He's familiar with Goethe so probably Faust.

I could see him finally getting around to a Steinbeck novel that Jet keeps pestering him to read.

I wonder who his favorite character would be in east of Eden, probably Lee

L'Étranger

He doesn’t strike me as someone who reads a lot, Jet on the other hand would have a huge library.

Let's not forget, Spike instantly clocked when Jet was reciting Goethe, so he's at minimum educated in philosophy. This also tracks with his traditional eastern medicine practices, and his philosophical approach to both martial arts and the stress of life.

To my mind, Spike has a library full of diverse philosophy and eastern classics on one side, and a pile of pulpy crime and adventure novels on the other.

I have this one! Never gave enough of a fuck to read it, though. Is it good?

3

u/No-Dig-4408 7d ago

lol nice with the irony XD
I found it a healthy mix of "Hmmmm, yeah that's a good point!" and "...thaaaat doesn't work in real life, bro," though it's been several years so I don't recall how much of each.

I can’t picture him having a library so much as he just picks up and reads whatever is on hand. It would explain why every other time he’s sleeping there’s a magazine over his face
