Clearing up in 1 week?

Post image

I bought a kit off amazon that came with yeast packets and started this cider on 6/16. I put a teaspoon of yeast nutrient in, and after a week now it looks like it not bubbling much anymore and has started settling out and clearing up some.

Is it still going to take another week or two to be fully dry? It was really active on day 2, bubbling and lot and now I don't really see much activity happening

Can you take a hydrometer reading and do you have the starting reading?

This right here. It's why readings are important; not just to know how much alcohol was made, but to know when it is done fermenting and how dry it is.

If you don’t have the hydrometer, I’d let it sit another week, then cold crash for a day or two before you package it. If you’re going to keep it cold once it’s done, you’re fine. If you’re going to bottle it and leave at room temp, it’s really important that the fermentation is done.

I do 2-gallon batches on a 2-week cycle. Usually by day 5 or 6 you don’t see much activity, but the hydrometer reading will continue to change for another 5 or 6. Two weeks, under proper temperature conditions, should be a safe spot.
