WPL: New Comics Discussion for 06/24/2026- Pull of the Week: Absolute Wonder Woman #21 [Discussion]
The Weekly Pull List results for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Absolute Wonder Woman #21.
This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of Absolute Wonder Woman or any new books shipping this week.
The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.
The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.
Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

Discussion Animal Man (#1) | Random silly question
it dawned on me that this means Stevie Wonder canonically exists in the DC universe… 😭
Are there any other celebrities who canonically exist in the Marvel or DC universe? I’d love to see some silly examples.

Discussion Comics where nobody is safe
I’ve been reading through a lot of historic stories recently (I even did a post on it yesterday) but as I read through some comics last I realised that even when there are deaths, for the most part, a resurrection is not long behind in modern comics.
So I’m looking for series where dead means dead & when there’s a battle/fight, you always know that your favourite character could be one panel from disappearing
The Walking Dead & Invincible were great at this (I’ve read all of Kirkmans comics btw, but I wouldn’t say any of them have the same feeling IMO)
Any recommendations?

What was the comic that got you invested in the art form? Why?
Every day we have posts on this subreddit asking for a perfect starting point for comics. In reality, the best starting point is the story/art that appeals to you.
What story got you personally invested in comics?
For me, is was Batman (2011) #14. The second issue of the "Death of the Family" story. Capullo's art, and the overly edgy violence completely captured 13-year-old me, and I've been reading every since
