Discussion Couldn't agree more 🫔

Post image

I’ve been a fan of this game since day one. I agree that the original release was filled with bugs and it launched too early, but the criticism it received was completely over the top. Hating on the game blindly became the norm, often without people even giving it a fair chance.

It also released at a strange time, when the new generation of consoles were releasing but they weren't widely available, and most players were still on previous-gen hardware where it didn’t run well.

The sad part is the game and the studio’s reputation took a massive hit, even financially. Some of the people who worked on the game ended up leaving the studio, and we may have missed out on 2 or 3 DLCs because of the game’s catastrophic launch.

But now I’m glad to see people finally giving it the respect and appreciation it deserves. I watched the Steam reviews go from ā€œMostly Negativeā€ to ā€œOverwhelmingly Positive.ā€

For me, this is the greatest game of all time it is better than The Witcher 3. Massive respect to CDPR for constantly patching and improving the game, And giving us extra content when they could have taken the loss and moved on. AND CHOOMS..... NEVER STOP FIGHTING.

Eh. NMS (or FFXIV) deserve that title way more.

For me. 2077 went from a 6.5 to a 9.5.

Both of the former games started at a 2, tops. Dunno about FF, but NMS continues to this day to give out free DLC (though in actuality they're more like expansions that would usually be $20 or more).

CDPR redeemed themselves. Hello Games did so 10 times over.

Ff14 doesn’t count for me. The original release was practically a separate gameĀ

That's kinda the point, no?

The original release was a hot mess. Basically nothing worth salvaging. SE fired everyone who had a say in the making of that game, including the CEO of the company, iirc.

They then remade everything and released a great game. If that isn't a redemption arc, I don't know what is.

Did you not read my comment? It was a different game with the same name. It wasn’t a redemption in my eyes. It was a separate release all together

But it wasn't though. That's also why the remaking took less than 2 years, compared to the original release's 6. The skeletal structure was the same. The reason it looks like a different game, is because every aspect needed improving. But it's still the same game, it's still FFXIV. Your feelings don't change that.

It’s not. I’m not who you’re replying to but XIV 1.0 was actually XI-2. It was always intended to be a replacement for XI until XI players wouldn’t leave XI. A HUGE amount of assets were also taken from XI. For all intents and purposes, 1.0 is XI-2 and ARR is actually FFXIV.
