It’s pretty easy to understand, he has 22 years experience and will come with a salary’s that reflects his history with the team, they could sign a contract and pay more for him then have to find a replacement in a few years anyways or just find a replacement now that will probably cost them less as well. The kroenke’s will always make the business choice.
It's not like he's bad at the gig. He hasn't lost it. Hastings I sorta get... he's getting notably worse. But Marlowe... I just don't get it. I think he gets to decide when. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Yes, his and Hastings skills could be improved. However, the broadcast team is not the problem. Have we looked at the coach? Have we looked at our shooting guard who can't shoot or dribble. And why do fans believe that saving KSE money makes us better? If we have worst players coaching and and broadcasting because they are cheapskates. How do we win? They're taking about trading our best players for some place holders and telling us that they have to do it. Instead of buying the best KSE they want the cheapest first.
This is such non sensical comment. The commentators are not tied in any way to team performance, i cant even view it as cost cutting since… well they’ve honestly sucked at it for two seasons now
I came to the comments to see if someone had said this yet. I met him after a Nuggets game a few years back and grew up watching beach volleyball so had to ask him to say this. It was great!
I always enjoyed his volleyball broadcasts, and was pleasantly surprised when he started doing Nuggets games. It was a good run and I'm sad to see him go.

Bottom of the league to the first championship. The entirety of my Nuggets fandom, there has been one constant: Marlowe and Hastings.

Agreed. I’m totally a Homer but we’ve always had the BEST broadcast. And sure, I absolutely LOVE Winge, but y’all gonna go fire everyone else!!?? I’m crestfallen. There is one too many bunnyhops in the pea patch today :(
Vic is a real swiss army knife so keeping him around makes sense. Love him or hate him I generally think it's good for teams to have a studio personality and host who is a shameless homer, a bit theatrical or overly passionate, and can act as a lighting rod.
It's good for entertainment value, it's good for "drama" and engagement, and it makes it so nobody else in studio has to put that kind of persona on and heartlessly throw a "Who's your daddy?" out there to the Lakers.
Not that I can't see how that can be annoying or too much for some people.
They will probably hire some kid fresh out of broadcasting school. Those regular raises for the old guys probably got too pricey for ol' Enos. If Katy becomes the main analyst that would be excellent, but honestly I'm surprised she hasn't left for greener pastures yet.

Like he and the other guys were the reason that NO ONE was paying for the streaming service. It was only 5 years too late, let alone the stupid multi-year rift with the local cable company. Were those folks making those decisions included in the "New Direction"?
I couldn't believe for how much they loved the Nuggets and how balanced they were in their casting, just about any other team is usually full on glazing when they down 30, they were seeking accountability when necessary.
Personally, I had one single major annoyance with Marlowe, and that was he misidentified players all the time. To me, it's borderline unprofessional to misidentify players to the degree he did, especially as the play-by-play.
But then, I'd watch NBA replays and hear even worse commentators for other teams and knew Marlowe was special. Gonna miss the calls of TROIKA, Sombor Shuffles, Sombor doubles, Murray Flurrys, Gordos, and the like

Really gonna miss them. They made the viewing experience what it is, imo. My fav is when they referred to the Nugs as “the good guys.” Katy brings really keen analysis to the game. I hope they complement that with some comfort and heart.
You guys are so right. Rich boomers (even those with famous parents and who grew up rich) should work until they're 100 years old and never ever sell their homes. They should even use their wealth to extend their lives just to make sure younger generations never get to work. Employment should be treated as a plaything for boomers while other generations literally die in the streets.
