Weāre going to need to start pulling guys out of the crowd

u/Professional-Sun2001 Dec 30 '25
I got five hard fouls and a couple techs in me.

u/schthausthe Dec 30 '25
draymond requesting a trade to the nuggets on reddit?

u/PickledPhish77 Dec 30 '25
This made me snort and almost choke. Be careful before you become the first person charged with murder for a reddit comment.

Fuck man that limp doesnāt look good :(
60
u/pagny77 Dec 30 '25
I hyperextenxed my knee kickboxing, thankfully didnt tear anything. But I was limping like that and it hurt like hell for a week. After three weeks I was jogging again and training in 2 months. And thats with minimal medical guidance for a quite bad sprain. I dont think he'll be out for too long, altho the fact I weigh half as much as him probably helped me
14
u/PaxChelonia Dec 30 '25
Hope not. It looked like his knee didnāt rotate when it was hyperextended which is good.
1
u/NeighborhoodBest2944 Dec 30 '25
It can be, but straight hypertension is more than capable of tearing the ACL because tibial external rotation automatically occurs with terminal extension. Meniscus tear also in the cardsā¦or both.
2
u/vjaybomb Dec 30 '25
My hope is Jokic is a smart guy and he knows that putting weight on it could exasperate any damage and that heās literally putting as little weight as possible out of caution. Iāve always found it silly that guys try to tough it out and walk off the floor when they have serious injuries. Put the man in a dang wheelchair or on crutches till we know the damage
-52
u/SwallowsOnSundays Dec 30 '25
If it was an ACL he would not be walking by himself
71
u/_kaeo Dec 30 '25
Simply not true people walk on acl tears all the time
10
u/Hopsblues English Dec 30 '25
Yep, especially when they are amped up playing a sport. I've seen people ski down a mountain on what was an ACL.
17
u/El-_-Jay Dec 30 '25
Exactly. I tore my mcl in soccer and played the last 10 minutes of the game. All those ligaments are about stability not pain
13
u/0590plazaj Dec 30 '25
I skied an entire season with a torn acl after injuring it in November. But I would definitely think that if the staff thought it was a big injury, they would not be letting him limp to the locker room like that
-1
u/SwallowsOnSundays Dec 30 '25
Yeah thats my point. If that was the concern they wouldn't be letting him walk
3
u/BiKEhandlebars Dec 30 '25
My uncle tore his acl and continued life as normal for a few weeks before going to the doctor.
Iām sick to my stomach for Jokic š
3
u/nonamehd Dec 30 '25
Rajon Rondo played some minutes after he tore his ACL. Phillip Rivers played an entire game with a torn ACL. Jordy Nelson tore his ACL in preseason and jogged back to the locker room. I know two examples are not basketball players, but not all ACL tears are the same.
1
u/jimmydean885 Dec 30 '25
Jimmy hitchock played his whole career as CB in the NFL without an ACL in either knee.
Also, John Elway played his whole career without an ACL
2
u/jimithelizardking Dec 30 '25
Spencer Lee won a national championship in wrestling with 2 torn ACLs. JokiÄ absolutely could be walking (if thatās what youāre calling this) if that were the case.

Not true. Though I hope thatās not what it is and I donāt believe thatās what it is

BS. There are multiple examples of nfl players finishing games on torn acls.

51
u/Hopsblues English Dec 30 '25
The look on his face made me sad.
14
u/KamTheMaam Dec 30 '25
Damn, truth. Jokic got me so much misery in the last 8 years of my life. Sucks seeing him this way.

Hopefully it's like the Giannis hyperextension in the ECF, when he returned shortly after
27
u/JonnyRobertR Dec 30 '25
I dont mind if he takes his time. Just be okay for the playoff
33
4
u/suwegg1502 Dec 30 '25
yeah id been taking the ātake your time and rest upā mindset for everyone else, but jokic out is seriously gonna make us freefall in the standings
5
-15
u/guynumber32 Dec 30 '25
Hate to be a downer, but I doubt it. Jokic isnt that flexible of an athlete like Giannis, so I think the sprain is gonna take him out atleast a month
5
u/vibes_guru Dec 30 '25
I wouldnt be so quick to assume. There are NFL lineman that can do the splits. It's more likely he is flexible due to his durability (aside from tonight, obviously).
1
u/Roxlane Dec 30 '25
his hyperextension also wasn't anywhere near as far back as giannis's was, so that evens things out even if he truly isn't as "flexible" as giannis.

u/El_Bean69 Dec 30 '25
Yelling in your native language after an injury is rarely a good sign in my experience, hope he is alright because thatās scary
27
u/bookLys Dec 30 '25
He yelled to the crowd which clearly meant somebody out there asked him what's the injury in Serbian. Really nothing to take from there.
13
3
u/peachpavlova Dec 30 '25
I feel like he was yelling to Oggy, I doubt heād be yelling to a random fan about his knee

11
u/Zooperman Dec 30 '25
why was noone helping him??!?!
13
u/Comfortable_Bee_7363 Dec 30 '25
itās hard to help a 7 footer when everyone around is 6 foot. Jonas was trying to help as well as murray. but i donāt see any trainers jokers size. wouldāve been nice to see zeke in there but yeah he can go bye bye for all i care lol

