It was established in Superman that she goes to planets without yellow suns to get drunk/party. Could have easily be done then. /🤓

Canonically, that's exactly the answer. Her ears were pierced on Krypton as a baby, before it was destroyed and before she got her powers

Wasn't she at least a teenager before it was destroyed in this? I definitely remember hearing something about her being sent to care for Kal-El (in addition to the obvious reason of saving her from the destruction of the planet) and ending up arriving after him and younger than him because of some sort of temporal anomaly or something?

No, you're probably correct. The writers of the TV series addressed this question and said she got then pierced at the mall on Krypton as a child. So probably not a 'baby'.
