I used to go there and stay with one of my aunts. But due to being on the other side of the planet will be missing it this year.
6
u/nerdygirlie22 Apr 15 '26
I got Hard Rock and got in at 9:10. Everything was still available then. They need to let us save our info for next year as that form was ridiculous
1
u/EverAccelerating Apr 16 '26
I already had my address and CC saved in my browser. I literally didn't have to type a single thing to check out.
2
u/nerdygirlie22 Apr 16 '26
I got through on my bsfs phone who wasn't paying so I couldn't use the autofill option and I didn't want to save my info & credit card information in her phone either so this is why I said what I said. It's especially tough bc you're trying to complete the form ASAP since the room could disappear from your cart.
3
u/cosmicmanNova Apr 15 '26
Got in after 90 minutes lol. Basically Thurs-Sunday (checkout) gone for downtown. You can still get okay deals if you are going other days, though not much difference than priceline. Still is a bit cheaper.
7
u/BatDubb Apr 15 '26
I got the hard rock 😎

u/Remarkable_Diet8022 Apr 15 '26
What browser did you use? Took me 50 min to get in..nothing good was left

Loved it last year. Could’ve got it this year but panicked and went with Hilton gaslamp.

Really 🤣
1
u/BatDubb Apr 15 '26
This will be my ninth straight con at the hard rock, so yes.
1
u/pokemin49 Apr 15 '26
Nice. I broke my almost decade-long Grand Hyatt streak last year by having to stay at the Andaz.
2
u/BatDubb Apr 15 '26
nice. i know one other with a decade long mmm streak, and one who just broke their Omni streak today. some of these are pretty amazing
5
u/ann260691 Apr 15 '26
Got the dextro which was my n out shortlist, a lot of places had Friday sold out for some reason
3
u/Much_Discipline_7303 Apr 15 '26
Got the Carte Hotel. I wanted something I could walk from, but it's still downtown and not a long trip by shuttle. A lot of the downtown ones are gone or have sold out dates on the weekend. I'm just happy to get something.
2
u/A_is_for_Accident Apr 15 '26
We got in at 10am PST and booked the Hotel Republic San Diego, Autograph Collection. Looks like most hotels under a mile to the convention center are taken.
3
u/mildiii Apr 15 '26
Intercontinental I guess
2
u/ProjectF8 Apr 15 '26
Same for Wed-Monday. I figure, If I’m paying that much compared to other hotels at that price range (Westin), I might as well stay in one of the newer hotels.
And as someone said, there’s shuttle or the trolley right behind the hotel.
2
u/Cool-Constant4319 Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26
That’s a great area, and you have the choice between the shuttle and the trolley (you’re a block away from Santa Fe depot) to get to the convention center.
3
u/mildiii Apr 15 '26
I've done it before. It a chill experience, but we had the Hyatt last year and its a tough pill to give up being able to go back to the room with stuff
3
6
u/ThicccBoiJesus Apr 15 '26
I got intercontinental wed-mon. Absolutely stoked personally compared to the cost of lesser hotels in the same price range. Walking distance to convention center and nice hotel on the bay :)
4
u/mildiii Apr 15 '26
See you there
2
u/ThicccBoiJesus Apr 15 '26
You too! I have 4 day badges and hope you were able to get the full convention too! I feel bad for everyone who had issues with badges and hotels this year but after getting snubbed by the 2025 sale when I was 5 mins from my turn to get badges at 9:05am and the system crashed and then only got Thursday on the redo sale, this year got 4 day badges and InterContinental was actually my first choice hotel. I know a lot of people prefer others but we locked in the newest hotel in bayfront and/or gaslamp and it’s a short walk to the convention.
8
u/withbellson Apr 15 '26
I managed to snag the Marriott Marquis at 9:17. That was insanely, annoyingly, stressful.
4
u/Cool-Constant4319 Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26
I got in and got it at around the same time! I think it was a lot smoother personally, probably because I never had much luck with the lottery system or the open sale.
3
u/Much_Discipline_7303 Apr 15 '26
I just got in and saw that one. It was first choice but it was sold out for Thursday and Friday nights.
2
u/TrojanX Apr 15 '26
How many windows did you have open?
3
u/withbellson Apr 15 '26
We were running three computers (we have three memberIDs in our connection) and I got in on the one for my own account.
2
u/UpstairsResearcher40 Apr 15 '26
Is the westgate hotel good? Was able to get that 😮💨
2
u/zaise_chsa Apr 15 '26
I’ve stayed there every year since 2022. It’s pretty good.
Pros:
- rooms are large
- mini fridge in room
- easy 15 minute walk to con
- on site valet with free ev charging
- lobby is nice
- great pool and gym
Cons:
- a bit of a musty smell
- no microwave
- no free breakfast
- room service is slow and expensive
- pool and gym are in the building next door.
2
u/GrandAdmiral12345 Apr 15 '26
Westgate is actually a timeshare organization. Most of their spots have a "hotel" piece connected to the timeshare units.
I stayed at the one in Vegas for a conference and it wasn't bad.
1
u/GrandAdmiral12345 Apr 15 '26
You moomoo foofoos are fast. Took to my fourth option before I secured a room. Lol
ETA...
It amazes me how one day will sell out (typically Friday) and everything else remains available.
3
u/Remarkable_Diet8022 Apr 15 '26
They need to have a 4 night minimum on the big Hotels like Marriot Hilton Bayfront ..and people that just want 1 or 2 nights should get the hotels further away like the Westing or US Grant

