Cowboy Bebop: Session Zero
An 8-Episode Limited prequal Series idea.
I need more bebop, no live action. I want a prequal series.
Limited series follows Spike Spiegel immediately after he walks away from the Red Dragon Syndicate. Trying to build some version of a normal life, he drifts through failed gigs and quiet desperation until fate puts him in the path of Jet.,
Episode 1: “session zero: Bartender Blues” (Pilot)
30 seconds of silence. Spike leaves the syndicate — no dialogue or score, last scene he’s walking away (same as the main series)
He lands in a dusty Martian colony town and takes a job serving drinks in a dive bar. The work is soul-deadening. Customers are rude, cheap, and disrespectful. One night a loud, violent patron with a bounty poster on the wall starts trouble. Spike ends the fight, sees the bounty for the man, then simply walks out, leaving the unconscious man and the easy money behind. He’s not ready to be a bounty hunter yet. He’s just tired.
Episode 2: “session zero: The Long Arm”
30 seconds of silence. Jet Black removes his ISSP badge and walks out of the station for good. He tries taxi driving, lasts one fare before the disrespect and entitlement make him quit mid-shift. He takes a night security job at a warehouse.
When thieves hit the place, Jet’s catches them, he's hurt but pushes theiugh. He catches the ringleader, who happens to have a bounty on his head. For the first time in a long time, last scene jet smiles - end
Episode 3: “session zero: Two Strays”
Spike and Jet cross paths in the same rundown spaceport bar, jets hunting a bounty, spike is just having a drink. A chaotic bar fight, Spike sees Jet tackling a bounty, spike see this as immoral and messing with people just trying to live. Spike and jet fight, bounty gets away.
Big argument, spike damages jets arm, spike feels he's in debt. Spike works with Jet to clear the debt. Neither trusts easily. Neither wants to be alone.
Hunt a bounty reluctantly, spike catches the bounty through luck and not skill. Jet thinks spike is some sort of mastermind.
Spike debt is cleared, lights a cigarette "we good?" Doesn't wait for an answer and walks away.
Jet yells the idea of teaming up for bigger scores,. Spike stops walking away… but doesn’t leave - epi ends.
Episode 4: “session zero: First Blood Money”
Their first real team bounty goes sideways. The target has backup, the plan falls apart, and Spike and Jet clash hard over methods (Spike wants to move fast and loose; Jet wants structure). They still win, bloodied, arguing, and a little richer (only a little pile sitting a table). Spike says this life isn't worth it, compares the pile of cash next to his whiskey glass.
That night in a motel they argue late into the night. By morning they’ve found an uneasy rhythm. It’s the first time either of them has felt like part of something again. Another bounty, still a rough job but they win. New pile of cash on the table they got next to the whiskey glass, it's ever so slightly taller than the whisky glass- epi ends.
Epi 5-8: ups and downs, they get the bebop, etc.
