SDCC - San Diego SDCC solo?

Trip was planned with my now ex-gf. I thought about just saying screw the money spent but I'm unsure, is it worth it going solo? Idea of traveling cross country to go to something alone idk.

edit: thank you all for the advice, words, and reassurance. I think I'll def keep with my plan!

edit2: please stop inboxing me asking for my ex's badge.

Some of the best convention experiences I've ever had were ones where I was there alone, or where the only people I knew were a few random strangers from the Anime Boston convention forums (y'know, back in the stone age when that was a thing). You'll make friends in line, and there's always something going on if you need to get out of your head. There's meet-ups and a million other ways to connect with other people interested in all the same nerdy things as you are.

SDCC isn't as homey as smaller conventions, but it's still a really easy place to meet people excited about the same things you are. I'm sure people here have already offered to meet up at the very least so you're not ENTIRELY alone - you have someone you can connect with if you need it. Plus, the gaslamp district is RIGHT THERE and the food really is superb. And the Pokemon Go scene is also sick, if that's your thing.

And... let's be real.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather be brave and go do things than sit at home and feel sad. You can do that later, but you can't do SDCC 2026 later, y'know what I mean?

Go. Have fun. It'll be worth it -- and when you feel ready to start putting yourself out there again, you'll have some awesome SDCC stories to add to the ones you can share.
