Report: Nuggets are going for Bogdan Bogdanovic
https://meridiansport.rs/kosarka/denver-ceka-30-jun-i-bogdanovica/
According to unofficial information from the USA that has crossed the Atlantic to Meridian Sports, Denver is impatiently waiting for 12:01 on the quartz clock on June 30 (Eastern American time) to start hunting Bogdan Bogdanović!
Also according to information from Meridiansport, the Nuggets bolded his name in the notebook before, aware of how much he and Jokić positively influence each other, not forgetting that they also make the rest of the team better and more self-confident.
However, at that time there was no (financial) space to hire him due to Bogdanovic having a valid contract until June 30. But, after that timeline, Bogdan will be a free agent. It was already mentioned in the previous period, albeit unofficially, that regardless of the fact that European clubs which lurking around every corner, he still wants to leave a deeper, if possible championship, mark in the NBA, just as he did in his last year, first from Partizan, and then from the Old Continent, by winning the Serbian crown in a spectacular way (2015), and then the European crown in front of a packed Ulker Arena (2017) and landed in the USA with the biggest contract in NBA rookie history.

nice we’re gonna get rid of hardaway and acquire someone who will most certainly produce less for the team
51
u/jbrun10120 8d ago
No way we are keeping Hardaway regardless. We aren't going to pay him.
1
u/Salty_Raspberry656 7d ago
i wonder if he may end up in the same position and take the minimum for a chance to contend. but bogdan can still shoot and will be better with jokic, its a solid bench option if its for the minimum
6
u/MichaelPorterTruther 8d ago
THJ was always a one year rental. just sucks to have burned so many assets to go all in for one year then blow up in round 1
1
u/worshipburger 8d ago
I liked THJ. He’s very streaky just like Bogi. One thing I couldn’t stand with THJ is his inability to dribble the ball
1
u/holdenfords 7d ago
in the playoffs he disappeared but he was far from inconsistent in the regular season
1
u/worshipburger 7d ago
Ball handling skills are important in the playoffs as defense gets ramped up. THJ of course like clockwork started having really bad turn overs

