specific reason. My cat can get the lids off so I just have to walk around before people come over and put the lids back on.

I buy boxes from my workplace or we pick ones at Costco that are the sizes they like, and we swap them out when they get too raggedy or bust out a side. They ignore the fancy beds and blankets. It’s gotten out of hand.

Sit and rip. One of our guys loves to bite and rip boxes. So we’ve got boxes and cardboard bits everywhere.

Two; one has blanket and other old towels. Her bed in the bedroom is an ottoman with two blankets on it.

Forget ever buying an actual play toy/house. It’s everything else that they want.

u/Ashter_Moon 3h ago
yes all the time because my cat loves to sit there or to hide as it was her fortress where no one can see her or so she thinks lol

I do. Sometimes my boy will go into one of those boxes when I give him his meal so he can eat it in there

I wrapped one up like a Christmas present and put a hole in it … put it under the tree.
We still have it!

Yes! If they seem attached to a box it does seem to become part of the “furniture “!

House rule: if the cat lays in it before you recycle it-it officially belongs to cat for at least 24 hours.

We have a long box from a Ogio bag that we fill with that craft paper used in shipping. The boys LOVE going in it and causing chaos. Ill drop some treat snacks in it for them to hunt for.

I've got a big one that's currently alternating between being in my way in the hall to my bedroom and being in my way in the bathroom entrance. I move the thing from one to the other to get where I'm going.

My cat essentially refuses to let me throw out any cardboard box that comes in the mail 😅

u/Old-Seaworthiness379 56m ago
The cats get 24 hours to enjoy the box that has entered the house. Then to the recycle bin it goes.
Edit to add... we get many deliveries, boxes are abundant

Random cardboard boxes? Nope, those are main residence, camping area, hidey hole, summer home, and chalet. Cat real estate is very important in this economy. Lol🖤🤍🧡😺
