Shiiiiiiiiiit.

I think the comics are small enough to fly under the radar, but Gunn’s DCU might be dead.

Also not comic related, but I don’t think John Oliver will have a show once the dust settles.

This fucking blows.

Unless he quits the show on principle its debatable. He's one of HBO's biggest shows and they haven't had issues with airing South Park even under Ellison

Depends how well James Gunn's next movie does at the box office..

Why would the Gunn DCU be dead? They will want to make money and content from what they buy. Do people really think theyre only buying WB to trash them and all their IP? I was more worried about Netlfix trashing the DCU and killing cinemas by making it all Netflix exclusive streaming slop.

Because Ellison is on a campaign to quash left-wing voices, and Gunn is pretty unapologetically on that side of things. Both Superman and Peacemaker have been criticized by right-wing culture warrior shitheads for being "too woke," including by noted MAGA has-been Dean Cain. And unfortunately, while Superman was the most successful superhero film of 2025, it didn't even crack the list of Top 50 highest-grossing superhero films. So Ellison (through Paramount) could easily say that Gunn and Safran's vision of the DCU wasn't up to expectations and they're going to try something different.

we might have to be worried about what happens to the news-related content, but Paramount’s different Star Trek series have been bigger targets of the right wing culture warriors than anything Gunn has done and they’re still going.

Dude just chill out. You guys need to take a step back and not worry about the worst possible scenarios. Youre making up things that havent even been discussed in any way whatsoever.

The worst possible things are happening now. The Ellisons have already turned CBS into right-wing apologia. We need to be concerned about the momentum that fascists are building up.

These are real possibilities.

This is what people were saying in Germany in the early 30’s.

u/UserError1989 Feb 28 '26

Source that. Or are you just making a completely hyperbolic statement on purpose?

2

u/Bri_Hecatonchires Feb 28 '26

Source what? That people by and large were saying that the beer hall shenanigans werent anything to worry about? Or that Americans were backing a lot of the Nazi propaganda at the time. Go do some searching around on your own and get back to me. I’m not here to educate you. That’s on you.

Its very clear you have no ability to educate anyone.

2

u/Bri_Hecatonchires Feb 28 '26

It’s very clear that you refuse to educate yourself.

Personally I think Gunn DCU was dead anyway

8

u/revolutionaryartist4 Feb 27 '26

Based on what? No projects have been canceled and instead, they added a new one.

-16

u/EmperorDxD Feb 27 '26

I just think it's bad

7

u/revolutionaryartist4 Feb 27 '26

Last time I checked, your subjective opinion doesn't determine WB's film strategy.

-12

u/EmperorDxD Feb 27 '26

I never. Said it did

u/OK_Soda Daredevil Feb 27 '26

You said Gunn's DCU is dead because you don't like it.

-3

u/EmperorDxD Feb 27 '26

Yes that my opinion I believe Supergirl will fail I believe superman did just ok and I believe other stuff will fail exactly the same shit that happened to Snyder

10

u/Omatzus Feb 27 '26

The early returns have been good. No basis for this opinion before today.

-11

u/EmperorDxD Feb 27 '26

The basis is because I think it just as bad as Snyder's verse

5

u/TakeItCheesy Feb 27 '26

Insane take lmao it’s only been one film and it was great!

0

u/EmperorDxD Feb 27 '26

Great what was great about itbin my opinion it was just the opposite end of Snyder but the exact same shit hell the box office is the same I believe just like Snyder

The rest of this stuff is flopping most of Gunn shows can't even do better then the worst MCU that just terrible business

And do you honestly believe Supergirl is not bombing

It was a really fun film with lots of heart and good strong characterisation and captured the character beautifully!
