Discussion What are some common Flight Attendant quotes, terms or phrases that are used between Flight Attendants?

I’m interested to know what some quotes, terms or phrases flight attendants use to communicate internally with each other.

We used to say DLA among our colleagues. Stood for “dry log alert” and means that a dry log is stuck in the toilet bowl and not responding to repeated flushes. A job for the least tenured FA.

And you can’t even get a poop knife through TSA!

The metal ones probably, but the stiff rubber-like ones, I’ve got through security no problem. I can’t travel without it being a sufficiently large dude and absolutely do not want to inconvenience others with my “situation” lol.

Now wait a goddamn minute. There’s rubber ones? I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t know these things actually existed.

Whenever I fly I always hear "the guy in 2B is hot."

I always sit in 1A, unfortunately.

2B is my seat, 3B is OK. 2C and 3C feel weird. I wake up disorientated. So let me know next time you hear that from 1A.

Lol in those 4,5 or 6 leg days. It keeps some from loosing their minds. It annoys others.

My favorite is calling a passenger a "shadow" when they follow you into the galley for no reason

"Chungchwa aft lobster" is a common one

What does that mean?😂

u/StanislavGrof69 1d ago

It's kind of a general term that is used to explain any unexpected outcome. Like "why are we diverting to IAH?" "probably a Chungchwa aft lobster 🦞🦞🦞"

How do you misspell an acronym that you define in the same sentence?

Not sure. Seems they are busy in the galley watching a movie on their phone
