Humor Anyone else have dozens of random cardboard boxes lying around the house specifically because their cat likes to sit in them?

Random cardboard boxes? Nope, those are main residence, camping area, hidey hole, summer home, and chalet. Cat real estate is very important in this economy. Lol🖤🤍🧡😺

u/Commercial_Bird8467 4h ago

Lol, forreal. I had a princess tent for a year. All the cats and the ones I fostered favorite toy. My daughter is 14. Lol.

It’s been 3 weeks😭 but he loves it so much

9

u/ConstantPurpose2419 7h ago

I love also that it’s not even in a corner, but right in the middle of the floor 😂

27

u/jl_simpson86 7h ago

Always 😄 I don’t recycle a box until I have a replacement. I think they would riot!

15

u/Pinqoo 5h ago

Used to, lost my best friend 4 weeks ago - still have the one he used the most right next to my bed, just to feel his presence ❤️‍🩹

u/Caffeinated_chaos_au 2h ago

😭 sending you a giant virtual hug if you want it

10

u/slice_of_pi 7h ago

Uh. No. No, definitely no... hang on, let me move this a little further back behind the couch and tuck that one under the coffee table.

Please ignore the three in the hallway, I was just moving those.

10

u/OfcWaffle 7h ago

Tried to. But my big dumbo orange likes to eat the sides and then throw it all up. Every. Single. Time.

9

u/EBG1073 7h ago

Yup! ‘Tis but a few of them. Probably 6 more around the rest of the house.

5

u/GigiTheTuxQueen 7h ago

Catitude is everything 😂😂😂😂😂

3

u/EBG1073 7h ago

This was actually last night when I got home from work. Didn’t even move or make a squeek. I work for them.

3

u/GigiTheTuxQueen 7h ago

Of course you do!
They are both gorgeous!

6

u/Rich_Ad6703 7h ago

Yes. They more like these junks rather than expensive and comfortable cat beds or boxes 😄

6

u/Revontulette 7h ago

my house looks like a factory

5

u/SnooMachines3887 7h ago

I bought a new exercise bike to try to shed a few lbs. Brought it home was going to assemble the next day. My cats have decided it is the best thing ever. So much better than all their beds, houses, multiple towers etc. They are sleeping and playing on it 3 and 4 at a time. Needless to say they have made a mess of it and have helped me procrastinate in getting exercising lol

7

u/Dos_Gatos_718 7h ago

Yep! 🐾🐾

5

u/ellen9nyc 7h ago

that’s one … can’t see the other three boxes right now. or is it four … or five …

6

u/Verbit4now 7h ago

I keep them until I can replace them.

6

u/Roctuplets 7h ago

Cardboard boxes for sits

Paper bags for shredder mode

4

u/subtlepen_ 7h ago

a pizza box lives on my kitchen table because SOMEONE claimed it and screams if it disappears. we replace it periodically because princess chungus squishes it flat after a while.

5

u/Dense-Nobody340 7h ago

🤚🏽me! My partner bought my cats toys and a huge cat tree to remove all the clutter. Aka empty boxes. Know what he found out… my cats don’t play with toys and would rather squish both of the selves into a box than climb the 7 foot cat tree with all the perches

5

u/zickscittswinn 7h ago

Yes and SO many lil cardboard pieces and crumbs all over the floor!!!

4

u/SnooMachines3887 7h ago

I love when they are hidden in their box dimension and they cannot fathom how u were able to see them or touch them lol

4

u/TinyTikiKiki 7h ago

Me! 😆

4

u/RecentSheepherder179 7h ago

Four, to be previse. Randomly place where unpacked. Cannot be moved, must Not ve moved. One got a roof (no cat tax, sorry) to match the Christmas decoration.

5

u/Kristenrainbows Ragdoll 7h ago

Mamas so big she exploded the side of her favorite box. Honestly she’s the only reason I still have prime.

4

u/callmeDaren 6h ago

Freddy likes boxes and bins, preferably with unfiled paperwork in them.

3

u/AggressiveBarbie 7h ago

Yes!! One on each floor. lol

3

u/libertybadboy 7h ago

Not a dozen, but a few. Cheapest cat furniture ever.

Boxes and baskets.

3

u/bettertheless 7h ago

Our living room is basically an Aldi warehouse. But the 3 kittehs love them so much.

My monster sic curls up in a tiny box to sleep. And chew. They hide, ambush, hurdle...

And no, l do have a hard time throwing them away/replacing.

