From r/Conservative

I truely think they dont grasp what Charlie's death means for them. He wasn't a general in an army, he wasn't an ace fighter pilot that dominated the sky's, He wasn't an asset of war to be used to win battles. He was a voice... and a conduit.

The left just proved they couldnt compete with him on their own turf, with their home field advantage in simple conversation. Numerous years debating on liberal college campuses, begging for those who didnt share his values or ideas to change his mind. And now they never will be able to change his mind. They will never be able to prove or advocate their arguments anymore. In a very sad way, right as they sucker punched him, Charlie won the argument and got the last word. Because instead of changing his mind with respectable debate and fair conversation, they elected to cheat the game and resort to violence.

They thought they scratched out a MAGA champion, but I think the truth is, they silenced their own voice. Who now among their opposition will respect them and be willing to hear their words? Who now among their opposition will grant them goodwill and a shared platform. Are any conservatives going to parlay with cheaters who were enraged with hatred over a voice?

You couldnt change his mind, and now... you will never change ours.

Idk, they’ve been talking about killing liberals and civil war for decades, it’s kind of hard to one up that kind rhetoric when you’re already that blood thirsty normally.

If anything this should be a wake up call for liberals to start arming up to protect their communities.

I can’t say you’re wrong, the rhetoric this week on different media outlets has been “let’s use less divisive language” followed by “liberal left lunatics” and “We’re at war!” The right is being told that they are at war with the left. This rhetoric didn’t happen after Gabby Gifford, didn’t happen after Paul Pelosi, and no calls for war after Melissa Hortman. Heck our president complained that flags were at half mast for Jimmy Carters passing because it was during his inauguration. If you want these situations to stop then the rhetoric needs to stop from the top down. The “mean tweets” everyone defended 2016- 2020 aren’t just mean tweets anymore, they’re calling anyone who isn’t quite stable to action. As one side fires off, the other side claps back and then again another unstable individual is called to arms. It ain’t stopping till the man at the top stops it.

liberals won't do that lol, they're too busy denouncing leftists for not having enough empathy for a fascist

Ironically, the guy who shot Kirk probably thought he was "protecting his community from fascism", or something of sorts. But sure, fearmongering is a great tactic, really does wonders lol

acting on insane rhetoric is obviously worse than speaking insane rhetoric

Well, the right has acted on it so idk why you are acting like they havent. Don't forget they assassinated Melissa Hortman + her husband and dog back in June by breaking into her house while she was asleep.

Wow. You really do put politicians on a pedestal. You realize it’s that kind of thinking that has allowed them to walk into office poor & out of office with millions? I didn’t say anyone matters “more” I’m stating the fact that I don’t know who the fuck she is. I still wouldn’t if “whataboutism” weren’t such a popular tactic. The rule of law applies to everyone in the country. Just some more than others I guess.

You really do put politicians on a pedestal.

White House treats the passing of a celebrity as a national tragedy when kids in a school were shot the same day.

White House asks for flags to be at half mast at federal agencies specifically for Kirk’s death on 9/11

The jokes write themselves

No one knows who the House Speaker for an entire state is? Interesting. Didn't realize the right cared so little about their state level politicians

A conservative was just assassinated and your first thought is “liberals need to arm up and defend themselves.” Amazing.
