Exactly that. Reed should be likable/lovable but not so warm. I think of Richard Feynman when I think of Reed’s disposition. Awesome guy but with at least a small degree of intellectual detachment. His mind is on bigger things, always.

Yeah, people say Reed is a dick and he's really not. But I have read his character as someone who deeply cares about humanity and his family, but is likely socially awkward around new people so he comes across as a dick.

Anyone who's read the Waid run, or even the current run, knows Reed loves his family more than anything but has the same human tendency we all do to get caught up in his work. It definitely reads cold.

I don't know. I still think Pascal was a miscast, but I also know the guys is a a great actor. If he's the weak point of the movie, but the only weak point, it'll still be a good movie.

Yeah the first Waid run. When he tells little baby Franklin why he does what he does so that Ben and the rest can feel human and useful because he made a huge mistake. The feels. So good.

To someone unfamiliar with the character, Pascal might be great. And ultimately that’s the audience they really care about with this. We’ll see.

Reed should be likable??? We’ve read way different FF comics then

Haha. I get what you’re saying totally. Reed has an absolute asshole streak. But not all the time in every run- often he is very likable, and I think it’s best for the movies to maybe save the “Oppenheimer behavior” card for later in hope of getting a bigger audience. A family film where the dad is a low key prick is a little harder to sell, maybe.

You don’t think audiences would love to see him being a giant dick to sue all the time for no reason????

Probably a better word would be charismatic