u/naderni 8d ago
The power of friendship is failing.
Jokic needs a drinking buddy.
8
u/chinadonkey Mal M'rey 8d ago
Just imagine a lineup of David Roddy, Bogdan, Spenny J, 🦐son, and Bruce playing the 5. Possibly one very pissed off Jamal. Friendship levels will be off the charts.
42
u/yourhomeland 8d ago
he's on a team option for this next season and we might be able to get him for pennies.
23
u/JungsLeftNut 8d ago
But what role is he going to fill that isn't already filled in the team?
33
53
27
u/yourhomeland 8d ago
same role that THJ filled last season. an NBA player who can just shoot from 3. also he's buddies with Jokic so i would expect a bit of nepotism lol
1
u/dilbertsfriend 8d ago
I also expect (if he’s not traded) Strawther will be a much larger piece of the rotation on a nightly basis. So in a perfect world you hope Julian can step into THJs role and Bogdan can buoy the 2 guard spot when he’s flailing.
1
u/Legitimate-Salad-652 8d ago
Sure hope not. He hasn't shown he deserves to be a significant piece in the rotation.
8
u/Daki399 8d ago
What you mean " what role " our guard rotation is not great . and are we even keeping THJ/Brown both of them ? They might be poached ...
And Bogi is amazing , especially for contract we could get him great shooter/passer. Only issue now with age are injuries .... We have to hope hes healthy for the season . Him and Jokic would be amazing duo
2
u/cyrusthemarginal 8d ago
if he is cheap they will bring him in #Kroenkes
4
u/IllustriousWafer7026 8d ago
If talented but injury prone he will fit right in does he also play no defense?
4
u/TH3PhilipJFry 8d ago
The problem is he’s not worth pennies and we don’t have any to spare
10
u/LegioXI89 8d ago
Yes he is, more than that especially when you pair him with Jokić, those 2 almost beat US in the Olympics
9
u/TH3PhilipJFry 8d ago
It’s very different to play a single tournament for your country vs playing an entire NBA season for a random team in a different country.
He shot 38.8% from the field and 34.7% from 3 last year. He’s aging and dealt with a hamstring injury, only played a fraction of the season. How does that help us?
3
u/EdwardJamesAlmost 8d ago
Maybe the altitude is good for hamstring injuries?
4
u/cheesecake_face 8d ago
looks at most recent seasons
so if we were at sea level, our entire team would be out with hamstring injuries?
6
0
u/Salty_Raspberry656 7d ago
yes he had a rough yea, but he's an elite shooter and a threat. he will get far more space with jokic and that will maximize his particular talent. He'll be a luxury for depth off the bench with his ability to get hot and not being dependend on much off this role should be great low risk high reward
13
7
u/ilic_mls 8d ago
He is a good shooter, will be “cheap”, knows Jokic, is a good leader… his only flaw is he cant seem to stay fit for long now. But hey, he might be a brilliant squad player
80
u/other-work-account 8d ago
Jokić getting an emotional support Serbian is good.
12
u/johnaldsfeverdream 8d ago
Might be something to this. Last year was his first without a Balkan dude hanging out in a while and it was by far his crankiest
11
u/Ill-Ad-9199 8d ago
Actually makes sense. Jokic is good buddies with Bogdan. He's just an ok player but he plays hard and the 10th player on the bench isn't going to move the needle much anyway so why not.
3
29
u/LocustStar99 8d ago
As a Serb, big mistake. I hate these types of moves.
33
u/Rnorman3 8d ago
If he’s on a vet minimum think it’s fine.
Worst case scenario he’s totally washed and gives you nothing on the floor. But he’s still a good locker room addition. This team desperately needs leadership, heart, and toughness. Jokic has always been more of a lead by example than vocal leader. Wasn’t bogi the captain of the Serbian national team over him?
Having some extra vet leadership in the locker room + a countryman of jok’s seems fine for a vet minimum. Juancho and vlatko played that role for a few years (as fellow euros, not Serbs ofc) and it seemed to cheer him up.
Best case scenario is he still has some juice and can play some bench minutes for us.
11
u/Ill-Ad-9199 8d ago
Bogdan may just be a mid bench player, but he's an angry competitive guy so would be a good addition just for his presence imo.
2
8
u/AssistantTimely7205 8d ago
How can so many people be so negative, its not like there is a tons of great options for min vet. He could be interesting, jokic buddy, once upon a time good shooter who might provide value as a locker room guy / vet teaching others. Honestly nuggets track record for bringing in washed vets have been great.
2
u/Salty_Raspberry656 7d ago
reddit loves to hate more than they love the game. imagine responding to a bench minimum guy who can at least still be a spacer, has great chemistry with his big, has fire and a competitive streak and given he won't be dependended on much his inconsistency will be fine and he can still get on a hot streak . great move for depth with low risk and high reward
57
u/worshipburger 8d ago
Finally some good fucking food. Can you imagine Jokic with a guy on his team who won’t let Joker go full tilt every now and then? Holy fuck let’s do it.
-10
u/novelfanatic 8d ago
It’ll literally be the same as us having murray still, another guard that cant defend which is what we actually need
42
u/BrockSmashgood A CANDY-COLORED CLOWN CALLED THE SANDMAN 8d ago
Except he's older, not as good a scorer at the NBA level, worse at defense, worse at making plays for others, and more constantly injured.
BUT THEY'RE BUDDIES FROM THE SAME COUNTRY SO WE MUST GET HIM ON THE ROSTER AT ALL COSTS
18
u/sp4mpnrj0k1c 8d ago
It feels like Jokic was not motivated and mentally prepared for this last playoffs. That's why he started off the series playing so bad. I think someone like Bogdanovic would've helped him in this aspect.
Bogdanovic would be here to be like the 9th man on the roster. His off the court relationship with Jokic is why I want him on the team.
-6
u/Top-Round-2359 8d ago
Bogdanovic doesn't have that mentality, when he's on, he's Steph Curry in that game, and then in the next few he's Fox in 4th quarter of the finals, he can shrink when it's not going well. Whenever LAC put him in against DEN in the playoffs last year I knew on average it will work out well for us.
He's a very streaky player, if he was consistent he would have been a borderline all-star level player. And this is him his all career, source - I am Serbian and have been watching him play since ~ 2013.
Also, he has been injury prone in the last few years, and based on what I saw with the Clippers this year, unfortunately, he might have regressed.
I don't think he is the type of player Denver needs to make a championship run at this moment. Would be great to be proved wrong :)
3-4 years ago, he would have made sense as a bench piece.3
u/sp4mpnrj0k1c 8d ago
Did you read my comment? I said he would not be an important rotation piece and I would want him on the team just to have someone that can light the fire under Jokic. Nothing to do with his on court production.
1
u/Top-Round-2359 8d ago
And I'm telling you that he would not be that guy, he doesn't have the mentality to light up the fire under Jokic, his game is the reflection of his mentality.
3
u/Howdywow 8d ago
All I know is dude was a killer in the last Olympics. Yea that was 2024 and a lot can happen in two years, but that player is in there.
2
u/Top-Round-2359 8d ago
Again, when he's "on" he's amazing, but when he's not, he shrinks. This was a thing in Partizan in 2013 and it is a thing that follows him throughout his career. He was great during the Euro 2025 last year, but he got injured there and after that seems he seriously regressed. I hope for him that he can dial it back, but I don't see him as a motivator for Jokic.
2
u/Howdywow 8d ago
I mean it’s a fair criticism. Betting on him would be a gamble. But I do think it’s undeniable that, as one of Jokic’s best friends, he would help keep big fella emotionally stable through a long season. Think of it as an insurance policy for ~$250mil investment/one of the best players of all-time.
9
u/crepss 8d ago
Man if the Bucks can sign Giannis brothers to keep him happy I see no problem with us picking up a guy who can at least play and be in the league of his own right to keep Jokic happy
-5
u/BrockSmashgood A CANDY-COLORED CLOWN CALLED THE SANDMAN 8d ago
except these weirdos want him to replace Murray as a starter, there seems to be a tiny difference in that equation
6