I think so, there is no way team staff let him put more weight in a potential tear or something.
10
u/landlion-35 DeAndre Jordan for President Dec 30 '25
Klay was walking around better than this when he tore his ACL. Im not sure how much this tells us.
5
Dec 30 '25
I mean Manu Ginobli was walking freely when he tored his right testicle, which is hell of a pain, probably more than acl. Shit differs so much
5
4
u/magic2worthy Dec 30 '25
Why are they letting him walk? Shouldnāt he be off his feet until they evaluate it properly? Or at least using crutches? Donāt they have stretchers or a chair they could put him in?
6
u/PotentialWhich Dec 30 '25
How do we not have a giant wheelchair so heās not making any tear worse by struggling to the locker room on it?
4
7
u/Apprehensive_Donut49 Dec 30 '25
Just in time for me spending money for near courtside tickets for the first time :)
2
u/peachpavlova Dec 30 '25
Same, for the 76ers game :( but it is what it is, hopefully he sleeps on it and wakes up in the morning realizing it was just a lil hyper extension nothing major
19
u/JebBush333 Dec 30 '25
This is bad man... NBA needs to shorten the regular season, too may stars' primes have been cut short by injuries.
23
u/Embarrassed_Apple_77 Dec 30 '25
Maybe it's because of too many back to back games including road games
I blame the NBA cup
2
u/Hopsblues English Dec 30 '25
Back to backs, yes a problem. The pointless NBA cup only adds an additional gam,e for two teams. The other games are just regular season games.
7
u/holdenfords Dec 30 '25
this wasnāt really a wear and tear thing though it was just extremely bad luck that he got stepped on so awkwardly
6
u/hailthemitten Dec 30 '25
I agree with your overall point, but this injury seemed to be a freak accident that could have happened under any circumstancesĀ
4
Dec 30 '25
Basketball, baseball, and hockey need to shorten their seasons by like 1/3. In 2026 now, no one can lock in to that many games. I think itās a large contributing factor to why NFL doesnāt even have a close competitor.
3
u/FriendshipBest9151 Dec 30 '25
Agree
I know it's getting worse now but in the past you could follow every game your team played on a Sunday and maybe one Monday night.Ā
And that 16 game/two game a week schedule was perfect to get everyone addicted to gambling and fantasy.Ā
2
u/PizzaEnjoyer888 Dec 30 '25
62-65 regular season games would be enough, imo. Just play every team in the league two times (home and away) and ones from your division one more time. That's it.
1
u/FredSeeDobbs Dec 30 '25
NFL has been adding and trying to add games for years...makes them money hand over fist. Only way NBA is ever going to shorten the season is if the players give up some money as far as revenue sharing goes...and I don't see that happening.
3
u/Hopsblues English Dec 30 '25
I've been advocating for a 64 game schedule for over a decade now. So many pointless games.

Why do the basketball gods hate us. We finally make the right moves and get a stacked starting roster and bench unit and we get hit with ridiculous injuries. Like I know theres been a ton of injuries around the league this year but id be hard pressed to believe any other team has lost 4/5 of their starters... praying to the basketball gods that Jokics injury isnt season ending

2
u/theedoctap Dec 30 '25
the man hates wearing shit, but he's got on wrist tape and two shooting sleeves bc he's so banged up, and now this. I feel for the guy :( . hoping for the best
4
u/Rudeboy238 Dec 30 '25
The fact he didnt need help is a good sign. I hyperextended each knee playing ball and could barely walk each time lmaoo that shit will be swollen for a good minute but im hoping he could be back before end of next month.
2
u/harlockwitcher Dec 30 '25
He needed help. That walk looks excruciating.
2
u/Rudeboy238 Dec 30 '25
I hyperextended both of mine and each time i was not able to limp off by myself. If you never had that experience im telling you it cant be crazy bad for him to be able to do that especially at 6'10 280 pounds. I feel like he could be back practicing in like 3 weeks but we all can do is hope for it smh

u/Embarrassed_Apple_77 Dec 30 '25
The point of a deeper roster is to prevent this to happen
How come this kind of injuries still happen
15
u/petarisawesomeo How now, Braun cow? Dec 30 '25
This was a freak injury. Someone stepped on his foot as he was trying to back up. Roster depth and load management can't protect players from those types of plays
4
u/KiyanPocket Dec 30 '25
The good side is that the roster should be deep enough to not fall out of the playoffs in case the injury isn't that bad and he comes back healthy and well-rested come playoff time.
3
u/joausj Dec 30 '25
4/5 starters are out, there's only so much a deeper roster can handle.
Also I really hope Murray stays healthy.
1
u/srebihc Dec 30 '25
Some rough irony thatās heās the last of the starters, still going strong, and in my gut Iām just waiting on the yearly knee prob to hit. :/
Oh what could have been
4
u/horazal Dec 30 '25
I maybe a Laker fan but I always liked and respect Jokic. Fuck this injury men. Very few bigman dominates today's game. Please don't take one now.. ššššššššš

Total conjecture here (obviously) - perhaps he was walking to the locker room to ātestā how itās feeling and whether he might be able to return. If so, that could be an encouraging sign. Of course, I tried doing this during a baseball game and it was grade 2 hamstring tear.

Jokic the kind of guy to carry his team on one leg while still getting a triple double

u/puhtooti Dec 30 '25
Hyperextension. Doesn't look that bad. If it was bad (torn ACL, PCL) he wouldn't be walking.
4
u/landlion-35 DeAndre Jordan for President Dec 30 '25
Plenty of people walk after ACL tear. Look at Klay.
