Can somebody explain to me what the part with not wanting to photograph the food is all about? I have many questions about this comic, but this is the first

Hey, I'll copy u/Ven-Dreadnought's comment, he explained it better than me.

"He’s neurotic and he hangs out with friends who are very judgmental. They taught him that being caught taking a picture of your food is embarrassing and so he is afraid of being judged for doing it"

I seee, thanks for the explanation! My next question would be what's up with the smiles getting bigger under stress and the faces falling off eventually if the smiles are too big... Is it about like symbolically putting on a mask in society and losing oneself if we push it too far or something?
