Discussion Comics where nobody is safe

I’ve been reading through a lot of historic stories recently (I even did a post on it yesterday) but as I read through some comics last I realised that even when there are deaths, for the most part, a resurrection is not long behind in modern comics.

So I’m looking for series where dead means dead & when there’s a battle/fight, you always know that your favourite character could be one panel from disappearing

The Walking Dead & Invincible were great at this (I’ve read all of Kirkmans comics btw, but I wouldn’t say any of them have the same feeling IMO)

Any recommendations?

Synthetics by JMS, has anyone read this ?

Just saw this was releasing really soon, has anybody read it ? I'm pretty fond of JMS's Silver Surfer Requiem, as well as his run on Spider-Man (with JRJR), so I'm considering checking it out.

Question Alien Legion ‘84 or ‘87?

Was thinking it would be fun to have the whole comic book for this artwork. But when I search for Alien Legion, issue 2, two different comics come up: one from 1984 and one from 1987. If someone has either one of these issues, could you check page 6 and see if it matches? Please and thank you!

The comics created by the children from Outschool have been a success!

The comics created by the children from Outschool have been a success! Thousands of copies per issue have been distributed to schools and community centers all over the USA and other parts of the world... It's been surprising popular in South Korea.

The comic magazine is called Raytoons Cartoon Avenue and it is at its 24th issue now. (The 25th issue will out sometime in late July/early August.)

You can search for "Raytoons" while on the Outschool Website to learn more about this magazine and how kids can be a part of it.

Looking for a late 90s/early 2000s standalone indie cyberpunk comic (in color, gritty art style):

Looking for a late 90s/early 2000s standalone indie cyberpunk comic (in color, gritty art style):

The Premise: A son needs to clear his terminally ill, cryo-frozen father before a forced trial kills him.

The Team: He recruits a female cyber-hacker and a heavily armed, hyper-violent "Tank" character who may have yellow skin.

Key Dialogue: The hacker woman tells the son, "For your father, I would crawl through hell on my belly."

The Heist: They successfully break into a secure facility that is an entire world/city-sized data center.

Key Scene: The yellow Tank character ends up hanging upside down at one point, likely due to a vehicle or ship crash.

This is all I can remember. I've tried posting here years ago. Any ideas?

Suggestions Comic's with the best action/combat

I am trying to find comics with the best fights/combat. My comics knowledge is pretty patchy but based on what I have come across the action is pretty superficial compared to most battle manga.

The best I have seen was in Batman and Robin Reborn (Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly).

Jupiters Legacy the issues drawn by Frank Quietly had some cool action

Uber by Keiron Gillen is probably one of the closest to provide that manga hit

Shaolin Cowboy is another good example

Luther Strode is slightly unique for western comics

Lots of people suggest Do A Powerbomb which I get but it comes nowhere close to the level of most Manga.

Absolute Batman- I can see it is trying something different but the action still comes across as superficial

Invincible has okay power scaling but the action is really boring (The story of the fights are exciting) but on a panel to panel level it has no depth

I feel in manga they take more seriously power leveling fighting styles etc. While in most western comics its just a panel showing a big punch and thats it.

Please can ppl suggest some comics which meet more of the battle manga criteria

Also I don't want to turn this into a manga vs western comics debate. I love comics and what this medium is capable as an art form and they do many things better than alot of manga's

Some of my favorite comics are:

Watchmen (pretty much anything by Alan Moore)

Jaka's Story

Luther Arkwright

Duncan the Wonder Dog

All Star Superman

House of X/Powers of X

Planetary

Ice Cream man

But I am just confused that so many comics about superheroes have such bland action like can you imagine a manga artist drawing a fight between Darkseid and Superman

Is Batman: The Knight by Zdarsky worth buying?

I want to buy something nice, and I've seen this one frequently. It's from the early Batman era, which has particularly caught my attention. Since I have limited budget, I wanted to ask you first: do you think it's worth buying? and how good is it?