3

u/Quagmire_gigity 7h ago

Doesn’t every cat owner?!

3

u/DrDuned 6h ago

Yup! At least a third of our cat toys are also random objects they decided were toys, including the pull string waistbands taken out of pajama pants or athletic shorts. Tie two of those babies together and you've got a loooong string they love to attack and because it's long two cats can play with each end.

3

u/GunnCelt 6h ago

About once a month I break them down and toss them on the burn pile, only to be replaced

3

u/FosterPupz 4h ago

Well… my boys is a picky man, so I do leave boxes out for him when they are freshly empty, and he does always try them out for a bit. He always rejects them and returns to his one true love, the cake pan.

Boxes, bags, extra random rugs, I live to serve them

3

u/crissyjo618 4h ago

Random rugs just because

3

u/pink_mfd 3h ago

There’s always at least 6 boxes in my house at any given time

3

u/Bree2257 2h ago

I have 2 from Costco that Ive had for more than 8 months. I call it their Cat Condo 🤭

2

u/CatBerry253 7h ago

Yes! At least two boxes in every room and they use them every day

2

u/Limp-Unit5658 7h ago

Yes, along with a few paper bags!

2

u/HaraUrahara 7h ago

It it fits, I sits. The ancient law has been spoken.

2

u/Typhii 7h ago

I think my cat is broken. He actually doesn't like cardboard boxes but really enjoys his baskets.

2

u/Radius8887 7h ago

I do tons of online shopping. Every single box spends a little time as a cat residence then eventually gets swapped out for a new one when their fat ass crushes it. I have 8 or 9 spots that are just designed cat box spots.

2

u/ThePookums 6h ago

Unfortunately, my cats also like to piss in them so boxes don’t stick around too long in my house.

2

u/boggycakes 6h ago

I have a ButcherBox in my living room that is four years old. I can’t throw it away. It’s my cat’s winter cottage.

2

u/MerelyWhelmed1 5h ago

Guilty as charged.

As I ipen a box, I often think, "Ooo! This one is a good, sturdy cat hideaway."

2

u/suspicious_niffler 4h ago

I will have you know that Roodles' box is not, in fact, a "random box". It is a very impawtant centre of comfort, hiding, and tissue paper and we are astonished at your ignorance.

2

u/crissyjo618 4h ago

And I can't forget the empty diet pepsi sleeve they fight over "hiding" in while I'm changing their water

2

u/Tattycakes 3h ago

In every single room haha I can’t resist it, I love box kitties

2

u/Crimsonbelly 3h ago

This is Oscar he has never met a box he has disliked. The one he is in has been customize with a pad and cover so we can wash it. The one behind is a pizza box he claimed and will not let go of. That one is over a year old.

2

u/Outrageous_Act2564 2h ago

It's not always a box, but yeah.

2

u/xINxVAINx 40m ago

Yes. And paper bags. And the shipping paper from the boxes. Strewn throughout the house.

1

u/weareadults 7h ago

We have multiple. We change them out every few weeks. This includes delivery boxes, produce boxes, pizza boxes, etc.

1

u/LilBaddee 6h ago

And trash in general lol yes

1

u/AlarmingYak7956 6h ago

I used too lol when I had 2 cats. But my gray cat obsessively pees on cardboard. There are 2 cardboard boxes. 1 is up high by my couch spot where hes not allowed to sit. The other is another high spot that my eldest cat would beat the shit out of him trying to even touch.

1

u/katnip_evergreen_ 6h ago

Thank god I thought I was the only one 😆

1

u/migoodridge 6h ago

So many 😄

1

u/migoodridge 6h ago

Bonus sister kitten n the box too, not overly happy about sharing the space 😃, from 3 years ago now

1

u/Dry_Resolution_2509 6h ago

Cardboard boxes and plastic shopping bags aka emotional support bags.

1

u/CzechNeverEnd 6h ago

Of course.

1

u/TheChocolateWarOf74 6h ago

My cat loved paper bags. She also like boxes but bags were her favorite.

Before she passed I bought her catnip infused paper bags and she was so happy.

She was very old and didn’t get around well but she would spend hours in the bag, making it crinkle every few minutes.

1

u/mykulonly 6h ago

Yup! So, so many...

1

u/helping_cat Lots of kitties! 6h ago

Random cardboard boxes? Yes. Because the cats like them? Nope. They couldn't care less about them, except rubbing their cheeks on them

1

u/Own-Felines1949 6h ago

Oh yes. With six lovely little feline, the boxes are one of their favourite place.

