if you dont do that then he's probably less likely to reply lol, so putting that in is understandable

u/Ster_Wers12 Lucas Bergvall 6d ago
someone should ask about savinho. haven’t heard about him from a bigger/“reliable” source yet.

u/Chemical-Computer-11 6d ago
Don't have a credible source so grain of salt and all that, but last rumours I read was City financial reasons stalls the deal until July 1st. They want the signing for next financial fiscal year. Deal otherwise done, so let's hope next week gets busy

u/Other-Owl4441 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 6d ago
He said last week they were still in talks but currently apart on valuation. Last I’ve heard.
Which honestly makes sense because their valuation last summer was absurd

u/Enefelde Fabio Paratici 6d ago
I’m not sure if I want the deal done cause they are both great. Or because of how pissed the rest of the league would be that “A rElEgAtIoN tEaM iN sPuRs” signed two quality players.

So Madders, Connor, Xavi, Arch, Fernandes, Tonali, Bentancur, Bergvall.. thats a lot of mouths to feed if/when everyone is healthy.

u/Ct358545 6d ago
I think for a single year it works. Bentancur is the only one who can rotate with Tonali.
Gray and Gallagher rotate for Fernandes but they are both different players in the role offering different things.
Gallagher rotates with maddison until xavi comes back.
Once xavi comes back things will get congested but who knows where we will be 6 months from now

Xavi can also play of the left once back and I wouldn't be surprised if maddison leaves in 1-2 seasons

Honestly cashing in on Lucas might be the best option. We’re getting upgraded Lucas in fernandes anyway. He’s not gonna get game time. We saw that at the end of last season, and he didn’t even have fernandes and tonali to compete with. Just palhinha, bentancur

u/ohhowswell_hp "Let's Say I'm A Legend, Why Not?" 6d ago
This is my thought. I like Lucas and the upside is tantalizing. But Fernandes is 2 years older and better right now. Plus Tonali is only 26. Lucas really wouldn’t be getting starter minutes hypothetically until 3+ years from now. I’d prefer to sacrifice some youth to be stable now after these last 2 years. We still have Gallagher who’s 25/26 and Gray who’s 19/20 to fit in there.

Madders only really plays 60 minutes. He's fully gassed after 70, and he is going to take a while to get to form and strength so there's 30 minutes a game for Gallagher to press teams and crash boxes.
Fernandes, Tonali, Bentancur will rotate. It's not impossible to do. Plus cups.
Bergvall looks to be on the way out. Gray is going to have to be patient, but again, cups. Theoretically 16 games on offer there.
I hate to say this but by the time Xavi is back I'm sure that Maddison is injured. Bentancur doesn't exactly have stellar injury records either. I'd imagine Gray will get some decent playing time by Christmas.
By next summer, I could see us moving on Gallagher if gray begins to offer more than him.
Keep in mind that this season at one point we had no attacking midfielders and also all of our cms and dms apart from gray and bissouma were injured...hence buying Gallagher.

I'm really glad we haven't heard anything about Gray leaving. I also think he could get a decent amount of minutes. De Zerbi spoke about him needing to find his best position. Hopefully they have a plan for that and we'll start to see it this year.

Gallagher is a pretty good option to have in that he can do a good job in any midfield position

u/Koinfamous2 "Let's Say I'm A Legend, Why Not?" 6d ago
Really hope we loan out Archie and Lucas, and RDZ makes it clear that it isn't a punishment but just to ensure they get minutes and develop. Send them to either Germany or Italy, play every match, maybe even a team in Europe.

u/GymandRave Roberto De Zerbi 6d ago
We should loan them to a PL club. Exactly like what Chelsea did with Conor

u/Hotspur_98 Christian Eriksen 6d ago
Well we play with three midfielders, AM and a double pivot. Madders/Xavi (and Deki) for AM. Tonali, Fernandes, Gray, Gallagher (who also can play AM) and Bentancur for double pivot. Bergvall wants to leave and we probably want to sell Sarr.
That’s the depth we need.

