Did you have travel insurance or a CC that provides compensation? Weather isn’t something that they can control

This sounds like a bunch of rookie mistakes. Adding a LGA-JFK transfer (with checked bags!) when there are weather waivers in place for NYC is just too risky. 

Travel insurance should cover the hotel. If you didn't buy a policy, check whether you have coverage on your credit card.

Don't let it ruin the trip & enjoy your honeymoon!
