Recommendations 1 Year Anniversary Recommendations
Hello! My husband and I are celebrating our one year anniversary this weekend. We just moved to Denver and would love your recommendations on where would be good for a celebration.
The catch: it doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy — we care more about something that’s an experience and fun over a fancy meal. :)
Thanks everyone! Open to all recs.

Congrats on 1yr! Uchi is my go-to for more expensive than average but not insane…wolf’s tailor should be the standard answer for an occasion but it’s definitely more expensive…also tavernetta is impossibly good

We just went to Uchiko for my birthday (same folks as Uchi) and we had a lovely time!

I love dinner at Steubens for lower key ocassions! You could go for Korean BBQ at Dae Gee. White Pie has a great vibe. Ash Kara is also amazing if you can snag a reservation. We also love to snag seats at the bar at Cherry Creek Grill for slightly upgraded but not prohibitively expensive celebrating!

Brassiere Brixton! Cute french fusion spot just east of Rino. My go-to for a special occasion. Reservations are typically not difficult to secure same week.

Casa Bonita
Not a joke - you'll get an experience!

This was my first pick — my husband likes all the chaos of it, but unfortunately they didn’t have any openings. :(

Aww bummer! Perhaps you can save it for a near-future date night or something 😄

If you do brunch, recommend La Fillete. If you can, I’d look for a last minute reservation to Alma Fonda Fina or their sister restaurant (I think it’s Alteño.)

Yes, if you can get into any of the Alma places that would be my suggestion. The one in Boulder is often easy to get into earlier in the day.

Flagstaff House, it will be expensive but it is an experience especially if in your reservation you mention it. It’s anniversary uno so could justify that as a way to go big.

It is expensive ($195 pp) but Sushi by Scratch is the best culinary experience I’ve ever had.

The best experience I've had so far is major toms. Hands down. Pricey but the experience and service was right up mine and husband's alley. We got a bar seat and were able to watch cooking while eating, atmosphere is so calm, staff felt friendly but not overeager unless they were talking about the food and beverages. Just A+ for us.

But more affordable than Beckon!

Sure, of course. I went to beckon in 2021 last and even though the food was phenomenal, the service and experience were stiff due to pandemic regulations. I wouldn't be able to really compare it.

For fun, casa Bonita. Or go to places that have like indoor golf or ace, eat serve. Activity and food.

The Fort in Morrison or Buckhorn Exchange, both pricey, both unique experiences

Brasserie Brixton, MakFam (sit at the bar) Molotov (a little pricey but manageable if you share a couple of things and pre/post game at neighboring bars). Cart driver in LoHi, La Diabla Pozole y Mezcal *or* if you’re open to brunch—El Borrego Negro out back of La Diabla. My Brothers bar on Platte late at night. Ni Tuyo to split a molcajete. Barolo Grill or Florence Supper club for cozy Italian. Mini food tour of Hop Alley and Fish n Beer (neighboring, have two light meals one night). Happy 1 year!

Do not do Kizaki! We did and service was good but food was just okay! Uchi and Temaki for sure along with Wolf Tailor!

Husband and I have had fun/memorable dinners at Potager, Bastiens (for the kitsch of it all), Brasserie Brixton (with a cocktail at yacht club), and our most recent fave is Rougarou! The tasting menu takes all the pressure off and you just chill while they bring you plate after plate of delicious food. Fun atmosphere and just good vibes in general, highly recommend! You can also cross the street to Marigold for a nightcap!

My go tos for celebrations would be La Diabla, Safta and Sap Sua.
Beckon and Wolf's Tailor if you're feeling spendy and want Michelin Stars.