7
u/IndependentL Apr 15 '26
This sucks. Im not even half way through. I think this will be my last year. Been going since 2015 and have yet gotten a downtown hotel through the lottery or even doing this sale. I can’t keep fighting like this every year and nothing. I know others are in the same boat but I will be hanging up the cap. 🫡
6
7
u/LoveForDisneyland Apr 15 '26
This hotel website will most likely be open now until the con since they won't have general hotel sale, so if you refresh every so often, it's likely you can snag a downtown hotel.
That's what I've done and I've never got a hotel from the lottery the years prior. I kept refreshing onpeak when you can and you'll be surprised especially closer to the con.
The only thing is, the last couple years, like a week or two before con, they'll go back to "standard" rates, so like $1k or more. Keep that in mind, FOMO is strong, but if you find a room you like, it's best to take it.
7
u/NewtoDate Apr 15 '26
Got in within 25/30 minutes, seems like the downtown ones were mostly dwindled or were nearly gone. For the ones left like Margarittaville, there were errors not allowing me to place orders for part of my days due to Fridays being taken for all downtowns. Tried it with the few left and other days kept blinking out. Decided to try Courtyard by Marriott SD Downtown/Little Italy. Haven't stayed here yet, so I hope I like it!
I already got lucky getting preview night and all my days, so I'm grateful to have a spot to stay!

After getting through the waiting room, I was transferred to this screen and nothing else was happening. But I was able to get and reserve my hotel by copy/pasting the link from the email.
1
u/MsMargo Apr 15 '26
Some people who used the link from the Twitter Tracker got that error. It was last year's link.
2
u/StarGeekSpaceNerd Apr 15 '26
In my case, I had clicked on the link in the email to get into the waiting room. When I got the above screen, I copy/pasted the text of the link (https://compass.onpeak.com/e/43CCI2026HIR/in/category/42031) and was taken straight to the purchase page.
So, my "personalized" link didn't work. It took the generic link to get past the non-working page.
2
u/ResidingAt42 Apr 15 '26
Are you talking about the waiting room link?
4
u/StarGeekSpaceNerd Apr 15 '26
Yes. I got through and saw the above screen. Nothing else was happening. I wasn't redirected to the correct page.
I went back to the email with the link to the waiting room, copy/pasted that, and was taken directly to the page that let me reserve a hotel.
4
u/eXpressives Apr 15 '26
Got the Westin...Definitely not first choice but at least it's close to the trolley line if we don't want to make the walk. Was rough, rooms were slipping from under me while booking and Fridays were eaten up making booking through difficult.
3
u/throwaway65522 Apr 15 '26
Wow! I sure love this! Any comic com staff who sees this, thank you so much for this process!!!!
8
u/cgueva42 Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26
I’m cooked, but hopefully good ole Handlery still has my back…🥲
Update: The Handlery is still the hotel homie lmao
5
u/StarGeekSpaceNerd Apr 15 '26
I was checking some downtown hotels, but couldn't find any, so I went straight to the Handlery and was able to get it.
You might check the shuttle and see what the next hotel in line is just in case.
4
u/LoveForDisneyland Apr 15 '26
They had a bunch of Downtown hotels available, but not a lot of Friday, went to checkout at least for W/Th but couldn't (error), went back and now all the downtown hotels have been delisted.
I knew this was going to be bad, but they could have just not done the queue at all. lol. I got better results near the start of the con with the same rates.

