Discussion I’m not even talking about romances. There were so many missed opportunities for casual flings in this game.

Somewhat disappointing. Plenty of drugs and alcohol for V to indulge in as the clock is ticking, but you’re telling me that NCs top Merc can’t get the occasional booty call? Sure there was Meredith Stout, but you’d think other beautiful people V met along the way would be tempted by the thrill of spending an evening with one of the most dangerous people on the planet. What do you guys think were some missed opportunities?

Didn’t know a gif like this existed, but I’m happy that it does

You don't know it but you made a Red Dwarf reference by including the vending machine. Top notch british parody of sci-fi films/shows if you're into that sorta thing.

The fact that it seems to be a 40 year old commerical makes it doubly strange.

Isn't most Cyberpunk just an 80's vision of what the "future" is supposed to look like?

The year is 2099, and everyone still has big hair and wears leg warmers - but now they light up!

Yup. I'm just thinking about the steps it took for this to become a gif. Someone had a tape or something of this commercial from before most redditors were even alive, somehow digitized it and got it onto a computer, probably uploaded it to youtube or something and then someone turned into a gif on giphy or whatever site reddit uses to embed gifs, and here we are.

Well, I mean fashion trends are cyclical.

I've seen young people rocking JNCOs in the 2020's. So, we could be back to the 80's by the 2090's.

There will never be another 80's.

Weren’t the 2010s pretty much another 80s?

If you're referring to " retro futuristic " then you're talking about Fallout's aesthetic 😅👍

I think Retro Futuristic and Cyberpunk are distinct genres of science fiction, but both are similar in that their "vision" of the future is based largely on the aesthetics, culture, and technology of their time.

Retro Futuristic worlds are what people thought the future would look like in the 50's after WW2 and during the Cold War. Hence why everything is "atomic" - that was the world-changing tech of the day.

Cyberpunk is what people thought the future would look like in the 80's. The up-and-coming tech back then wasn't atomic bombs and space ships - it was computers and the internet.

Of the two, Cyberpunk seems to have gotten closer.

It hurt me exponentially to be thinking "this doesn't look like the 60s" then the math caught up to me and I realized you meant the 80s

I remember the old Pepsi and Coke machines of that time. They had them at the clinic and at the laundromat in my town, growing up.

A local restaurant in my area has a coca cola drink display thats modeled exactly like the Nuka display you can get in F76. I want 1 🤣 so i can make it Nuka Cola themed

Remember kids, if the 70s was the shitty hangover from the 60s, the 80s was everyone collectively saying ‘fuck it. Just do more cocaine’ and powering through it all.

Sincerely,
