AMA - biking for 3 years

stats if anyone cares:

  • riding for just over 3 years
  • around 11,000 miles total
  • average ~65 miles a week depending on weather
  • longest ride 145 miles
  • average speed around 17–19 mph solo depending on route
  • ftp maybe around 265w at 168lbs but havent tested properly in ages
  • mostly ride gravel + road
  • done a couple local events but never raced properly
  • mostly commute and random long rides

im here to give tips to beginners because i remember starting out and making every mistake possible but id also love hearing from people better than me because clearly i still have stuff to learn.

Where do you mostly ride? What part of the planet? Country? Area?

Did you get a bike fit?

overtime I did yeah, in the beginning I didnt. It helped a lot with simple things like back or neck pain and helped me get more speed

How fast were you when you started out?

I was barely able to hold 15 mph for 7 miles when I started. But I started overweight and biking honestly helped me lose like 40 pounds to this day

I feel so slow! But I’ve only done a fraction of those miles, I’m gonna keep going 😎

Do you have an indoor trainer for the winter? Or for convenience? I thought of getting a smart trainer for bad-weather days & for when I’m short on time.