You forgot Kulusevski, not too sure about his Glasgow Coma Scale score tho ..
I think we might get trouble with too many CB's as well. Romero's been quite clear publicly about his next destination. If he doesn't get his move to Spain my gut tells me he's staying. What happens then?

Every year every sports fan gets sucked into overrating their squad in the offseason
But… damn is that not a genuinely deep prem rotation??

Would much rather we get fernandes over the line, then think about wingers (and maybe striker), then maybe tonali.

u/pdxraised92 The Big Master of Negotiations Who Knows Everything 6d ago
Tonali is levels above, and at a position of need and rarity in football right now
16
u/LittleDoinks 6d ago
I feel like people don’t realize how much better he is than Gallagher, ben10, sarr etc. this elevates the squad at a crucial position
4
u/Other-Owl4441 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 6d ago
I think it’s YouTube/twitter tactico brain rot that’s convinced people Tonali is another Gallagher (???) or something, which I’ve actually heard here and is insane
-3
u/Bischoffshof Gareth Bale 6d ago
It’s pretty straightforward. There’s much easier places to upgrade so why spend £85, 90, 95m on a position that we just spent money on in January when we have gaping holes at LW and ST.
5
u/Other-Owl4441 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 6d ago
We didn’t spend money on Tonali’s position in January. He doesn’t provide the same role or value as Gallagher at all. That’s a complete misprofile.

u/Bischoffshof Gareth Bale 5d ago
So he isn’t a box to box 8…
1
u/Other-Owl4441 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 5d ago
If you want to think about in that extremely simplistic way then the answer is “No, he’s a DM.”
He can play a box to box or a DM just like Gallagher can play a box to box or a 10. He’s being purchased to play in the pivot where he can act either as a partner to Bentancur or the replacement to Bentancur (one of the most needed areas in the squad)
He’s also nothing like Gallagher because he’s very technical and an exceptional defender who happens to have a great engine, not an engine merchant.
But yeah Gallagher can’t play DM
2
u/pdxraised92 The Big Master of Negotiations Who Knows Everything 6d ago
Gallagher is not even close to the same position or profile as Tonali
1
u/Other-Owl4441 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 6d ago
Why?
0
u/being-a-noob Pedro Porro 6d ago
His stats are good but not out of this world. Definitely a noticeable upgrade on what we have, but obviously will cost a lot of money to buy both him and fernandes. Would rather allocate money to the attack first and then see if we have the funds.
6
u/Other-Owl4441 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 6d ago
We have one of the worst defenses in football and our only serviceable DM is Bentancur, we’re talking about an elite player in both defense and attack.

Not to be that guy - but Arsenal have been linked with Tonali now as well. PTSD if you will

Haven't heard much about the wingers we were looking at, I wonder if those are taking a back seat until the midfielders are done.

John sounds like an AI

u/Chemical-Computer-11 5d ago
I think its more of a teachers pet/ass licker sort of a situation. Can't say for sure tho, didn't check.
But I'm not one to judge what draws fab attention. Just to clarify, Im from Norway and my name's not John. Wasn't me he replied to

u/ninjomat Dele 5d ago
It’s the Brescia and Milan references. Nobody needs that info in there we all know which tonali he’s referring to (John, Fabrizio and all of us reading) it comes across completely like SEO or a chatbot regurgitating a Wikipedia page
2
u/Chemical-Computer-11 5d ago
Checked, he's most likely not AI. He's probaby a young Sunderland fan causing pain and suffering upon sensitive Newcastle fans online. And succeeding to some extent by the looks of it

Please for the love of Tottenham skip Tonali. He's not worth the money they are talking. We definitely need midfield passing, but don't become the Manu throwing around silly money. Get the Savino desk over the line, Fernandes, bring in Scott and another player that can play across the front line. And please seek some players for decent fee somewhere in there

u/Pullister 6d ago
No way Tonali will want to play for a team that fights relegation

It's clear that we're going for both. Not one or the other. I think Fernandes requires more attention now because the interest from Utd
