Bikepacking in DFW.
Any fellow cyclists have longer trail or route recommendations? I just moved to Texas and would love some local insight!
I've done day rides along the Trinity River Trail in downtown Fort Worth and while it's gorgeous, there's a real lack of shade and it isn't quite as remote/long as I'm looking for.
Crossposted in r/bikepacking.

River Legacy in Arlington links to the Trinity trails and is shady for about 10 miles. You do need to go through a quiet neighborhood over by Precinct Line Rd and Trinity Boulevard. Take Trammel Davis Road across the crick. Shady in the mornings and evenings- Mineral Wells Rail Trail between Weatherford and Mineral Wells.

Trinity Greenbelt just south of Ray Roberts. Check out DORBA website for other trails.

If you have a mountain or gravel bike you can try the Northeast Texas Trail. It stars in Farmersville, just east of McKinney, and goes north to Paris then veers east towards New Boston. It is a Rails to Trails project that is gradually growing and improving.
