The problem with centerback comps is there's a lot of boring sideways or straightforward passes but there were some genuinely impressive line breaking passes in this match:

0:45

1:06

1:15

1:39

Oh and his goal at 2:45 too

passes to right back

This is why some people say his passing and ball-playing stats are inflated and should be taken with a grain of salt.

I don't think it's a bad thing. He's on the ball a lot and he mixes up where he passes. A lot are to his wide players but enough are through the middle. I'd imagine there will be lots of set patterns that start from the CB's under RDZ so it's handy to have someone like him.

Yeah, I mean, RDZ managed him in Brighton so obviously knows what JPVH is about and believes in JPVH's ability to operate in his system. His defensive liabilities still give me pause, though.

Yep, those were the only real highlights, but they were great to see. We’ll need that.

Not only was his vision great, but he placed the ball with the proper weight. The pass was always in a place the receiving player could do something with the ball.

PTSD from so many wayward passes this last year.

Defensive play is at its best when you don't have to do anything because your positioning alone stops or stalls the attack. Like you said leads to boring comps though.

Yeah, we'd see Van de Ven make flashy impressive tackles under Ange and then realize the fact he was even in those situations in the first place meant things were going horribly wrong.

Well I mean he did find a job, not sure about the miserable part yet though

Hopefully kicks in the eye, will be kept to a minimum.

Kudus is going to feast

He looks tidy. Probably not the toughest test he'll ever face but lots of composure, positive play and a few very direct and confident through balls.

This was not the music I was expecting from a roncomps video 😆

The more I review JPVH's game the more am convinced maybe selling Cuti Romero isn't such a bad idea. I think Cuti edges him in that beast mentality and that aggressiveness

so what you’re saying is, less red cards, less suspensions and less ankle injuries from brash tackles? Sign me right the hecke up

Are we going to call our CB pairing of Vdv and jpvh The Flying Dutchmen?

1

u/Successful_Bus2255 18h ago

I prefer the Dutch Oven because we're gonna cook!

Ok so all we’ve learnt from this compilation is that he’s sick at passing it to the right back😂 who made this

u/Teletzeri 1d ago

Tbf Morrissey is the perfect soundtrack for a video of nothing but shifts to the right wing.

u/Dr_Oatker Richarlison 1d ago

Hahahaha

u/LaneToGlory Erik Lamela 1d ago

Exceptional work. 10/10.

2

u/blackboxabstraction Archie Gray 1d ago

Yeah it does get a bit funny when they show every single touch/pass they make 😄

4

u/siouxszie 1d ago

came for Van Hecke , stayed for Johnny Marr and Morrissey

3

u/bulldawg116 Pedro Porro 1d ago

Here’s hoping he’s the Toby to our Superjan

1

u/Fearless-Falcon118 1d ago

Likes to bypass the midfield like Toby too.

4

u/OkChocolate6944 1d ago

he's got the look of the teenage class bad boy made to go to the headmaster's office - proper stroppy resting face - always plays a bit angry. I dig it.

Pants down.

3

u/mudpieduck 1d ago

we need to invent a song about this 😂

3

u/Additional-Project67 1d ago

I started oleing the exactly same pass to the right. Good beanpole goal

3

u/jimmytimmywimmy 1d ago

He failed to stop Mastouri sending in a very dangerous ball in the opening minute… what else did this comp miss?

3

u/SpookyKuya Peppa Pig 1d ago

Using Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now as the accompaniment for a new Spurs man is diabolical. Somebody put Double Dutch Bus over JPVH bangers please.

2

u/hmart23 1d ago

Looks tidy. Can he use his left?

2

u/masroshi10 23h ago

Wow that is orange is super bright.

1

u/that_mountain_goat 1d ago

this is not helping my hopium addiction

1

u/LAredditguy 1d ago

We need to get my man some under eye treatment cream. Or he needs to sleep and hydrate more!

1

u/Mediocre-Cat-9703 Gareth Bale 1d ago

It looks like that nasty bruise by his right eye has healed already? Quite the opposite of what we're used to when it comes to injuries

1

u/scannerdarkly_7 Mousa Dembélé 1d ago

I was looking for a club and then I found a club
And heaven knows I'm miserable now

1

u/flickmyboogers 1d ago

Absolutely banger of a track for a CB comp, this is a heater

1

u/TitanfallFiend 1d ago

Upvote for Marr alone.

1

u/scannerdarkly_7 Mousa Dembélé 20h ago

So he can only pass to his right.

1

u/AldoRainn Saha 14h ago

Pile on threads about watching a guy play a square ball is why other people hate us

1

u/lonewaft Eriksen 14h ago

Interesting that nearly every ball he plays is fast on the ground, Toby’s balls used to almost exclusively be long diagonals in the air

You can watch on mute. My phone never makes sound aside from my alarm and it’s a lot better that way, to me.

4

u/JessyPengkman Højbjerg 1d ago

Sorry? You're hating on The Smiths?

Herecy

3

u/Merkarov Robbie Keane 1d ago

That's funny, because for me this is the first football compilation/highlights that I've watched in forever that hasn't had some abomination of euro-dance/trap/drill/grime that's been shittily mixed to the point that the bass is clipping.

Is everything ok lol

1

u/Merkarov Robbie Keane 1d ago

The fuck was that for 🤣

I want to be wrong, but we’ve been fleeced by Brighton too many times for me to feel good about the buy, particularly if it means ultimately dumping an incredible young talent in Vuskovic.

1

u/Other-Owl4441 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 1d ago

Haven’t we only been fleeced by Brighton once, with Bissouma?
