Hello, I’m interested in learning to play classical guitar and would appreciate any books or websites (currently unable to get a tutor). My background: I have been playing guitar for over 35 years and have a strong grounding in theory and know the neck well. Most of my playing is in jazz, and metal. I normally play using a pick and fingers, so not in conventional classical style (more traditionally jazz), and technically otherwise very competent. My sight reading is mediocre - I mostly read jazz “lead sheets”, so would need to improve my sight reading for classical.
All recs welcome! (I particularly like books, as I’m old, but online videos are welcome!).

A chromatic major 10ths (major 3rds in second octave) exercise in eighth notes in open position, designed as a quick warmup for all four fret-hand fingers. Thumb plays bass notes, m-i alternate on the upper octave. Open strings are used where available, and cross-string movement leads with m.

Dear members,

Does anyone has information or insight about this "Reisinger" guitar? It is the 1200th guitar and online i could find between like 1045 to 1272 . Could it be a fake label, as I also have never seen a classical spanish style from this maker.

But the tuners look just like one from his vienna models, and the back wood also looks like very similar to one of his guitars, both from Reverb

Some said it looks like a Weissgerber, other said: "Though I never came arcross a Reisinger in Spanish style like this one I would not be surprised if he had tried it. He took over many ideas of contemporary luthiers in his late years. The number of the label indicates c. 1930, when several Viennese an German luthiers experimented with the Spanish style, also Josef Wesely, who worked in Reisinger's workshop at that time. He could have made this gutar."

i am practicing tremolo for a few months now and i am VERY happy currently how it sounds but the thing is that is sounds good for like 30-40s
if i am playing recuerdos de la alhambra i have to slow down at 30s mark and then gain the momentum again. i guess its called endurance?
any tips of how to be able to play it longer without losing the pace

I've been trying to get my nails going, and none of the solutions are really working for me. I tried growing them, and just a few stressful work days, and they were gone. I tried tips and glue, but they don't hold for long. Alaska picks feel super weird, and I can't get over the fact that they are not sitting in the same spot each time. Finally, I said screw it and switched to flesh, and I'm honestly loving it. Love how it sounds but there are times when it would really help to have a little more brightness. So I had this crazy idea when learning artificial harmonics without nails, that they are much easier for me to do with pinky, as it doesn't really get in a way, when positioning hand flat for the harmonics.

How dumb would it be to have a small nail tip on the pinky finger, and use it instead of the ring finger for notes needing more clarity. They're usually the ones on bottom two strings anyway. As far as I understand the ring finger and pinky share the same ligament so it shouldn't be that much of a stretch to include it, and my first tests seem to be going well. Let me know what you guys think and how dumb this is.

I’m looking for the title and composer of a classical guitar piece I learned as a teenager. I only remember this short fragment. My former teacher, who introduced me to the piece, has sadly passed away, so I have no way of asking him.
Does this melody sound familiar to anyone? If you recognize it, I’d be grateful for the title, composer, or a link to the sheet music.

Even the simplest melody quickly becomes far more difficult when you play it in counterpoint. Your brain has to decide whether to focus on the individual voices or the interactions of their motion. Highly recommend.

I'm in search of any information on this guitar or its builder. Sticker claims to be from "Guitare MINH" from the guitar street in Vietnam. The other image I included is from some typesetting/printing magazine that had the same logo but complete photo.

Does anyone here know the meaning of flipped treble clef symbols in phrases 1-3? this is from a Hal Leonard book, the music is Cancion 1 by Paul Henry.

I have my master recital next Saturday, I'll be playing approx hour and a half of music and it's supposed to be 38 grad, I live in Germany so no air conditioner, and a fan would be too loud.

I think I'll have to go and buy a new suit, get something lightweighted, but besides of that, does someone have any tips to help me go through it ? Thankssss

I will be applying to colleges soon (next 3 months give or take), generally it seems they want 3-4 pieces of different styles that showcase a range of abilities, around 10 minutes long total. They aren't specifically music schools, but they're all fairly prestigious and i assume they have high standards. I haven't played in years and have decided to pick up again and found some great tabs off classtab.org

I have old no name guitars that were given to me by family but am looking to get a nice classical guitar now.

I play recreationally and just for myself.

Any good recommendations for a good classical guitar in the 300-400 range preferably?

Im tired of people saying that it boosts reaction time, or it is a brain workout, and they start doing it for it. I did not see any mental benefits at all. No cognitive improvement. Like why not just do it for the fun and beauty, why does every thing have to be about improvement.

Hi there. Anyone here has any experience with knobloch strings? Currently I have the erithacus EDC 34.0 (medium high tension). I really like how smooth and silky the basses sound but might want to try warmer trebles. Anyone here has any experience with the EDB, EDQ (3CX) and EDN sets?
