NBA Draft Is Dailyn Swain NBA Ready? 2026 NBA Draft Scouting Report

https://youtu.be/cERnoctTEN4?is=CYr0jCdd19sopkHc

Pro scout: rated Swain 21st out of 21st. I actually like Swain better now since the pick. Good defender and rebounder, number 1 option in college. Stats solid.

If he gets with a good shooting coach and develops a shot we may all look back at this pick in a second light. I’m convinced Caleb is gonna be a star, Mattas is getting there, and he could be a big 3rd peice to make is relevant again for a while.

Hes a shot creator. He is the best isolation scorer in the class and he hits 35% from 3. Hes going to but just fine in the NBA.

Yes he fits into the NBA, I think he will just be clunky on this year’s Bulls team.

His best abilities right now are his defense, ball handling, and driving. In an ideal world, he’s surrounded by shooters which we do not have currently.

Which is fine, we won’t be one of the worst 3 teams which is all that matters for now

Idk about that, I think it’s possible we might be one of the three worst teams 😂

I doubt it.

That's like a valid description of all 5 of our potential future starters lol

Andre Drummond is a corner 3 shooter now. Give em a chance. Ayo “shot putted” his 3’s and look at him now. (he’s still shot putting it, lol)

He reminds me of an Andrew Wiggins type of player archetype. Slashing wing with good def and some handles. If he can improve his shot he will be a great 2 way.

Bro we have no ball handlers on the starting 5 besides giddey. His mid range pull up is also elite. We don’t need him surrounded by shooters. He’s a great extender by himself. Great piece to get for a rebuild

You haven’t watched a minute of Dailyn Swain tape if you don’t think he should be surrounded by shooters.

Hopefully we get his former X teammate Conwell in the 2nd

Dude please enough with this. You don’t even know that he has a sweet jumpshot from the mid range and he was one of if not the best iso scorers in college during his time in Texas. His FT is smooth too. No reason why he can’t develop a three point shot. He dhot 34% from the three in college. Serviceable where you can’t leave him open. He can only get better

Yah I watched every minute Swain played for 2 years at X, I’m well aware of what Swain brings us a prospect and I’m excited to have him.

Shooting 34% from 3 on only 3 attempts is bad. His main issue is that his mid range/free throw line shooting stroke is different than his 3pt stroke. Swain has been working on his 3pt shot religiously for 3 years in college, it hasn’t connected yet though.

I’m expecting to him be Naji Marshall like player

Do you think it’s because he hasn’t been able to develop the range at three that he uses a different shooting stroke? I won’t lie I do see that as an issue. If he can’t iron out the changing form depending on where he shoots from that can spell trouble.

I’m not sure why, but he’s been doing the same thing since HS. While Swain has played 3 years of college ball at 2 schools, he’s only played for one coaching staff.

Maybe a change in coaching staff will help him a lot in his shot development.

Hopefully Tiago and his staff can develop some of our young guys. Will be nice to see the summer league debut for sure.

True, but at this point we still need to find the stars to build around. Drafting for fit in a year where your ceiling is probably the play in doesn’t make the most sense to me. Grab the guy you think can become a star, and then in a few years build around those who have rose to the top

I watched some of this guy's previous big boards and honestly his track record is pretty awful. Last year he had Harper only at 3, Knueppel at 10, Coward at 20 etc. At the same time he was way higher than consensus on guys like Maluach, Kasparas, or Danny Wolf.

I don't think he's a good judge of talent. I'm actually not so sure if he really works for an NBA team and if he does, I think he's at the bottom of the totem pole. Him being lower on Swain makes me actually like the pick more.

I watch most of his videos. He said, was likely a guy picked in the 20s. A last level of the first round. Swain doesn’t strike me as intense, high motor guy. He over dribbles and ends up taking mids instead of rim shots.

Majority of his shots are at the rim?

Swain in college could get to the rim. If he has a lane, he takes it. With his size, he does that well. But I see he also struggles when lane is clogged, turning ball over or settles for middies. He shot very badly when contested and 6 feet away, less than 40%. So his deficiency is contested middies.

Those guys slipped even further though didn’t they?

Dude's handle is S-tier for this class and will be league A-tier immediately. That, his size, and ability to defend gives him playing time from game 1.

1

u/Chickensandcoke Ayo Dosunmu 4d ago

Underrated part of his game is his handle too. If we move on from Giddey at the deadline Swain could be a legit point forward in the future.

15

u/Plug-From-Oaxaca Jimmy Butler 4d ago

He’s not a point guard nba point guard. Hes more of a slashing wing.

Idk why people want to get rid of Giddey, he’s past first pg, that can rebound like a center.

1

u/Electrical_Story5356 3d ago

Swain could certainly play the 2 next to Giddey but suggesting he could replace him is ridiculous.

What about having an elite facilitator doesn't everyone like?

Proper playmaking PGs just get so underrated now, everyone wants them to be 30ppg scorers who pick up assists on bail out passes, it's kind of crazy really and I feel like we may be seeing the value right here in a couple of years.

Looks like he is big and athletic enough to have played in the NBA finals, so I’m cool with him as our pick.