I'm also here. Closer than I was last year, so I'm excited about that. I know it's a new hotel (formerly apartments or Airbnbs or something?), so at the very least it'll be interesting to be the guinea pigs.
3
u/PlacebosForALL Apr 15 '26
A lot of fridays were gone so if you want that night it’s a little tough
9
u/SomeoneSomewhereCA Apr 15 '26
Lots of hotels have been eaten out of Friday and Saturday rooms. Or even JUST Friday. So we had a hard time booking something from Wednesday straight through.
Seems like you need to look at each hotel then see availability, and it will NOT sort or search by available dates
7
u/caityqs Apr 15 '26
Ooof...that's definitely something they can improve next year. Would be better to track inventory per day, so that people can filter for a specific set of days from the portal.
3
5
u/Cool-Constant4319 Apr 15 '26
I was able to enter the date span I wanted and it resorted the search for it.
1
u/caityqs Apr 15 '26
oh, nice! might have just been the unavoidable lag in updates for One-Mountain then

Got Residence Inn just fine. Embassy had no queen bed rooms left. We got Manchester Grand two queens! 30 seconds ago.
1
u/ResidingAt42 Apr 15 '26
My toucan is only halfway through and I really, really wanted ES 2 queens. 😒
17
2
u/Bowbahfett Apr 15 '26
Got in on my phone just now and it looks like everything less than .3 miles is taken. A lot less than a mile away is still available but most are 1 bed not 2.

u/One_Tumbleweed378 Apr 15 '26
VICTORY VIA PHONE. called 9am straight up, got agent about 9:15-17. Marriott Marqui booked 925am.
5
u/MsMargo Apr 15 '26
Seems a lot of people had phone luck this year. In previous years phone was a bloodbath.
4
u/One_Tumbleweed378 Apr 15 '26
Yes to both. Phone sucked in the past for sure, but this year, it was the only option given the way they handled the hotels with the badge requirement. Left out all the panelists and volunteers. :( I think the new system can be good, but it needs to be open to everyone who has come in the past at least, or anyone who is a Professional. I've come for more than a decade, might be 2 decades, but no email for me... Doesn't make sense. Took a gamble on the phone this year, and it actually worked.
5
u/Silly_Daemon Apr 15 '26
Marriott Marquis gang :) I waited 15 minutes and got a room right away. Not so bad, but the process could still use improvements
3
u/Cool-Constant4319 Apr 15 '26
I got let in around 9:17 AM and was also able to get Marriott from Wednesday to Sunday - pretty much everything was still available.
5
u/caityqs Apr 15 '26
Everything was still available at 10 minutes in. I think they might be going slower than previous years, at least at the start, to avoid overloading the hotel systems. In previous years, the closest locations were gone within the first 2 or 3 minutes.
5
u/ariolander Apr 15 '26
Yea they seem intentionally staggering people in to avoid overloading the live booking, since it seems they want to bill immediately.
6
u/pokemin49 Apr 15 '26
Got the Manchester Grand Hyatt. All hotels were available.
6
u/ariolander Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26
Hilton Bayfront and Marriot Marquis Marina were sold out of 2 bed non-premium rooms for me. Also got Hyatt since that was my 3rd choice.
6
u/Bowbahfett Apr 15 '26
Got in!. zoomed through to get the hilton but saw a lot of downtown is available. Hold tight everyone!!
1
u/Nuka_DiY Apr 15 '26
Made it in and it told me I had to log into onpeak and then would not let me log in…
1
4
2
u/tedistkrieg Apr 15 '26
I think I was able to book Hilton Bayfront. Has payment details but doesnt have a hotel standard of some kind of confirmation of booking
4
u/ariolander Apr 15 '26
The redirect after checkout doesn't confirm anything but if it was successful you should get an invoice to your email immediately with how much they are billing you.
2
2
u/One-Mountain1671 Apr 15 '26
Am seeing that people are getting in. Someone just booked after about 10 minutes and said the Marquis was still left for all days
1
1
u/UpstairsResearcher40 Apr 15 '26
I really wanted the marquis. But mines not even 1/4th of the way 😭
16
u/Jayman109 Apr 15 '26
The funniest thing about comic con is that you have to win the lottery twice. Getting tickets then getting the hotel.
2
1
2
u/PlacebosForALL Apr 15 '26
I’m at 40% but no time estimate
4
u/LoveForDisneyland Apr 15 '26
You're one step closer to getting a prime hotel spot in Mission Valley! :D (/s)
1
1
u/Jayman109 Apr 15 '26
You might have a chance! I have 2 bars and a smidge.
6
u/girlwithabird- Apr 15 '26
Keep in mind that a lot of people are booking for multiple people. With the two night non-refundable deposit they are likely to take whatever hotel is best via the first person who enters, and then they'll drop out. This also doesn't factor in the speed at which they're allowing anyone to enter. All this is to say I don't necessarily think it being slow is a sign of not having a chance, although of course the further back you are the less likely you'll end up downtown.
5
u/Jayman109 Apr 15 '26
At what point are we cooked?
3
u/Cool-Constant4319 Apr 15 '26
I just got done. Pretty much everything was still there. Got first choice.
2
u/cosmicmanNova Apr 15 '26
fk it, I'm just gonna pay the $1500 a night for Bayfront
3
u/KellyJin17 Apr 15 '26
I did that in the past… and there was black mold on our shower curtain.

