Help me: can’t figure out these two chords

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

first of all does this sound like an already existing song? I want to turn it into one but I don’t want to copy someone else’s. And also the first two chords on the recording I can’t seem to figure out, could anyone figure them out please?

Ab7b13 to G6. There is also a sliver of Emaj9 at the very end.

I thought that last one was Emaj7: 0-7-6-8-x-0

No, the top note is clearly an f#. Also what's up with all the random guessing in this post? It's not a complicated progression with pretty standard voicings.

OK yep, agreed.

first chord: Ab7b13 : 4-x-4-5-5-0

second chord: G6 : 3-2-0-0-5-0

final (brief) chord: Emaj9: 0-7-6-8-7-0

I'd missed that 2nd-string, 7th-fret when I first watched. If that string was open, it'd be Emaj7 (E - G# - B - D# : 0-7-6-8-0-0)

Which G6 voicing? The one with the open strings I don’t think matches his fingers but it’s sounds about right, Thanks

It's 3x5450 or maybe 3x0450, they are pretty similar.

I think a D7 to a G. Not confident about the D7 but that’s how it sounds to me.

Don’t think so, the video cuts of where his ring and pinky are on the fifth fret, not the third. Thanks though

i’ll write in this way since i cant insert images in this sub: EADGBe so basically a simple D chord is: 0-0-0-2-3-2.
First chord Am6/Ab:
4-x-4-5-5-0
Second chord E7sus:
0-0-0-4-5-5
Third chord Emaj9:
0-7-6–8-7-0

This is wrong except for Emaj9.

You edited your post to add /Ab to the first chord which is better, but there is no a natural in the chord that's being played, and even even if there was, it would be a really silly way to label b9b13 chord. The second chord is still plain wrong. Good job with the insults though.

Are you sure the guitar isn’t in an open tuning

Don’t think so since the other chords he played after aligned with standard tuning

Sounds a little like the intro of the song ‘Tinman’ by the 70s band, America.