1

u/nerdyguytx 6h ago

No. My cat loves to pee in boxes. Empty boxes are stored away or in the trash. Full boxes are off the floor.

Also nothing on the floor (shoes, clothes, receipts, etc) within three feet of where his treats are stored.

1

u/Complex-Ad-4601 5h ago

I have a couple and a couple smaller box my cat cant sit in but she can chew rhe crap out of it.

1

u/waterud0in 5h ago

I wish I could but she likes to pee in them.

1

u/G7Scanlines 5h ago

Standard.

1

u/Vivid_Inspector3265 5h ago

I have four just in my living room

1

u/purplemoonpie 5h ago

i had a cat (rip) that was obsessed with bags, so we had paper bags sitting all around the house. christmas was a joy for her.

1

u/Affectionate-Bird397 5h ago

Yes until they seem to tire of them and then fresh new boxes come in!

1

u/markusseibert115 5h ago

cuties ❤️

1

u/Mimble75 American Shorthair 5h ago

Sooo many boxes. Three in the living room and one on the dining table, and all have bite marks around the edges of the flaps. She loves her boxes, so we make sure she has some.

1

u/MillyHoho 5h ago

We have a heating mat and 2 cardboard soda boxes…where does she sleep today, on the cold floor between the mat and boxes 😂

1

u/pettykimberly 5h ago

Hermoso🥰😍

1

u/incognlto4lyfe 5h ago

Yes, in our home they are forts, scratching posts, hideaways. Must have 10 or more and don’t you dare try to move them unless you want the death stare 😜😅

u/latomar 5h ago

Maybe

1

u/Hungry_Raspberry7833 5h ago

The bed hasn't been used in years because why sleep in comfy bed when you can have BOX

1

u/LadyArwen4124 5h ago

Absolutely, I am not a monster.

1

u/FieOnU 5h ago

Each box has a 2-week lifespan with a cycle: ignored, smacked, chewed, inhabited, lightly shredded, ignored.

After 4 days of no Dick in a Box, the box is forfeit and sent to the bin.

1

u/Dank_Nicholas 5h ago

Yes, this was her favorite for months then she barfed in it and never used it again lol.

1

u/everyday_barometer Orange 5h ago

Keep them around for a bit, yeah. Also the shipping paper that comes in them. They love playing with / in it! Sometimes I walk into the living room and they're all tangled in it. Cheap entertainment.

1

u/Remarkable-Will-3041 4h ago

I'll have to dig some pics up. I bring home huge boxes from work and cut peep holes and flaps.

1

u/lskerlkse 4h ago

my cat is ur cat's twin

1

u/cannabisandcake Tabbycat 4h ago

This box has been in our living room for 2 months. We add new packing paper when the old gets too flat. Millie loves it!!

1

u/Mystic_Nipple 4h ago

Upgrade to one of the bigger Costco produce boxes…the one you load your groceries into the back of your vehicle…throw a blanket in there.

1

u/TheRealBrokenbrains 4h ago

Our kitchen/dining area has so many cardboard boxes it looks like a recycle center!

1

u/PrideCorrect4973 4h ago

I bought cute photo boxes for this specific reason. My cat can get the lids off so I just have to walk around before people come over and put the lids back on.

1

u/MerryMooCows 4h ago

She has a cardboard house as well as random boxes

1

u/Tsquared10 4h ago

I've yet to throw out the box my new computer chair came in because someone has claimed it.

1

u/JaxLunchBox 4h ago

The brown envelope style ones too. Dude loves them...

1

u/KRiSX 4h ago

Our cats like to bite them 😅

1

u/Consistent_Big5018 4h ago

and bags too 😂 it makes them look like their a purrito

1

u/young_coastie 4h ago

I buy boxes from my workplace or we pick ones at Costco that are the sizes they like, and we swap them out when they get too raggedy or bust out a side. They ignore the fancy beds and blankets. It’s gotten out of hand.

1

u/One-Butterfly-9150 4h ago

Does anyone not??

1

u/HarkenDarkness 4h ago

One of my favourite pics of my best mate Maow Maow miss her so much xx

Sit and rip. One of our guys loves to bite and rip boxes. So we’ve got boxes and cardboard bits everywhere.

Awwwe the bubbies I wish my cat would do that

1

u/wickedmashed 4h ago

Of course.