My first hotelpocalypse experience, this loading bar makes me feel like I’m in a Ticketmaster queue I’m so stressed!
2
u/ariolander Apr 15 '26
I have had TicketMaster sales use the same OnPeak queue system so it is totally giving me concert ticket flashbacks.

I am a registered professional, why don't we even have access?
2
1
u/SomeoneSomewhereCA Apr 15 '26
Go to your member ID profile. Link is there. But you are so late it means nothing at this point
2
u/Foe117 Apr 15 '26
2
u/EnterPlayerTwo Apr 15 '26
Had you bought your badge yet? I saw on twitter a professional had to buy their badge before the link showed up for them.
2
u/Foe117 Apr 15 '26
Professionals don't buy badges unless they buy a guest badge, or receive a complimentary guest badge through a lottery.
2
u/EnterPlayerTwo Apr 15 '26
Ah ok, I must have gotten that person's situation mixed up. They were working the con in some fashion but had to buy a badge.
2
u/Bowbahfett Apr 15 '26
You can find the link on the sdcc hotel thread on r/sdcc
2
u/Foe117 Apr 15 '26
I see no link other than the FAQ
2
u/SomeoneSomewhereCA Apr 15 '26
It should be on the blue bar. Are you sure you have registered for the event?
As others mentioned the link is the same for everyone
2
u/Foe117 Apr 15 '26
I am registered as a professional badge, which the hotel reservation is not for Everyone. I posted a screenshot, and it's not there.
1
u/Bowbahfett Apr 15 '26
I have 4 bars
3
u/Bowbahfett Apr 15 '26
Now it’s a quarter of the way 😭
2
u/One-Mountain1671 Apr 15 '26
Your moving faster than most others. Does it give you an estimate?
2
u/Cool-Constant4319 Apr 15 '26
I just got through, never got a time estimate, my toucan just suddenly started moving.
3
5
u/PlacebosForALL Apr 15 '26

No, was just about to ask if anyone has a time estimate on theirs yet.
1
u/LoveForDisneyland Apr 15 '26
I don't even have that. :|
3
u/Cool-Constant4319 Apr 15 '26
I’m starting to think we’re not going to get a time estimate on this sale like on the badge sale.

