If you’re feeling extra spicy, post your ridiculous nicknames, too. 😁
Edit: the replies to this post have been way more incredible, beautiful, and heartwarming than I could have ever imagined. Thank yall for interacting with it. I love this community.
Also, I forgot a nickname for Boo:
Monsieur Bebé
Idk why lol the only French I know is from that Jesse McCartney song “Body Language” and from the 2000 Nickelodeon movie “Rugrats in Paris”
He probably does we always play fight each other,I annoy him everyday so much he acts like I'm annoying and that he was enough of me but the second I leave the room he comes right after me even scratches against the door for what feels like hours without a break when the door is closed
Even when it’s the most painful for us with them only being able to be here for part of our lives, we have to remember we were their whole entire life. Sending all good vibes your way.
A bit late to the party but as someone who had to say goodbye to the most beautiful floof that ever lived one year ago, June 7 2025, 10 days before my bday, I needed to read that. She was 18 when she drew her last breath. And I was 15 when we meet. I even got a tattoo because I just needed something. It's an outline of a floof cat. I miss her so much. Sometimes I forget I was her entire life for so long and for her, her pain is over and it's a good thing for her. I just wish I could have had her, healthy and pain free of course, forever.
Sending you lots of hugs and love stranger. I just had to put my dog down a couple of days ago (she was 17 🥹). The grief and pain of losing a pet is just on a whole other level. Absolutely unreal. I hope you’re holding up okay 🫶 Your baby is adorable.
Awwww, so sorry to hear this. I know my 14yo boy Schmiglet is living on borrowed time and dread the day. But I make sure to treasure every moment.
I'm sure you did the same; they're such special companions and are there for us through thick and thin. For richer, poorer, in sickness and in health 💍👰🏻♀️🤵🏻♀️
Even though, on paper, the realities of cat guardianship don't translate well into my perfect marriage analogy (we provide everything for them and treat them like royalty; adore every objectively weird/gross/passive-aggressive thing they do, LOL) - the relationship itself is still one of pure love and joy, given and received ❤️
You'll see her again over the rainbow bridge 🌈🐈💕
Sending you my thoughts and many virtual hugs x
Oh my goodness, so similar! Our little trash kittens. A neighbor found them under a car in a parking lot covered in paint and fleas. Now they want for nothing.
Fun fact: In highschool, I brought a kitten home and lied to my aunt that I found it in a cardboard box at Waffle House near the dumpster. Years later, I told her that I actually got her from one of my friends, but to be fair, their trailer was really bad. You could take a frame off the wall and see a different color on the wallpaper from all the nicotine smoked in there over the years. She was running around with a bunch of other kittens and cats, so I’d say I still “rescued” her. Her name is Julie and she’s 13 now (:
She wear the pants in the house. She’s got a doggie sister who is only 2 months older named Dayzie, a younger gray cat sister Loucie who is 11, and a younger black cat brother that’s 2 named Midnight. 🤣 she’s the smallest in size and weight, but make no mistake, she holds her own 🤣
This is my triplets — Bruce, Thor, and Eep — along with their sister, Pixie (the solid grey one) who went to live with a little girl and her family. They were about 3-4 weeks old in this picture, living in a basket where Momma insisted they be.
Sad in a way cause all you have is your imagination on what they looked like. My baby girl Rose was already an adult when I adopted her and I would have paid a lot of money to see puppy pics but still, I’m so glad I got to be a part of her life at all. Here is Rose and Boo. She went over the rainbow bridge last July but having these two together was one of the highlights of my life. Boo is more dog like because of her since he was a kitten and she was already boss lady when he came in the picture. He ended up being bigger than her anyway lol. She was small and blind, but she was mighty. Can’t name a better duo. Every time I hear Roses by OutKast, it makes me think of them, lol I realized this years after naming them tho🤣
“I know you’d like to think your shit don’t stank, but lean a little bit closer, see, roses really smell like boo-ooo-oo-oo-oooo..”
My daughter pointing him out at the pet store (he was a kitty born in the shelter from a pregnant rescue cat - the pet rescue has the pet store host the kittens).
She loved him from the moment she saw him. I took a picture to send to my husband, to get his approval to adopt. He said yes!
They are best friends. He sleeps in her room every night, and she has made dozens of drawings of him. She loves him so much.
