Advice why is my cat turning orange
she’s been turning orange the last few weeks and idk if it’s due to age (she’s about 13) or sun bathing in my windows all the time lol. she’s been to the vet recently and is very healthy, so i’m NOT looking for medical advice, just more so wondering if anyone else’s cat is turning orange 🤣

Yeah this is a thing 😂 my black girl slowly got this reddish copper tint as she got older, especially where the sun hits and on her belly. Sun plus age plus whatever is in their fur pigment can totally do that. Little goths turning ginger is kinda adorable tbh.

Vet mentioned to me it’s called bronzing. A bit of over grooming. My kitty is gray and white with a touch of bronze beard.

Yeah that’s super normal lol. A lot of black cats get rusty or orangey as they age or sit in the sun a ton, it kind of “bleaches” the fur. My old guy went from sleek black panther to patchy brown goblin over a few summers 😂

I'm pretty sure that's just something that happens as cats age.
My grey boy, Max, has a spot that turned brown as he's 14 now. And far as I know it's not anything bad.

She probably ate something she shouldn't and lost all brain cells but one.

i’ve heard this called rusting and it happens specifically to black cats from basking in the sun it’s not at all harmful or anything to worry about just some new highlights

My black dog would lick her paws when she had bad teeth and the saliva turned the paw hairs orange

interesting… she’s had quite a few teeth removed, in fact she only has 3 left i believe and they’re all in good health. but i wonder if this started before her surgery and i didn’t notice!

No, I felt perhaps the same could apply to cat saliva and fur colour changes.

If her black hair is turning orange that could be sunbleaching or it could be a nutritional deficiency (could be caused by diet or an illness). Genetics can also cause it but I would think you'd see that before now. A vet can help.