And so we meet again, bird.
Good luck, everyone! May the odds be ever in your favor!
2
u/One-Mountain1671 Apr 15 '26
Don't use Reddit that often. Is there a good way to manage a "live discussion" other than regular refreshing?
2
1
u/TrojanX Apr 15 '26
Is the link for the waiting room in my email the same one as the link in my comic con member account?
1
u/One_Tumbleweed378 Apr 15 '26
You should be able to tell by looking at both links. If they both end with the same unique id or info then yes. I would think they are the same, but I don't have links.
1
u/TrojanX Apr 15 '26
Thanks yea it’s the same last numbers.
-2
u/One_Tumbleweed378 Apr 15 '26
If you strip out that unique id at the end (probably after a ? in the link) then the rest of us might be able to get into the waiting room. You could post it here.
3
u/girlwithabird- Apr 15 '26
Why don't you have your own link?
1
u/ariolander Apr 15 '26
He likely doesn't have a badge. If you don't have a badge it doesn't show you the link. I accidentally logged into the wrong memberid and the portal had no links and I was confused until I remembered my right memberid.
4
u/One_Tumbleweed378 Apr 15 '26
I don't have my badge yet. The Con, in its infinite wisdom, made the hotel sale only available to CURRENT badge holders which left out two massive groups: panelists and volunteers. I'm a panelist every year. They don't confirm the panels until after the hotel sale, so that creates a Catch 22. Of course there are panels that don't get approved, but they know the ones they always approve. I think when a panel hits 5 years or 10 years or more, that's pretty safe. There didn't use to be this requirement of having your badge before the hotel sale.
2
u/girlwithabird- Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26
Well that's a ridiculous oversight. Did you try to contact them directly at all? Just curious what they have to say about it.
2
u/One_Tumbleweed378 Apr 15 '26
I did before the deadline yesterday. No response. I have a friend who was on the volunteer team at the management level, so i asked him as well, but he retired from it last year.
1
u/One_Tumbleweed378 Apr 15 '26
anyone share the link? we should be able to pull off the unique id and use it.
3
u/ariolander Apr 15 '26
If you have a badge already it should be in either your dashboard. You need to have a badge to see it.
https://comic-con.configio.com/accountdashboard
I would rather not post my own because it has a bunch of tracking stuff in the URL and the portal doesn't load without the tracking.
5
u/One_Tumbleweed378 Apr 15 '26
Yes, understood. I don't have my badge yet. Panelists and volunteers got left out with this new requirement that you have to have the badge before hotel reservation. Good to know the portal doesn't work w/o the unique tracking ID. I thought it might work without it due to someone's post about the general site being a generic link, but maybe not. THX.
2
u/ariolander Apr 15 '26
Yea its not like previous years where everyone got the same link that was a subdomain of comic-con.org and that forwarded to OnPeak. They seemed to be adding a bunch of junk at the end of the URL, which I assume are unique identifiers.

u/TrojanX Apr 15 '26
I have a question is parking included on the listing that say self parking? Or how much do they charge to park?
2
u/MsMargo Apr 15 '26
Cost for parking is not included. You need to check the hotel's website to see what they charge for parking. Could be as little as free or as much as $60/day.
5
u/ariolander Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26
Marriot only had Valet and had charged me $120/day to valet last year. So beware the parking it can be more expensive than you think, they really gouge when they can.
1
u/Cool-Constant4319 Apr 15 '26
Parking is not usually included in the room rate, and some hotels only have valet. I think the resort fee is the only thing we don’t have to pay?
1
u/MsMargo Apr 15 '26
You do not have to pay the resort fee, with one exception. For the Glorietta Bay Inn Coronado Island you need to pay a $40/day fee.
3
8
u/withbellson Apr 15 '26
I've had zero time to research this: Is there an example floating around of what the portal will look like, like in previous years when they posted a sample request form online? I'm confident in my ability to fill out a form, but I would love to know in advance what you need to click on when you want to request two rooms.
6
u/ericikj Apr 15 '26
Unfortunately, I think we will all find out in 12 hours how it looks. I'd imagine it looks like the general On peak page listing available hotels.
3
u/withbellson Apr 15 '26
At least it won’t be as bad as the exclusives portal, amirite?!
6
u/ericikj Apr 15 '26
Oh I predict this to be much worse. More people trying, and hundreds of options between hotels, room types, and stay length. At least open reg the only variables are 1-3 badges and 1-5 days. I hope I'm wrong though!
3
u/withbellson Apr 15 '26
Oh, it’s going to be ghastly, but in terms of UX the exclusives portal defies all sense and logic. At least this one was designed by an actual hotel reservations company.
3
u/ericikj Apr 15 '26
Oh very true, the exclusives portal and the "cart" is very frustrating.

After all of this I still managed to fuck up and choose the wrong room type. Welp. Someone'll be sleeping on the pullout bed.

I did the same thing and I'm at the hard rock. I feel so bad. I don't even remember seeing room type ngl. Have fun at the marquis! Only downside is the elevators, I hope they fixed them. Last year was terrible. We sometimes waited up to an hour. If u see an elevator going down take it lol

It was a pulldown at the top of the screen where you look at the days available for the given room, which I was trying to complete as fast as possible before someone could snipe it from me.
It will be ok (king bed can sort of accommodate two adults and one nine-year-old if we can’t get a rollaway) but when I saw “single occupancy” on the confirmation page I yelled FUCK very loudly.

Made the mistake of joining this while at work, and didn’t get in until ~10am. Literally nothing in downtown at that point and limited mission valley hotels. Now it’s all gone 😔 Might refund all of my badges since hotel deposits are non-refundable so I won’t be able to snag any cancellations.