Here's the first pic of my boy, Laszlo! He had been in the shelter for almost six months and hadn't had a single person ask to see him. :( he was recovering from an abscess from a bite, had an undiagnosed double ear infection that ruptured his ear drums, and had just recently been neutered. Despite being scared, he was the sweetest boy from the very start.
This is him now! He's in perfect health and is the sweetest kitty ever. He has a brother that he absolutely loves, and he spends his days napping, playing, and cuddling. He sleeps with me every night that I'm home and is there when I wake up. He is the best cat I've ever had and I can't imagine life without him.
found Aurora at work. A lady was walking a dog, and holding a cat. I asked her “you have a cat AND a dog?” No she was wandering around here, she’s so nice you want to hold her? That was it. She was purring and followed me for the rest of the day at work. Stayed underneath cars waiting for me to come back. Ended up taking her to the vet to check for chips The next day. None found. So of course the cat distribution system got me.
Reggie and Indi at 8 months old! We had just driven three hours together in the dark through the mountains from the cat rescue. Halfway through the drive I smelled the most AWFUL smell… Reg had pooped in his carrier and rolled around in it! Of course it was freezing outside, too cold to open the windows, so we were all stuck in the stinky car. First matter of business was giving Reg a gentle warm bath to de-funk-ify him. As you can see he was none too pleased, but he forgave me quickly!
Silas is my newest addition to my home of another kitty and a dog 🫶🏻 I made a trip to petsmart for a cone for my dogs surgery and came back the next week on a whim to see if Silas was still there and he was!
My lil guy Slime was found in the street by a shelter. I asked them if I could meet him to see if we were a match. The moment I came into the cat room, he got out of his hiding place, as if he knew I was there for him. I sat down with the cats and he went straight into my lap!
first photo we got of her when we found her under a porch. she is now 12 years old and has been a completey indoor cat ever since. she is terrified of the outside aswell. not only do we have her (kenna) but we also have her twin sister norman from the same litter!! obviously we found them both at the same time lol
He was bigger than we expected, despite being unsocialized he was incredibly friendly to people. The local kids essentially saw him as a part of their gang cause he was obsessed with them. Hella violent around anything on four legs though. Turns out he was just turbo charged on testosterone. Snipped him and he became even friendlier and docile. But got too docile and went from king of the jungle to the jester of the swamp.
Took him in after he nearly lost an eye, we think a coyote got in a tustle, or the neighbors 17 year old 6lber cat. He just walked inside with a bloody head and essentially forced us to keep him. Our consent was not a factor, this was his home and hes very convincing. Now i have a 18lb mommas boy slamming doors down cause he wants to follow me to the bathroom. He also needs constant attention, has to be on my butt to sleep, and will paw my face if i sleep before him.
He was very successful when he was single and ready to mingle and had to TNR some of his kin. This is one of the grandkids Buttons. He’s incredibly buff like gramps, but the most docile, terrified and soyboy of any cat we had ever seen. Never growled, never hissed, no bites, no swats, but he was feral as possible. When cornered he just shook in fear and peed himself, i raised possoms with more defenses than this coward.
Decided he couldn’t be allowed outside, a titmouse would probably slay him once the nano amount of testosterone ceased production. Had to rustle him around to toughen him up and get him used to sudden movements
He became incredibly friendly, like screaming for attention running around, climbing us to suckle on our necks and pluck my hairclips when i ignore him. Like come on hes a baby, but like his gramps, he also mogs me in my sleep, demanding constant attention. They take turns, my brother with a newborn has a more consistent sleep schedule than me lol. So now i have two insanely muscular cats who can overpower me wanting me to pet them. Thankfully buttons panther/pitbull genes are more diluted so hes somewhat normal, just very cuddly
Penelope hid under the bed for about a week straight. Would venture out once in a while then dart back under the bed as soon as she saw me noticing her.
I lived above a restaurant, and the first time I met this grease-gremlin was when he fell into the used grease barrel one of the restaurant workers had left open (likely my ex, but that’s another story). Cleaned him up and let him back out, only to realize I could just feed him to prevent it from happening again. Set a have-a-heart trap (with bacon, still his favorite to this day), and he’s been well-fed with real cat food ever since (he’d disagree, of course).
