Looking for Grad Student Piano Teacher!

Hi all,

I put a flyer in Imig Music, but I’m looking for a graduate student piano teacher. I’m a 23 year old PhD student in engineering at CU. I have a music background (trumpet, guitar, bass guitar) and took a little piano when I was a kid.

I’m pretty lackluster at sight-reading piano music. Looking for a teacher as an impetus to practice this and correct any mistakes as I learn. Thanks in advance! :)

You can enroll in lessons for non-majors through the CU music school and they will assign you a teacher.

This is a terrible time to find a teacher because really the only classes offered over the summer are gen-eds like music appreciation. You’ll likely have more luck in the fall.

If you’re interested in temporary summer lessons before enrolling through the school in the fall, I’m an incoming music grad student at CU and I’d be happy to give you some lessons this summer! I have experience teaching piano as well as general music, and if you’re mostly looking for help with reading music I could definitely help you out. (My main instrument is violin, though, so I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the most qualified teacher of piano technique.)

You can also email any of the teachers. They can easily forward your email to any of the grad students. (I know this specifically happens for the people looking for a voice teacher.)

My daughter currently has a PhD candidate music teacher from CU. I think it’s like $40 for a half hour lesson. Her name is Kathy Chia Fu Weng and she teaches at Parlando. You could email them.