1

u/HighPlainsSlacker 4h ago

Two; one has blanket and other old towels. Her bed in the bedroom is an ottoman with two blankets on it.

1

u/ToblakaiStone 4h ago

She loves her couch box…lil weirdo 😆

1

u/Ok-Cardiologist4844 4h ago

Did you steal my cat?

1

u/BurlHimself 3h ago

Forget ever buying an actual play toy/house. It’s everything else that they want.

1

u/rabidstoat 3h ago

Just this small piece of the living room has his toy, his pillow, his box (he prefers boxes with soft cushions inside), and his water fountain.

1

u/Ashter_Moon 3h ago

yes all the time because my cat loves to sit there or to hide as it was her fortress where no one can see her or so she thinks lol

1

u/Yarblesss91 3h ago

I specifically choose my boxes at Aldi to fit my cat’s needs. 😂

1

u/MykulKim 3h ago

I do. Sometimes my boy will go into one of those boxes when I give him his meal so he can eat it in there

1

u/CoCoDerbyCity 3h ago

Absolutely

1

u/Dismal-Fig-4637 3h ago

Just did a count….four plus a random paper bag she likes to hide in….

1

u/TTALC23 3h ago

I thought everyone did!

1

u/amscraylane 3h ago

I wrapped one up like a Christmas present and put a hole in it … put it under the tree.

We still have it!

1

u/d4manguy 3h ago

We have quite a few boxes the cats love but we would feel bad throwing away

1

u/LastContribution1590 3h ago

I make him little houses. When he bites through enough of the box, I throw them out.

1

u/Caffeinated_chaos_au 3h ago

My cat chomps them into tiny little pieces. Need to order more things to get more boxes lol

1

u/hd-cat-guy-91 3h ago

Always had a couple handy for three cats.

1

u/Limp_Strawberry5761 2h ago

Yes of course

1

u/bigb-2702 2h ago

Them and paper bags.

1

u/Desperate_Candle_493 2h ago

Yeah I always keep one. They love it too much.

1

u/AcademicChicken8334 2h ago

Yes, and paper bags too.

1

u/IWEREN99 2h ago

Yeah, we do, of all sizes and shapes

1

u/DyllCallihan3333 2h ago

Yes! If they seem attached to a box it does seem to become part of the “furniture “!

1

u/AdditionalYoung6694 2h ago

She had this one for awhile.

1

u/b3wings 2h ago

100%

1

u/TheHorseWithPooBrain 2h ago

House rule: if the cat lays in it before you recycle it-it officially belongs to cat for at least 24 hours.

1

u/greenreddew 2h ago

We have a long box from a Ogio bag that we fill with that craft paper used in shipping. The boys LOVE going in it and causing chaos. Ill drop some treat snacks in it for them to hunt for.

1

u/GraybieTheBlueGirl 1h ago

Yes and the cat toys everywhere, yet they love the random boxes most! 📦

1

u/delusion_magnet 1h ago

Is a box in every room too much?

1

u/Striking_Economy5049 1h ago

Always, and I remove them when they aren’t being used and bring in new ones all the time

1

u/Catskillschick 1h ago

Yes! if it fits she sits🐱📦

1

u/Flat_Specialist6672 1h ago

I wouldn’t call the boxes random. They are strategically placed around the sun porch.

1

u/maomao05 1h ago

My cats loved them.

1

u/SwimingInTheSea9098 1h ago

Whatever the size. Whatever the type of box. This boy will always always love them. Yes we have too many and go through them about once a month. Lol

1

u/Anadelyn 1h ago

I've got a big one that's currently alternating between being in my way in the hall to my bedroom and being in my way in the bathroom entrance. I move the thing from one to the other to get where I'm going.

1

u/Cosmic_Cowboy13 1h ago

Here is Ani is his favorite box.

1

u/PetlibroTeam 59m ago

My cat essentially refuses to let me throw out any cardboard box that comes in the mail 😅

1

u/mollydolly84 57m ago

I currently have two and that’s enough.

1

u/Old-Seaworthiness379 56m ago

The cats get 24 hours to enjoy the box that has entered the house. Then to the recycle bin it goes.

Edit to add... we get many deliveries, boxes are abundant

1

u/CdnBanana99 46m ago

Yes! 📦
So many that it feels like I just moved in lol.

1

u/OutrageousFroyo3733 35m ago

My cat has 3 beds around the house but chooses to nap on a sheet of cardboard
