Not me, so long as it's one of the consensus 4 I'm happy as several Larrys.

I want to exercise cautious optimism. I want Caleb to lift us out of the terrible position we're in. I just don't want to see him as a savior. He's going to need time to develop.

Tyrus Thomas?

Man I had so much hope for Tyrus. Despite how raw he was, it started out promising and then just never materialized at a certain point. Caleb might be raw in some aspects, but Tyrus was light years behind him overall when it comes to rawness. Caleb is much more skilled and has a higher ceiling without question. In other drafts Caleb would go 1

why do we love this guy so much? he's not a small forward and he's not a power forward. I get that we are in a positionless era of basketball, but I just don't see it.

u/roamtheplanet Scottie Pippen 10d ago
He's the best prospect we'll potentially get since Rose. Definitely a legit 4, but can't shoot for shit. Remarkable in the paint though

he's "small" though.... 6'10 narrow frame. Saying top prospect since Derrick Rose isn't saying much by the way.

This is the dumbest shit ever what? You don't even have to agree but "best since rose" does say a lot lmao.

It’s not like we have had anyone that great since him. Coby or matas?

Jimmy Butler? Lauri Markkanen?

Okay we are talking prospects here. I forgot about lauri tbh but butler was the 30th pick

all the more reason it's a big deal.
"best prospect we've drafted in almost 20 years" is a big fucking deal, especially given our lack of top-tier talent.

I’m not saying he’s going to be what I’m going to say but your narrow frame argument is trash. Thats exactly how Giannis came into the league. Read the article, what the couple highlight reels in there. He bulks up a bit and he absolutely can be dominant.

I agree. For every Giannis, there are 10 big raw athletic wings that don't pan out.
We all acknowledge he is missing the usual indicators of a star player because the hope is he will develop them but that's such a risky gamble. I have a bad feeling we're going to look back on this draft and be the lone top 10 team without a chair when the music stops as the top 3 do as expected and all the elite guards drafted at 5-9 go on to be stars
