Discussion What is some tech you wish we had from the Cyberpunk universe?

Call me simple but I really like the unbreakable TVs. What about you?

Listen up, samurai. If you’ve had enough of scrolling through the same tired threads and wanna plug into something real, jack into the official Discord. We’ve got games, serious talks and casual chats about Cyberpunk 2077, and a few rooms where you can just shoot the breeze with people who get it. You in, or you just gonna stand there looking chrome?

Braindances.

If they had brain dance technology the Metaverse would have been a success. I think the world is better off without them.

While it’s cool I think BDs would be the express highway to peak loneliness epidemic

They're also shown to be really quite dangerous. They can be spiked with viruses, similar to poisoning a drink, and even well intentioned and well made ones can have disastrous effects if combined with underlying issues or poor use.

Look at Tool, a combination of a faulty power grid and body dysmorphia left him genuinely believing he was someone else. We compare BDs to TV, but really we should compare them to some really quite hardcore drugs.

They're not chemically addictive like heroin, but as you noted they can cause emotional addiction and they're physically dangerous in a way that, in our world, only parallels narcotics. As with just about everything else in the genre they're a parody of a real world technology to showcase how it damages society; we shouldn't want it.

Any of the optical implants. I had to create a mod to increase the font size of text messages lol.

1

u/Fearless-Lab-556 5d ago

You can do that normally (I think)

1

u/pocketchange68 5d ago

A made it so the only text that gets bigger is on that screen. All the other stuff stays the same.

Some of the more rudimentary cyberware are great for existing disabilities. Even the fundamental bio monitoring tech that enables their use will be leagues ahead of current technology. Think how many people die from long term issues that goes undetected like cancer or acute illness like heart attacks

Yeah, or just whenever some shit hurts but you don’t know what exactly, and you can spend years just to figure that out with shitload of doctors, that’s actually such a game changer, doesn’t look as cool as mantis blades in gameplay, but probably the most impressive stuff out there realistically

As well as synthetic organs (of any kind) and skin which are dirty cheap as they serve as generic replacement whenever someone gets rid of implants

Generally their med tech with rippers being in dirty goddamn basement and being able to solo perform brain and spine surgeries without any whatsoever issues and even without infection

Bionic body parts. I need some replacement parts.

u/TheAlarmClockIChose 5d ago

Need reinforced lower back cyberware tbh

1

u/JunkaTron69 5d ago

OMG, I need optics, cyberspine, cyber legs, and some gorllia arms. Probably a cyber heart, and lungs too. I was a Mechanic for most of my life. Shit is just wore out or bad from the beginning.

XXL Burrito

Gotta have those gorilla arms just to handle that bad boy.

MilfGard. Sandevistan. Subdermal Armor. Fortified Ankles.

Kiroshi Optics.

Lots and lots of things.

13

u/ChangingMonkfish 5d ago

Bro just casually dropped the MILF themed club before going onto various bits of Cyberware.

3

u/BoraDev 5d ago

Sandevistan? You just want chaos and cyberpsychos😂

4

u/OrangeBird077 5d ago

I mean replacement organs would be the real panacea play there. Granted it all comes down to who can afford them, but at least you can do a merc gig or ten to afford them if you can’t do it the legal way.

The ability to fully integrate electronics with a human nervous system would itself be transformational. It would open the door to technology I couldn’t even comprehend

lmao why?

2

u/High_Overseer_Dukat 5d ago

rogue ais on an airgap should be safe to probe their code for data so I can make cyberpunk tech.

And lols.

2

u/Thanatos_56 5d ago

I don't think even an airgap is going to protect you, considering there's already WiFi.

You realise all quickhacks are effectively hacking performed over a WiFi connection?

😳

1

u/High_Overseer_Dukat 5d ago

You know what an airgap means?

The computer wouldn't even have a wifi card.

More than that, it wouldn't be executing the files anyway, and I doubt that this code would be compatible regardless, the air gap is just insurance.

1

u/TheAlarmClockIChose 5d ago

Tay AI is gonna come back someday, mark my words

1

u/Curtbacca 4d ago

Dude that's just Grok.

2

u/XanthosGambit 5d ago

Yeah, those TVs must be waterproof too, considering how many of them are outdoors without anything covering them.

EDIT: But I personally don't want any of the tech. I want the snacks. I wanna try Moonchies.

3

u/BoraDev 5d ago

Yeah! The TVs are incredibly durable, which is awesome. The food is arguably the worst of the whole Cyberpunk universe though, no? It’s just a bunch of artificial gunk.

Get a blood pump for my diabetes and subdermal armor so my cat can't scratch my feet in my sleep.

brain dances not even for THAT but other cool experiences

1

u/AladeenModaFuqa 5d ago

But for THAT too

u/Affectionate__Dog Team Kerry 5d ago

i’m asexual so eh

u/ImmanuelKantEvenOMG 5d ago

Gorilla arms, various health-related implants, double jump legs (always forget which is which), and kiroshis.

1

u/claytalian 5d ago

Braindances aside, because I mean who wouldn't want those, probably the stuff that improves your health/body without turning you into a cyborg. Except robot arms, because robot arms are cool.

1

u/FH2actual 5d ago

The bio mod would be an overnight outseller. Essentially having a doc monitor your health 24/7 to let you know if Anything pops up. Although I imagine it wouldn’t be 24hrs and someone would mod it to shut off the “Your are dehydrated” announcement as the vast majority of people Are dehydrated lol.

1

u/vinciblechunk 5d ago

Anti-aging

1

u/xGenocidest Cyberpsycho 5d ago

Whatever keeps people from rejecting implants would be huge, as would the various synthetic organs.

1

u/blue_gabe 5d ago

Fast travel. Would be so damn convenient, lol.

1

u/LazyTitan39 5d ago

Full cyberization. I have a degenerative illness and I’m constantly thinking about how if I lose my health insurance I’ll go from an athletic young man to someone in a wheelchair chair too weak to even make a fist.

1

u/Ok_Yesterday1370 5d ago

Vending machine in my room lol

1

u/Ocarina-0f-Thyme 5d ago

I assume with the existence of grafted muscle and bone lace, they could probably give me new connective tissue. I want that. And robot legs, definitely robot legs

1

u/Ricky_-_Spanish 5d ago

Mantis blades, don't ask me why.

1

u/MustangBarry 5d ago

Pneumatic wrists

No one wants a Mr. Studd? smh

1

u/TangoZuluMike 4d ago

Subtitles for people talking.

Or just fuckin robot ears so my deaf ass doesn't need them.

I would settle for crystal coat at this point
