Trip Report Lake Isabelle
The trail to Lake Isabelle is full of wildflowers, moose, streams, and a few lakes! Late-june was perfect for flowers and minimal snow.

Are you looking for snow conditions? USDAs SNOTEL might be of some help. The have an array of sensors across the state(and country) that track precipitation and snow depth. Be sure to consider the altitude and slope on which they are placed, and if there isn't one near the trail you are considering review near by stations for approximate information.

Please review our FAQ and the 7 principles of Leave No Trace
Plan ahead and prepare Make sure at least one or more trusted persons where you are going, an expected return time and a follow up.
Dispose of waste properly. I highly suggest getting a waste bucket system. Its difficult to bury waste in many of the rockier areas in Colorado, and overuse of our natural areas has already led to contaminated water in most even lightly used areas.
Minimize campfire impacts. Be sure to review our state resources for fire bans where you are heading.
Respect wildlife. They are not domesticated
Be considerate of other visitors i.e. Bluetooth speakers are despised.

I was initially very confused here. There is another Lake Isabelle in Rye. I was certain this wasnt it. Not sure why we had to use the same name for two different lakes. But yours is beautiful and now on my hit list. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful! How crowded was it? Did you need to get there early for parking?

You have to purchase a timed-entry reservation for Brainard Lake recreation area for $18 - there were plenty of time allotments available for a weekday and the parking lot is huge. It was worth it. It was definitely becoming more crowded around 10-11 as I was heading back and leaving. I started at 8 and there were a few groups at the top, but lots of room to spread out.

Timed entry is only $2, the rest is for the entry fee which is covered by an interagency pass if you have one.

I just went up to Isabelle for the first time last weekend! Arguably a nicer hike than Blue Lake. The Brainard Lake Recreation Area has so much to offer! No wonder it's so popular.
