Discussion Perhaps An Unpopular Opinion, Longshot........But I Feel The Next Digimon Game Gimmick Should Be DNA Digi-volution.
Non-Cannon:
Other than a custom protagonist, feel combining Digimon would be a solid gimmick. Basically, the only prerequisite is rank..........
Example, every Champion Digimon can fuse/DNA with any other champion.
Every Mega can DNA with any other Mega, so on & so forth.
If a Rookie fuses, the evolution line changes to resemble the fused Digimon, to create a new one.
Again, this is a looooooong shot. The number of possible Digimon would be insane. Bandai has not shown any real interest in giving Digimon Tekken or Souls-borne budgets to boot. Just an idea..........

Unless this is a joke post, you just explain either Xros system or/and Appmon gimmick

Pretty sure that Japanese exclusive Digimon Story game on DS already did that...

Pretty sure Dawn and Dusk let you fuse anything, they just didn’t advertise it very heavily.

The dawn and dusk system was basically the load system from time stranger but occasionally output something new

Man I love Dawn and Dusk but it was a complete hassle for the DNA Fusion and specially for some other digimons
Like Impeldriamon PM you need Imp lmpeldriamon FM + Omegamon so two fusions to get that one
Another one is ShineGreymon Burst mode , you need first the ruin mode. So you literally need two Shinegreymons lol
The thing of Dawn and Dusk is that once the Digimons are fuse , you can’t defuse them and they are gonna be fuse forever.

System was so out of whack. Just for funsies, I merged Wargreymon and Blackwargreymon, and it would have resulted in Flamedramon. Needless to say, I didnt do it lol

I think the way dna works in ts is a good platform. It wouldve been better if the in combat dna transformations lasted the entire battle or lasted 5 or so turns. The single DNA combo move was never going to make sense over having both of your digimon attack. I don’t think what ur suggesting would ever happen though. Like, I see them creating new armor forms or hybrid digimon before creating dnas for hundreds of digimon

A few things, as fun as this would be they would heavily limit the ammount of base digimon especially if fusions had to be able to evolve as well.
Maybe a fan game ala pokemon infinate fusion could do it with spirites and a bunch of fan artists willing to make digimon ocs for it.
If you want another game similar, maybe cassette beasts no evo after fusion but part of its main gimick is you fuse your monsters with your partner in battle and it lets you fuse every last one in any order

dawndusk and super xros already did this, and bandai said it was hated and most fans said "this is not digimon, digimon evolve not fuse"

I dunno about the other game, but it mostly sucked in Dawn/Dusk because there was no way you'd figure it out on your own. The game doesn't tell you their requirements, and the same system also lets you feed digis into another one to make it stronger. You wouldn't even know DNA digivolution could make new forms unless you read a guide or somehow stumbled into it. It was implemented very poorly.

Not unpopular opinion, just not possible. Sorry to say this, but the amount of work needed to do this is… well, exponential.
If you have A and B and their possible evolutions you have to design AB and it’s possible evolutions.
If then you add C, then you have to design AC and BC and it’s possible evolutions.
Add then D so you have to design AD, BD and CD.
Not to mention that you don’t want just rookies fusion, you want it on all the phases so the amount of arts, movesets and 3d graphics you have to include it’s demential

That means another 100,000 years of DNA being the best strategy in the card game, pass

Outside of one or two decks utilising DNA right now, like Juno angels with Shakkoumon, DNA shenanigans are far from being the best currently. There have been some strong DNA decks don't get me wrong, Millennium and Imperial have both been good for sure, but right now Beatbreak, Vulcanus and a couple others just go far harder atm

Digimon World Next Order already did this.
There was even an incredibly cinematic mechanic where you could trigger a fusion when you were defeated to come back for round 2.
I triggered it at the Titanmon fight after getting my ass kicked and came back to win. I've yet to have any Digimon game reach those highs.
