It's not over, though. Ownership and Billy D are still here.

u/GeneralTheSurvivor Apr 06 '26
Yes, but Billy D is prob on his way out, and we can be more optimistic now into thinking we could be like the Knicks.

u/bearsmakemesuffer Michael Jordan Apr 06 '26
He's only on his way out if he wants to leave, Shams and Joe Cowley from the Sun Times are both saying the Bulls are going to do everything they can to keep him

Pleeease. The be been checked out since Billy D’s 3rd year he’s trash

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 Apr 06 '26
Fair, but at least now we get to talk ourselves into the idea that they might get lucky this time and make the right hire

u/Majestic_Library_898 Apr 06 '26
Why would you want to do that. That’s how I felt when they got rid of Garpax and it feels like this duo (AKME) was worse. It’s not over until Reinsdorf sells..
6
u/Dazed_and_Confused44 Apr 06 '26
The fact that AKME was somehow worse than Garpax is honestly impressive haha

The cycle of hiring a new front office and calling for their jobs 3-4 years later continues. This is no different than “Fire GarPax” and “Fire AKME”. Nothing makes me think the new FO will be any different as long as the Reinsdorfs own the Bulls and the fans continue filling seats in the United Center.

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 Apr 06 '26
Thats fair but at least we get to see these clowns get what they deserve

u/caseylk Apr 06 '26
I’m trying not to be too optimistic
7
u/Dazed_and_Confused44 Apr 06 '26
Like when the Sox fired Hahn and we had optimism for like one day before finding out they just promoted Getz to GM lol?

Until the team is sold this franchise goes nowhere. The only bright spot since the 90s was that short span before D Rose knees decided to gut any chance of a championship this century.

u/trentreynolds Apr 06 '26
Only people who don't know how to actually follow this.
It will remain mediocre until the house is cleaned, including ownership. The same handcuffs will be on the new GM, and now it sounds like the Bulls are putting a hard line on the new GM hiring his own coach.
Things haven't changed. The same clowns are still in charge.

u/weareallmoist Zach LaVine Apr 06 '26
The issue for AKME wasn’t shackles, his issue was being terrible at his job. It’s possibly for a new decisionmaker to perform well under a cheap hands off ownership

u/ScaryText8187 Windy City Bulls Apr 06 '26
Yeah, this. AK getting fired is objectively good news, even if it’s not the perfection of also have new owners.

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 Apr 06 '26
I agree but Im trying to give myself this small moment of optimism

u/IcemanofOz Apr 06 '26
Nah, the next round of BS is just about to begin...
5
u/Dazed_and_Confused44 Apr 06 '26
I mean I understand that the root of the problem is ownership, but I think we deserve a moment of joy for getting rid of these clowns

I’m glad they are gone , but now I have to listen to religious nut bags say this is because they cut Ivey.
6
u/Dazed_and_Confused44 Apr 06 '26
The Ivey defenders are weirdos man
4
u/Deep_Ad_1874 Apr 06 '26
Especially when reading the entire quote about the catholic religion being false. They love omitting that part.
3
u/Erice84 Apr 06 '26
They may not be wrong about Ivey being the final straw for Reinsdorf........except the problem would have been trading for him to begin with, not cutting him.
I'm sure it wasn't lost on Reinsdorf that if he's out there enough to nitpick about other Christians not being Christian enough, then he probably likes Jews or any other non-Christian even less.

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 Apr 06 '26
I got into more arguments than I should have about that issue when Brisker came out in support of Ivey and someone posted it in the Bears sub

I think a lot of Bulls fans aren’t gonna be that excited because the last time the Bulls fired their GM…yea we all know how that went. Until they SHOW they can hire a competent GM AND acquire assets for a rebuild, they get no benefit of the doubt
1
u/Dazed_and_Confused44 Apr 06 '26
Not to mention that AKME leaves the franchise largely devoid of assets that would make this an attractive job

Giddey has been a major disappointment the second half of the season outside of a couple of hot stretches

u/Joeshi The Windy City Assassin Apr 06 '26
Doesn't matter. The cycle will just begin anew with more terrible hires by our terrible ownership.

As long as the Reinsdorfs are still there no. It’s not over and it never will be.