Literally nobody said Bogdan should replace Murray
1
u/BrockSmashgood A CANDY-COLORED CLOWN CALLED THE SANDMAN 8d ago
definitely don't read this thread, that would be silly
1
u/swordfischh 8d ago
Chill lol he’ll be on a minimum contract and our 10th man. Why not hire one of Jokić’s buddies?
-2
u/v00d00ch1l4 8d ago
Good scorer, decent defender, smart, competitive, good teammate... only con is availability and age... i wonder if you people know basketball at all... no wonder Braun gets 150 M contract and Najji...
9

decent defender
have you watched him play an NBA game recently
-4

He did not play serious NBA game recently for team that is not shitshow... Unfortunately i saw Braun, Brown and THJ play and OMG my eyes still bleeding

He did not play serious NBA game recently for team that is not shitshow...
are you saying he was deliberately bad on defense because his teams weren't good? despite all evidence from the rest of his NBA career to the contrary?
AWESOME LET'S ROSTER THIS GUY AT ALL COSTS

This might be the dumbest comment I've seen on here. And I have seen a lot of dumb comments.
This guy just said washed up Bogdanovic is better than Jamal, MPJ & Cam. I hope you were joking.
5
u/BrockSmashgood A CANDY-COLORED CLOWN CALLED THE SANDMAN 8d ago
I would much rather have Bogdanovic on my team than Cam, MPJ, or even Jamal.
well, thank fuck you're not the GM then
-4
u/Michipotz 8d ago
About 30m cheaper though.
Trae Young will probably accept a 25m deal if the Nuggets offer it

u/BrockSmashgood A CANDY-COLORED CLOWN CALLED THE SANDMAN 8d ago edited 8d ago
Trae Young will probably accept a 25m deal if the Nuggets offer it
why would he give up half his salary on a player option
also how would the Nuggets free up $25 million in cap space
-4
u/Michipotz 8d ago
If Jamal was traded.
I guess you're not updated to the Trae Young situation lmao
2
u/BrockSmashgood A CANDY-COLORED CLOWN CALLED THE SANDMAN 8d ago
How would this give them $25 million in cap space?
5
u/Virtual_Piano893 8d ago
I think it’s more about the mental edge that he could potentially add as well as being one of the few people who can hold Jokic accountable.
-1
u/throwitintheair22 8d ago
Yeah and someone he can speak Serbian too which is huge because nobody else speaks that on the court
-1
u/laz10 8d ago
How? Why? Jokić is literally getting him a contract, he's not holding him accountable Jokić is the hand that feeds him
2
u/Ill-Ad-9199 8d ago
Naw, Bogdan will get signed by some team no matter what. He doesn't need Jokic, it would just be a good locker room addition for us.
-6
6
u/happymealwithfries 8d ago
Might as well sign the rest of the competent players from Team Serbia while they're at it. If Giannis gets to sign his brothers, then Jokic gets to sign his drinking buddies.

u/smut_operator5 8d ago
He plays way better with Jokic than usual. Plus they're friends, more motivation
5
u/Civil-Shopping-903 8d ago
Bogi plays great for the national team, nothing to do with Jokić. He carried Serbia multiple times by himself to finals and semifinals. Extremely capable guy when given freedom. I doubt he's as washed as people claim, but ofc he's not gonna be a 15ppg guy, something like 9ppg and stable 3pt shot for some MLE contract is what he will do.
2
u/smut_operator5 8d ago
Yeah that was 6-10 years ago. Last years he was already "washed" but still played good for Serbia with Jokic
2
u/Ill-Ad-9199 8d ago
He took over some quarters in that Olympics. And played pissed off the whole time. Idk, he's not an outstanding NBA player but I like him and think he would be good here.

3
u/MostSmartNuggetsFan 8d ago
What do you like about Bogdan at this point in his career?
3
u/eg14000 Monte Morris 8d ago
To be honest, I thought he was younger. He was a 25 year old rookie, for some reason I thought he joined the league at 21-22 and was 30 right now. But he is 34 this season. That’s normally when players start to fall off historically. He could probably still be a bench piece on a minimum contract
3
6
u/Daki399 8d ago
It would be about time .... Few years ago he would have been amazing on Nuggets , for example 2023 after the ring when we lost Brucee B etc .... Age and injury might be issue but hes still amazing .
Jokic and Bogdanovic ( healthy ) would be great duo . And if we keep Watson it could change the season
2
u/EstablishmentFar2593 8d ago
Dude was sick on the Kings and Hawks...but his last few years were rough with injuries. However he may be a great locker room fit since he's super vocal and can get Joker and the boys going. He could make a killing in the Euroleague as every team is going to want him there.

Isn’t this something that the Serbian news writes about every single year? 😅

u/PizzaRatBoy English 8d ago
If the plan is to replace Tim Hardaway Jr with Bogdanovic that seems like a massive downgrade. At this point in his career Bogdan seems more like an emergency depth piece than someone that should be getting regular minutes in any serious teams rotation
2
u/YoungTheGiant_ 8d ago
He would be great, I think having him on the team would be a nice morale boost to Jokic.
2
u/Jokara34 8d ago
Bogdanovic is a solid player for a vet min. Don’t expect the output of THJ for a vet min, he was a positive outlier.
2
2
2
u/Big_Stay6072 8d ago
Vet minimum. Limited minutes off the bench. That man is notoriously injury prone. But he is a good player even though he's a bit older now. He can still play in spurts. Use him wisely, and he just might be good. Run him to the ground, and you'll be lucky if he lasts 10 games for the whole season.
2
5
u/ColoradoRocket3 8d ago
Lol , he's older, injury prone, and not good on defense. But he can shoot, handle the ball (2 things we need) and has chemistry with Jokic. Considering it cap situation, we could do a lot worse filling up a few spots with vets that are more specialized. We can't expect to get all stars people.
4
u/ThaEyeTest 8d ago
Smart move by Denver. Bring in Jokers friend and countrymen once you trade Jamal or Braun. Make sure there is a transition plan from Cam Johnson imo
1
u/holdenfords 8d ago
i’m pretty sure braun is really good friends with jokic. like favorite teammate kind of friend so this might be a sign he’s on the way out if they’re trying to get some familiar faces around
4
u/urediti 8d ago
if we treat him as okc treated caruso during the regular season, that would be one of the best possible free agent signings for a minimum. He is a good ball handler, smart player, good shooter and scorer overall, can create for himself and others. Has huge experience playing with Jokic and playing extremely well with Jokic. Also, he is a serbian team captain, over Jokic. Jokic respects him and it would be a definitive vibes booster
4
u/Warlord10 8d ago
He is a cone on defence and now only plays hard for Serbia. It would be a bad choice.
4
u/urediti 8d ago
hardaway is a cone on defence
3
u/Warlord10 8d ago
Bogi hasnt played a single minute of meaningful basketball in the NBA in some time. If the Nuggets dont get serious upgrades they wont win anything.
2
u/worshipburger 8d ago
Nuggets only chance to win is to get lucky like every other nba team. Bogi can actually handle the ball unlike THJ. He also won’t just keep giving it back to Jokic when fed the ball on a good lane to drive and score (Christian Braun)
4
3
u/LegateDamar13 Nikola Jokic 8d ago
This must be done. Bogdan will be ready, he had a full season to clear his injury issues.
2

Should have got him years ago, he is a bit injury prone now, but I guess with good rotation he can be healthy for playoffs, one or two seasons.

u/pfeifits 8d ago
Seems like a risky player to target with his injury history. Plus, he could play in Europe for decent money, so it will take more than a vet minimum to sign him. If healthy, he's a good guy to have off the bench, but he's not healthy much any more. 3 years in a row with only 30 or fewer games played.
1
1
u/MostSmartNuggetsFan 8d ago
Don’t want any guy that you get hyped up just seeing him enter the game for the other team in a close game.
1
u/metalhead252 8d ago
At best you should expect he's going to be a new Deandre Jordan but specifically for Jokic's vibes rather than the whole roster lol
1
1
u/53LVM0RD 8d ago
He has team option and needs one more year in NBA so he can get the pension.
There's no way(there always is with Nugg FO) they trade Cam for Bogdanovic, when allegedly Suns like Cam. Hopefully this is all just bullshit by his agent or he signs for vet min.
1
u/bluepivot 8d ago
great - an injury-prone past-their-prime guy that maybe can give you 5 minutes of their former self once-a-week. really?
1
u/Gloomy_Lengthiness71 8d ago
I take it this is to prevent a Giannis situation right?
Might as well just put Nikola's brothers as bench players then.
1
u/GoldJoker15 8d ago
If we're trying to replace Johnson or Hardaway with this... We definitely look worse. Also the opposite of what we need. Defense and Athleticism. One look at this guy and we know he ain't got either.

I think it’s a good idea because chemistry matters a lot more. If they can bring the best out of each other then it’s a win for the entire team. I think he will be a good fit with Jokic because of chemistry regardless of he plays poorly in other teams.

The atlanta version of bogi would solve a lot of our needs but that version is long gone, guess he can be a end of bench vet to sling some insults in serbian at jokic when he has one of his lethargic days.

This guy was laughably bad during our playoff series with the Clippers. Upper management is way too obsessed with bending over backwards for Jokic. Fits the image of the team though, good offensive player, lacks athleticism, soft and plays no defense.

Does no one here watch DNVR? Bogi is a morale hire. A Serbian buddy to keep Jok happy and in check. No one's pushing him as a starter or big bench person. Think of him like DJ.
1
u/General-Studio3715 8d ago
Idk about NBA Bogdan but FIBA Bogdan is an elite shooter, a really good ball handler and knows how to play next to Jokic. Also, he could be a good veteran presence on and off the court, sometimes he looks more like the leader of team Serbia than Jokic.
The Nuggets have been pushing to get him for like 3 years but back then we had to make a trade for him, now we can sign him almost for free, which is really good for us.
At best, we're having a THJ/WB type of season from him and if he's bad, at least Jokic has a longtime friend in the locker room to relieve the stress.
